Chapter 299 - 300: You Leave, I Don’t Need You Anymore
Chapter 299 - 300: You Leave, I Don’t Need You Anymore
"I’ve given you what you wanted. Now come back to Abyanabad with me!" He grabbed her shoulders, his eyes fixed on hers, unwilling to accept rejection.
"Adrian Desmond, four years ago, I said I wouldn’t leave if you didn’t marry Melanie Carpenter. But you refused me and married her anyway." She brushed his hands away and said coldly, "Adrian Desmond, I won’t go back to Abyanabad with you."
He looked at her, his expression filled with sadness, despair, and hidden heartache...
"Your wound is bleeding! Let me call the doctor!"
"What doctor?" he yelled at her. "Why don’t you just let me bleed out and die?"
Sienna Johnson remained silent.
"I don’t want your pity," he spat, "since you clearly don’t want me anymore!"
"Suit yourself!"
Sienna Johnson turned to leave, her expression conveying that she couldn’t care less if he bled to death. Adrian Desmond’s eyes reddened; he was genuinely distressed. Seeing she was about to push the door open, he grabbed her from behind and said weakly, "Sienna, I was wrong. I know I was. Can you forgive me just this once? Please... come back to Abyanabad with me. I’ll take good care of you and Curly. I’ll promise you anything, as long as you come with me."
"Adrian Desmond, I won’t leave this place. This is my home, where my family and friends are, and my career is here. I won’t return to Abyanabad with you and continue to be your caged canary."
"You can do business in Abyanabad too. I’ll give you money; you can play however you want..."
Sienna Johnson turned to look at Adrian Desmond. They were like people from different planets, completely unable to communicate. She was earnestly managing the business her father had left behind, but in his eyes, it was merely play.
She knew he was very rich; he had casually presented a ton of gold as a betrothal gift. Compared to his wealth, her modest fortune was insignificant. Yet, that business represented generations of her family’s hard work.
Her father hadn’t had a son, and his greatest regret before his death was fearing that the Johnson family business would be ruined under her management. That was why she had taken over the family business, fighting in the business world like a man.
"You should rest well!"
"Where are you going?"
"Home!"
"You’re not allowed to go see that pretty boy!"
Adrian Desmond tightly grabbed her waist, refusing to let go. The smell of blood grew stronger. Sienna Johnson looked at the wound on his leg; it had started bleeding again.
If a doctor doesn’t treat him soon, he’ll really bleed to death. "I’m going to find the doctor."
"Mai, what do you really want? What do you need me to do? Just tell me. Even if it’s my life, I’ll give it to you!"
He was at a complete loss with this woman. Hard tactics didn’t work; soft ones were no better. He had a strong romantic rival watching closely, and Adrian Desmond felt himself slipping into chaos.
If things continued like this, Adrian Desmond was truly afraid of losing her.
He couldn’t bear the thought of turning around and not finding her behind him, or sleeping with a pillow she hadn’t slept on...
"I am Sienna Johnson!" Sienna Johnson explained.
"Isn’t Mai just Sienna Johnson?"
"No! The woman you imprisoned and called Mai is not the real Sienna Johnson! The real Sienna Johnson is who you see now.
"She won’t willingly be imprisoned on Unnamed Island.
"She won’t willingly be your shadowy woman.
"And she definitely won’t marry you only to stay at the Desmond family estate, assisting her husband and raising children...
"She has her own business, her own pursuits, and her own thoughts..."
Adrian Desmond silently looked at the stubborn woman before him. In his eyes, Mai was Sienna Johnson. Even when Mai had feigned obedience, she couldn’t hide her innate stubbornness, which was exactly like the woman in front of him.
"I’ll help you onto the bed to lie down."
Adrian Desmond pushed her away and said petulantly, "Why do you care what I do? Just let me bleed out and die! Get out! Get the hell out of here!"
He turned his back, tears welling in his reddened eyes, feeling like a wronged child. He’d been humbled enough, but she saw him as vulnerable and just kept bullying him.
Fool! Why bother reasoning with her? Just kidnap her, take her to the island, tie her to the bed, and fuck her until she begs for mercy. I refuse to believe I can’t conquer her that way!
With a BANG, the door slammed shut. Adrian Desmond jerked his head around. The woman who had been standing there moments ago had vanished. He was about to explode with rage; she had just left like that.
"Sienna Johnson, get the hell away from me! I don’t want you anymore!"
Adrian Desmond kicked a nearby chair. The movement ripped open the wound on his leg, worsening the injury. When the doctor Sienna Johnson had called for arrived, he found Adrian Desmond’s leg entirely covered in blood, his entire being emanating a murderous aura.
「Fishermen’s Song Private Restaurant」
It was approaching noon, so Sienna Johnson and Noah Phillips went there for lunch.
They hadn’t seen each other for nearly three months. Noah Phillips appeared to have lost more weight, so Sienna Johnson ordered many dishes for him.
"Eat more. You’ve gotten thin."
"Look who’s talking. You’re thinner too." Noah Phillips chuckled, his eyes gentle.
They put food on each other’s plates and chatted idly about everyday things, like old friends who had known each other for decades, perfectly harmonious and in sync.
"I didn’t expect Kenneth Brown to be that kind of person..." Noah Phillips, having heard about Kenneth Brown’s situation from Gary Fisher, was first shocked, then angry. Fortunately, Sienna Johnson hadn’t married that beast in human clothing.
"He’s not that bad."
Sienna Johnson took a sip of soup, feeling unsettled. If they were to determine who was right and wrong, Adrian Desmond would undoubtedly be the main culprit. But she selfishly protected him, not telling anyone, including Kenneth Brown, as she didn’t want Kenneth Brown to live in hatred.
Noah Phillips’s movements paused, his gaze fixed on her thoughtful face. "Did you fall in love with Kenneth Brown?"
Sienna Johnson gave a slight smile. "What’s the point of discussing this now? It’s impossible for him and me..."
"Don’t be sad for an unworthy man," Noah Phillips advised.
"I’m not that foolish."
"Is the man in the hospital room really Curly’s biological father?"
Speaking of Adrian Desmond, Sienna Johnson couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on. Adrian Desmond was domineering, selfish, and possessive. She had never expected him to search for her for four years...
"Do you still love him?" Noah Phillips asked, looking at her anxiously. Sienna Johnson collected her scattered emotions and sighed. "I loved him."
That one extra word changed the meaning entirely.
She had loved him, not *was loving* him. To Sienna Johnson, Adrian Desmond was already in the past. His significance to her was the same as Kenneth Brown’s.
Across the table, Noah Phillips gently took Sienna Johnson’s hand, caressing it flirtatiously. Sienna Johnson felt a surge of excitement, her eyes flickering as she looked at Noah Phillips. "Brother..." She dared not call him Noah Phillips.
"Baby, I love you!"
"But... we can’t be together." She slowly withdrew her hand, her eyes filled with pain.
