Chapter 332 - 333: The Woman Destroyed by Love
Chapter 332 - 333: The Woman Destroyed by Love
"Stay away, he’s my dad, not your dad! You’re not allowed to hold my dad!"
Curly saw someone holding her dad’s leg, trying to steal him away. She wouldn’t stand for it! The little princess ran over and fiercely pushed Devin Desmond to the ground.
Devin Desmond fell on his bottom, stunned, and then began to wail.
"You leave! Do not steal my dad!" Curly shouted.
George ran over and grabbed Curly’s hand. "He can’t steal Dad away. He’s not your dad’s son!"
Curly was not easily fooled. She stared at her father and demanded, "What’s going on? Why did this little kid come out and call you dad? Didn’t you say I was your only daughter?"
However much Adrian Desmond had looked forward to this wedding, that was how furious he felt now. He worried Sienna Johnson would be resentful and cancel the wedding in a fit of anger. Now, his daughter’s interrogation made him utterly humiliated.
"Curly, Dad only has you as his daughter." Adrian Desmond squatted down, ignoring Devin Desmond, who was crying pitifully on the ground. He reached out to hug Curly, but she took a step back, glaring angrily at him.
"Then why is he calling you ’Dad’?"
"He’s mistaken!"
"Humph!"
"Curly, are you ignoring your dad?" Adrian Desmond’s expression looked hurt.
"Humph!" Curly walked to her mother’s side, her back turned towards Adrian Desmond, still angry. His gaze followed his daughter, and he sighed. The little girl held grudges; she would be angry with him for a long time.
Pauline Briggs went up to Sienna Johnson, grabbed her hand, and said, "You’ve seen it all. His ex-wife and son are here. The wedding is off. Come back with me!" As she spoke, she tried to drag Sienna Johnson away. Of course, Adrian Desmond wouldn’t allow it.
Pauline Briggs pulled Sienna Johnson’s left hand, and Adrian Desmond pulled her right. The two of them tugged at Sienna Johnson from either side, as if they wanted to tear her in two.
"Madam Johnson, that’s not my son!"
"Adrian Desmond, do you dare say you have no connection with this mother and son?" Pauline Briggs questioned aggressively. "Adrian Desmond, let me tell you, my daughter will not be a homewrecker! My daughter will not destroy another person’s family."
It’s not god-like opponents one fears, but pig-headed teammates. Her own mother had only aged over the years, never matured, to be spouting such reckless words! If word got out that the Boss of Eastminster Group was a homewrecker, it would definitely tarnish the company’s image. Once the news broke, Eastminster Group’s stock would undoubtedly plummet the next day.
Sienna Johnson freed herself from Pauline Briggs’s grip, walked to Adrian Desmond’s side, and took his hand, wanting everyone to see their loving bond. "Adrian, this little boy is crying so pitifully. Why don’t you take him to the back to wash his face?"
"Mm," Adrian Desmond acknowledged but didn’t move. He ordered his subordinates to take Devin Desmond away. Melanie Carpenter stepped forward and blocked the man. "Adrian Desmond, what are you going to do to him? He’s your son too! Are you going to hurt your own son for this woman?!"
"Melanie Carpenter, don’t push it!" Adrian Desmond said furiously. "What do you mean, ’my son’? I have no son! You know perfectly well what you did. Don’t you dare try to pin another man’s child on me!"
"His name is Devin Desmond! He is your son!"
Adrian Desmond was at a loss for words. He knew it was useless to state the truth; the crucial part was that no one would believe him.
"Melanie, I haven’t mistreated you and the boy all these years. What exactly do you want from me?"
"Leave this vixen!"
"Impossible!" Adrian Desmond refused without a second thought.
Melanie Carpenter looked at Sienna Johnson with venom in her eyes. "Sienna Johnson, you left back then, so why did you come back? Why did you come back to take away my happiness?"
Sienna Johnson’s pretty face was cold and stern. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. Sileria City is my home; I’ve lived here since I was a child."
"If it weren’t for you, Sixth Brother and I would be living happily now! Sienna Johnson, why did you have to appear in my life? Why did you steal Sixth Brother from me? Why did you destroy my happiness? You ruined everything for me!"
"I didn’t ruin everything for you! You ruined it all yourself! Melanie Carpenter, look at yourself now... For a man, you’ve become this. Do you think it’s worth it?"
Sienna Johnson didn’t hate Melanie Carpenter. She only found her pitiful—a pitiable woman who had utterly ruined herself for a man.
"It’s because you never loved Sixth Brother as I do that you can make such glib remarks! I love Sixth Brother; I’ll die without him! Sienna Johnson, I hate you! Why didn’t you just stay put here quietly? Why did you have to go to Abyanabad and interfere in my relationship with Sixth Brother?"
Sienna Johnson’s impression of Melanie Carpenter was still rooted four years in the past. The Melanie Carpenter of four years ago was a dignified and gentle woman who spoke softly and treated others kindly; she was a serene person. The woman before her now had gaunt cheeks, gloomy eyes, and an acrimonious expression.
She didn’t want to speculate on how things might be now between Adrian Desmond and Melanie Carpenter if she hadn’t appeared in their lives. However, if Melanie Carpenter had made different choices—learned to love herself more, learned to let go—perhaps she would be living a better life.
Adrian Desmond was now seething with anger. "Take Miss Carpenter away!" He couldn’t let Melanie Carpenter ruin his wedding.
"Adrian Desmond, what are you going to do now? Lock me up again?" Melanie Carpenter withdrew her sinister gaze from Sienna Johnson, her voice chilling.
"Melanie, stop being so unreasonable!"
It was clear Melanie Carpenter was extremely agitated; her whole body looked as if it might lunge at Adrian Desmond. Sienna Johnson was genuinely afraid Melanie Carpenter would do something drastic.
"Melanie Carpenter, there’s no point in making such a scene. Go back to Abyanabad and live a good life with your son," Sienna Johnson said.
"You wicked woman! You deserve to go to hell!" Melanie Carpenter suddenly shrieked.
"What are you all standing around for? Take her away!" Adrian Desmond roared.
Pauline Briggs, apparently thinking the scene wasn’t chaotic enough, stepped forward to stir up more trouble. "Nobody touches her! Since everyone is here today, let’s get things straight. My Johnson family’s daughter is not to be bullied!"
"Yes, we need to get things straight! Right, Sienna Johnson?" Melanie Carpenter chimed in.
Sienna Johnson walked towards Melanie Carpenter. Adrian Desmond blocked her. "What are you doing?"
"I just want to say a few words to Miss Carpenter."
"She’s mentally unstable. Don’t go near her!"
"It’s fine!"
Sienna Johnson approached Melanie Carpenter. It was the first time in four years the two women had been this close. "I only want to tell you one thing... Instead of wasting your time on me, you should have spread your legs and held on tight to your man!" That’s the winning move.
