The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress

Chapter 367 - 368: The Child’s Tenacity in Life

Chapter 367 - 368: The Child’s Tenacity in Life

Adrian Desmond was furious and about to lash out when Sienna Johnson pressed his hand. "Adrian, don’t... I’m not feeling well. Don’t stoop to her level. Some people just can’t say anything good; arguing with them is beneath us."

"Sister, who are you talking about? Who can’t say anything good? I’m just concerned about you. Why are you always so hostile towards me?"

Sienna Johnson closed her eyes, resting, and didn’t respond, no matter how much Sabrina Johnson provoked her.

Sabrina Johnson looked at their clasped hands and intertwined figures. It was clear they had a strong relationship, even though the man had a limp.

She had finally gotten pregnant after so much effort and had expected to be cherished. But after the Stewart family found out Sissi was carrying a boy, they didn’t seem to care much about the child in *her* womb. A child from a lowly actress, and they treat it like a treasure? What a joke!

Then, Sabrina said, "My sister has such a temper. I talk to her, and she doesn’t even respond. She’s been like this since we were little. No wonder I can’t get close to her."

Who wants to be close to you!

Adrian Desmond was incredibly frustrated. He realized that ever since they came to Sileria City, he had been constantly subjected to affronts. Why should he have to endure such indignities?

Sienna Johnson gently stroked Adrian Desmond’s hand, her head resting on his shoulder, feeling his hard muscles. She knew he was aggrieved.

If this were Abyanabad, and someone dared to speak to him like that, a single glance from Adrian would have plenty of people ready to make that person’s life a living hell. This man was holding back for her.

"After the checkup, will you take me to Harris’s cake shop to buy a blueberry cake, okay?" Sienna Johnson whispered to Adrian Desmond, ignoring the woman clamoring nearby.

"Mm," he agreed.

"Number 16, Sabrina Johnson."

"Coming..." Sabrina Johnson finally quieted down when her number was called. She stood up, gave Sienna Johnson a long, hard look, and then went in.

After Sabrina Johnson left, Adrian Desmond said with dissatisfaction, "You always give in like this. That’s why certain people think you’re a pushover and will only try to take more advantage."

"What do you suggest I do? Argue with her? I’m not feeling well right now; I really don’t have the energy to argue. Didn’t you see she stopped talking after a while on her own? If I had engaged, who knows how much more she would have had to say."

Adrian was silent.

"I really don’t want to waste my breath on someone like her! If I respond, it just eggs her on. I won’t give her the satisfaction."

"These people are unbelievable. You’d be better off coming back to Abyanabad with me. At least no one there would dare speak to you like that."

"Thank you for your concern, Sixth Master, but I’m not that fragile," Sienna Johnson said optimistically. "They can say what they like; it’s their mouth. It’s not like their words will actually harm me."

"HMPH!"

"Don’t be angry. If you need to vent, take it out on me. Go on, I promise I won’t talk back."

"You’re too precious right now; I wouldn’t dare upset you."

After a while, Sabrina Johnson came out. An old man hurried over to her, followed by several bodyguards. Clearly, he was someone with a significant background. Sienna Johnson was immediately intrigued because he walked straight toward Sabrina Johnson, and what he said was quite interesting.

"What are you doing at the hospital? Are you trying to abort the child? Let me tell you, I absolutely forbid it!"

Master Leland’s sharp eyes fixed on the young woman before him. He’d only had one daughter his entire life. He’d had many women, but none as resourceful as Sabrina Johnson, who had managed to get pregnant after just one encounter. Initially, Master Leland had only been drawn to her charming naivete.

"I don’t know you!" Panic flashed in Sabrina Johnson’s eyes. She glanced guiltily at Sienna Johnson, afraid she might have noticed something.

Sabrina covered her mouth and hurried away, which only deepened Sienna Johnson’s curiosity.

The old man wore a well-fitted black tunic suit, its buttons fastened all the way to the top. Despite his age, his eyes remained sharp, like a newly unsheathed sword. The trials of time had only added wisdom and tenacity to him.

As the old man chased after Sabrina Johnson, he turned, and his gaze swept over Sienna Johnson for a moment. That’s when Sienna saw his full face—aged, yet unyielding.

Who was he? Sienna grew even more curious. Perhaps she could ask Lucas Robertson to investigate.

"Number 21, Sienna Johnson."

"Sienna, it’s your turn. What are you thinking about?" Adrian Desmond gently shook Sienna, noticing she was lost in thought.

"Huh?" Sienna Johnson pulled her gaze away from the old man’s retreating figure.

"It’s your turn."

"Oh."

This check-up felt like a pivotal moment for Sienna Johnson, one that could decide her fate. So, despite her intense curiosity about Sabrina Johnson and the old man, she didn’t have the mental space to dwell on their relationship.

"Doctor, how is my wife?"

Seeing the doctor holding the test report without speaking for a long moment, Adrian Desmond couldn’t help but ask, his own voice tight with nerves.

Sienna Johnson also held her breath, terrified the doctor would deliver bad news. It has to be okay. Please, let everything be okay.

"The results this time are quite good. The fertilized egg is developing in the uterus."

At these words, the tension that had gripped them both eased simultaneously.

"Doctor, then why am I still bleeding?"

During her pregnancy, Sienna Johnson had experienced light, persistent bleeding, much like an irregular period. She had heard that any bleeding during pregnancy was a warning sign of miscarriage, which was why she had nightmares every night, dreaming something was wrong with the baby.

"Your progesterone levels during this pregnancy were too low," the doctor explained. "Based on your progesterone index, you should have miscarried already."

"So, what do we do now?" Sienna Johnson asked anxiously.

"This little one is quite resilient. Even though you have symptoms of a threatened miscarriage, the baby is still developing."

Sienna was speechless.

"Life can be fragile at times, but it can also be incredibly tenacious, like this little one in your womb. So, for now, try to relax, maintain a positive mood, and don’t put too much pressure on yourself," the doctor comforted her. Sienna Johnson let out a shaky breath of relief, and Adrian Desmond, beside her, did the same. Although the situation wasn’t entirely optimistic, at least it wasn’t an immediate death sentence for the pregnancy.

After the examination, Sienna Johnson received a progesterone injection to help sustain the pregnancy.

She hadn’t expected the progesterone shot to be so painful. Afterward, her hip was so sore that she couldn’t even bear to sit on that side, so she lay sideways in the back seat as Adrian Desmond drove her home.

"Are you okay?"

Adrian watched her through the rearview mirror, driving very slowly, careful not to jolt her.

"I’m fine," she said. "It’s just... that shot really hurt." She really hadn’t expected it to be that painful.
