Chapter 388 - 389: Those Dark Histories

Chapter 388 - 389: Those Dark Histories

「Police Station,」

Due to Sabrina Johnson’s emotional upheaval, the interrogation could not proceed; she fainted several times during the process. As Sabrina Johnson was pregnant and Master Leland exerted his influence, the police did not seriously interrogate her, turning a blind eye.

"Where is Master Leland? Didn’t he say he would protect me? Why did the police still arrest me? Has he decided to give up on me?" Sabrina Johnson asked, feeling lost and confused.

"It’s not convenient for Master Leland to see you at the moment. Miss Johnson, please calm down. We will get you out."

Given the current public attention, it wasn’t convenient for Master Leland to meet Sabrina Johnson directly. Much of what he wanted to say had to be conveyed through Lawyer Young.

"I want to leave now! I don’t want to stay in this hellhole!" Sabrina Johnson yelled at the lawyer.

Lawyer Young, impeccably dressed in a suit and wearing black-rimmed glasses, couldn’t hide the sinister and cunning glint in his eyes.

"Miss Johnson, Master Leland asked me to tell you not to be afraid. He will get you out."

"How can I not worry? I’ve been in the Police Station for three days! This hellhole... it’s so cold at night, and all those drunkards... I can’t eat or sleep well. I’m even starting to lose my hair!"

Sabrina Johnson grabbed a handful of her hair, and several long, wine-red strands came loose in her hand. Due to stress and insomnia, her hair had started falling out, and she was terrified it would all be gone.

"Miss Johnson, even if you don’t trust yourself, you must trust Master Leland! There’s no one Master Leland has wanted to protect whom he hasn’t been able to!" the lawyer said in a chilling voice.

"Then let me out now! I don’t want to stay in this hellhole any longer, not even for another second!" Sabrina Johnson shouted. Lawyer Young frowned, walked over, grabbed her head, and slammed it against the wall. Her head was slammed so hard she felt dizzy and saw stars.

"Idiot! I told you to calm down! If you dare to scream and shout like that again, I’ll find someone to get rid of you!"

Lawyer Young pulled out a knife, pressing the blade tightly against Sabrina Johnson’s face. The icy touch shocked Sabrina Johnson back to her senses. She stared in horror at the man before her, her voice trembling as she stammered, "You... You, what are you doing? I... I’ll tell Master Leland! When he finds out, he’ll teach you a lesson!"

"Master Leland is getting old. How long can he protect you? With that pig brain of yours, you could die one day and not even know how," Lawyer Young sneered, applying more pressure with the knife.

Sabrina Johnson’s heart hammered in her chest. She lowered her voice and pleaded, "...I won’t make any more noise. I’ll do whatever you say. Please, let me go... Don’t kill me..."

A knife doesn’t have eyes. If it slashed her beautiful face, it would be a disaster.

"Please, don’t kill me. I promise I won’t cause any more trouble..." She swallowed her pride, her haughty attitude vanishing, and looked pitifully at the man. "I’ll do whatever you all say. Whatever you tell me to do, I’ll do. I’ll stay here for as long as you want me to."

Only then did the man retract the knife, a mocking smile playing on his lips as he looked at her. "It would have been so much better if you’d been this obedient from the start."

Sabrina Johnson lowered her head, remaining silent.

"Public opinion is against you right now, so you can only stay here for now while we figure out a long-term plan. Master Leland has always been a man of his word. If he says he’ll save you, he will. However, if you don’t trust Master Leland and have your own connections, I can also go back and inform him, and you can find your own way to save yourself."

"I have no options. My Husband has run off, and my adoptive mother wants me dead... No one will care about me anymore. They all wish I would just die..." Sabrina Johnson covered her face, sobbing.

She had been abandoned by everyone.

"Then you’d better clearly recognize your current situation. Be obedient. Do whatever Master Leland tells you to do. Otherwise, when the time comes, you won’t even have a place to cry your regrets."

"Yes, I understand! I’ll do whatever Master Leland says." Sabrina Johnson didn’t dare cause any more trouble.

"I’ll leave now. I’ll see you again the day after tomorrow."

"Mm."

As soon as Lawyer Young, in his black suit, left, Sabrina Johnson collapsed onto the iron bed. Only then did she realize she was drenched in a cold sweat from fear. That man just now was truly terrifying.

Sabrina Johnson pulled the blanket over herself, covering her head completely, like an ostrich burying its head in the sand to avoid reality.

「...」

It was a classic case of ’when the tree falls, the monkeys scatter.’ Once the news broke about Sabrina Johnson abusing a pregnant woman and murdering her adoptive father, various damaging revelations about her began to surface online.

Among these was the old incident where Sienna Johnson had been falsely accused of stealing Rowena Field’s Bvlgari diamond bracelet; this too was dredged up. The individuals who had slandered Sienna Johnson back then, now apparently struck by conscience, came forward one after another to testify to Sienna’s innocence. They all claimed they had been coerced by Sabrina Johnson at the time, stating that she was the true culprit.

Adrian Desmond clutched the report, a chilling laugh escaping him. "...Isabella Jones, Natasha Harris, Aurora Smith. So these are the ones who bullied you."

"It’s been so many years. I don’t really remember." Sienna Johnson sipped her lemonade, unwilling to revisit those dark memories. In truth, she wasn’t particularly pleased that these old matters had been dredged up.

Adrian Desmond instructed Walter Klein, "Find these three people on this list and go ’talk’ to them!"

"Yes, Sixth Master!" Walter Klein took the newspaper and was about to follow Adrian Desmond’s orders to find those who had bullied Sienna Johnson and settle scores, when Sienna Johnson spoke up, "It’s all in the past. Let’s just let it be."

"How can we just let it be? They dared to slander you, so they must be punished! Do they think they can just clarify things and get away with a nonchalant ’sorry’? Life isn’t that easy!"

Sienna Johnson leaned forward, took Adrian Desmond’s hand, and said with a smile, "I’m currently trying to cultivate an image of an inspiring yet tragic heroine for the media. If you send people to teach them a lesson, and they end up saying something they shouldn’t, it will damage my image. Adrian, let me handle this."

"Aren’t you angry?"

"I was very angry back then, but so many years have passed, I’ve mostly forgotten about it. Adrian, I was only thirteen back then. Just a silly little girl."

Adrian Desmond chuckled. "So, you admit you were foolish at times?"

"Of course. I was especially foolish when I was young. Otherwise, how could I have failed to deal with one Sabrina Johnson?" she said softly.

"You weren’t foolish; you just weren’t ruthless enough! If you had been a bit more ruthless than Sabrina Johnson, you wouldn’t have been bullied to that extent."

Adrian Desmond truly wished Sienna Johnson were a venomous, black-hearted woman. If she were a bit more ruthless, a bit meaner to others, she wouldn’t get bullied. He didn’t want her to be some kind of soft-hearted do-gooder.

"When my father was alive, he used to say that one must live with a clear conscience before heaven and earth."
