Chapter 423 - 424: Mother-Daughter Night Talk
Chapter 423 - 424: Mother-Daughter Night Talk
"I don’t know Jack Smith! You’ve got the wrong person!"
The garage wall light illuminated the man’s face on the ground; the garage fell silent, exceptionally quiet.
"At this point, you still won’t admit it?" Sienna Johnson said.
"I just came to steal something. Stop wasting words and take me to the police station!" After saying this, Jackson Smith stiffened his neck, a stubborn, unyielding look on his face.
Sienna’s gaze drifted to the diamond watch on the man’s wrist, then fixed on it. A man wearing a diamond watch coming to steal?
She nonchalantly remarked, "Your watch is very beautiful..."
The man subconsciously tried to pull his sleeve down to cover the eye-catching diamond watch on his wrist. Unfortunately, with his hands and feet bound, he could only squirm awkwardly before slumping to the ground.
"Still not willing to tell the truth?"
Sienna quickly skimmed through several people’s profiles, returned the iPad to Aaron Faber, then looked at Jackson Smith and asked, "Are you so eager to go to the police station because someone can bail you out? Do you think that even if you all end up at the police station, someone will get you out? I’m curious, what exactly did you come to the Johnson Family to do?"
"I won’t tell you anything!"
Brett Jacobs interjected, "Madam, why don’t you step aside for a moment and let me interrogate them."
Sienna Johnson smiled faintly and instructed Brett Jacobs, "Since they’re so eager to go to the police station, then send them there."
Adrian Desmond had once told all of them that Sienna’s orders were his orders. Brett Jacobs, who absolutely obeyed Adrian Desmond, naturally also absolutely obeyed Sienna Johnson.
Therefore, when Sienna decided to send these men to the police station, although Brett felt it was inappropriate, he still carried out her wishes.
"Yes, Madam."
"Where did Adrian go?" Sienna couldn’t help but ask before Brett left.
Ever since her pregnancy, Adrian Desmond would always return to be with her, no matter how late. But today, when she woke up, he was gone.
"I’m not sure," Brett Jacobs replied respectfully, lowering his head.
Sienna looked at Brett suspiciously. Brett had a poker face, making it impossible to read his emotions or glean any information from his expression.
Sienna turned and left.
After Sienna Johnson departed, Aaron Faber asked Brett Jacobs, "You’re the Sixth Master’s bodyguard; how could you not know where he went?"
"The Sixth Master went to see Alice!"
Aaron Faber: ...
"Anyway, I’ve told you. You can go and inform Madam if you wish!" Brett retorted.
Aaron became anxious. "What is that woman doing here?"
"I don’t know!"
Brett Jacobs called the police. He didn’t elaborate much, only stating that a few thieves had entered their home and been subdued, requesting the police to take them away. He certainly didn’t have the time to escort these petty crooks to the police station himself.

In the quiet night, the wail of police sirens shattered the tranquility, waking the lightly sleeping Pauline Briggs.
She opened her eyes, glanced at the alarm clock on her bedside table—it was only a little past two in the morning, still a long way from dawn. She hadn’t been sleeping well lately; once awake, she found it difficult to fall back asleep.
Pauline got up, intending to get a glass of milk, but was surprised to find Sienna Johnson in the kitchen. Sienna was heating milk and taking small sips. Her long hair and cool, distant gaze made one want to approach, yet her aloofness was intimidating.
"Sienna, why aren’t you asleep either?" Pauline asked as she walked over.
Sienna looked up at the woman in her pajamas and replied, "I was a bit hungry, so I came to get some milk." She didn’t tell Pauline about the thieves at the Johnson Family, afraid it would frighten her.
"Let me make you a bowl of noodles."
Pauline was known for her excellent cooking, but with servants in the house, she rarely cooked. She had always cherished her appearance; how could she frequently cook and let kitchen fumes ruin her beautiful face?
"I’m not hungry anymore, thank you," Sienna said politely.
She was just waiting for Adrian Desmond to return.
Habits truly are a formidable thing. She used to sleep alone just fine, but Adrian’s companionship had made her dependent. Now that he was suddenly gone, she couldn’t sleep.
Where had he gone?
Sienna took a sip of milk, her brow furrowing slightly.
He probably had no idea she would miss him so much it caused her insomnia.
"Then what would you like to eat? I’ll make it for you," Pauline said, deliberately trying to ingratiate herself with Sienna, but Sienna’s frown only deepened.
"I’ve had some milk, and I’m full. I’m really not hungry. It’s very late; you should go to bed."
Seeing that Pauline wasn’t leaving, Sienna put down her half-empty glass of milk and prepared to return to her room.
Pauline called out to her, "Sienna, I can’t sleep. Can you stay and talk with me for a bit?"
She looked at Sienna with an expectant, cautious expression that made Sienna feel quite uncomfortable.
Sienna had returned to the Johnson Family at the age of thirteen. Her relationship with her mother, Pauline, had always been distant, their connection strained for many years. Faced with Pauline’s current attempts to get closer, Sienna didn’t hold a grudge or refuse to forgive; she genuinely just didn’t know how to interact with her.
"Sienna, you still resent me, don’t you?" As Pauline spoke, her eyes reddened. Sienna frowned and patiently explained, "Forgiveness isn’t the issue. You will always be my mother."
Pauline’s heart leaped with joy. "Sienna, you still consider me your mother?"
"Mm."
Pauline suddenly grabbed Sienna’s hand, but Sienna instinctively pulled away. "Sienna?" Seeing Pauline’s hurt expression, Sienna felt equally awkward.
"I’m sorry."
"It’s... it’s alright..." Pauline said, standing there with a sorrowful expression, seeing Sienna’s reluctance to let her get close.
"You said earlier you had something to tell me. What is it?" Sienna changed the subject, not wanting the awkwardness to persist.
"Oh, it’s nothing much. I’ve just been dreaming about your father a lot recently... I’m planning to take Samara to Phoenix Hill tomorrow to visit him. I wanted to ask if you’re free. If you are, we could all go as a family."
"..."
"Your father doted on you the most. He’d be so happy if you visited him."
Sienna’s heart lurched. She thought of her father, whom she had entrusted to the Purity Mountain Temple. Pauline absolutely could not be allowed to go to Phoenix Hill. If Pauline went, the secret would be exposed.
"I can’t tomorrow; I’m quite busy at the company," she said, finding an excuse.
"Well, if you’re busy, then I’ll just take Samara and go."
She still wants to go? Sienna thought for a moment, then asked, "I have a prenatal check-up tomorrow. Could you accompany me?"
Pauline was overjoyed. "Of course! What time?" she asked excitedly.
"There’s no rush, it’s in the afternoon. I have to go to the office in the morning to deal with some things."
"Then I’ll come to your office at noon to meet you."
"..."
"Oh, by the way, don’t buy lunch tomorrow. I’ll bring some for you."
