Chapter 295 - 296: Rivals Meet, Jealousy Runs High
Chapter 295 - 296: Rivals Meet, Jealousy Runs High
Sienna Johnson forced herself to calm down. Biting her fingertips, she wracked her brain, trying to remember Adrian Desmond’s cell phone password. She recalled using his phone once. The password was... the password was...
Remember, remember! she urged herself.
His birthday? *Error!*
My birthday? *Incorrect!*
Curly’s birthday? *Incorrect!*
"’520’—I love you?" *Error!*
"Damn it!" Unable to guess, Sienna smashed Adrian’s phone. Then she saw another man lying on the ground nearby. Casting aside her fear, she searched his pockets and, luckily, found a cellphone.
Please don’t have a password! Sienna prayed.
Sienna turned on the phone; thankfully, it didn’t have a password. She first called Emergency Medical Services (120), then the police (110).
After making the calls, Sienna felt a little calmer. She checked Adrian’s wounds. His head and thigh were still bleeding. The leg injury was too close to the groin for her to bandage it properly to stanch the bleeding, and she couldn’t tell if his reproductive organs had been damaged.
But if his injuries were really that bad, at least she wouldn’t have to be tormented by this man in the future.
Sienna couldn’t find a scarf or handkerchief to use as a tourniquet, so she pressed her hand against the wound, trying to slow the blood flow.
"Adrian, hang in there. The ambulance will be here soon."
This wasn’t the Himakati jungle; there were no Thuja Leaves here to stanch bleeding. All Sienna could do was wait for the ambulance to arrive and for them to treat Adrian’s wounds.
"Mai..." he murmured—the false name Sienna had invented.
"Sienna...?" Adrian’s eyes fluttered open. "I think I just dreamed that you remembered me."
"It wasn’t a dream. I really did remember."
Adrian smiled. "So, can you go back to Abyanabad with me now?"
Finding her, taking her and their child back to Abyanabad—that was Adrian’s wish. "Mai, come home with me!"
Adrian touched his wound, then grabbed Sienna’s hand and didn’t let go. Sienna didn’t dare pull her hand away, so she let him hold it. Looking at Adrian’s sleeping face, pale from blood loss, Sienna couldn’t help but wonder how long it had been since she’d seen him so peaceful.
"I’m sorry, Adrian. I can’t go back with you... Forget about me. Go back and live a good life with Melanie Carpenter!"
They belonged to two different worlds and should never have crossed paths.
"Adrian, you shouldn’t have come looking for me..."
The ambulance and police cars arrived simultaneously, their lights flooding the dark alley, making it bright as day. Only then did Sienna truly see how much blood Adrian had lost.
He’d lost so much blood; she started to wonder if he had any left in him.
"Adrian..." Her heart clenched. She pressed her hand tightly against her chest, as if that could lessen the ache.
The alley was too narrow for the ambulance to enter, so paramedics hurried in with a stretcher. "Ma’am, please step aside."
Sienna quickly made way. As they lifted Adrian onto the stretcher, his grip on her hand remained tight, refusing to release.
"Ma’am, since this gentleman won’t let go of your hand, why don’t you come with us to the hospital?"
"Okay."
The police saw that both men had stab wounds. Recognizing that saving lives was paramount, they postponed their questions for now.
With a police car clearing the way, they reached the hospital in record time.
Sienna borrowed a phone and called Gary Fisher for help. She was surprised to find he was with Noah Phillips.
"What happened?" Noah Phillips asked anxiously.
"It’s nothing much. I was just robbed in a dark alley. I asked Gary to help me with the procedures. The police will probably be here to ask questions soon."
"Which hospital?"
"Room 125, Third Hospital, North District."
"Don’t panic, I’ll be right there."
"Alright."
She hadn’t seen Noah Phillips in a long time; she guessed he was here because of the matter with Kenneth Brown. Noah Phillips was like a perpetually worried father, and she, his endlessly troublesome daughter, always giving him things to worry about.
The ordeal had thoroughly sobered Adrian; he was wide awake.
"Where am I?" he asked, scanning his surroundings.
"The hospital."
Their hands had been clasped the entire time, never letting go. Adrian’s gaze, dark and intense, fixed on the woman beside him. He saw the blood on her clothes. Suddenly, he remembered the scene in the alley—four punks attacking them, him fighting back, one of them lunging for Sienna...
"Are you okay?"
He grabbed her hand, examining her wrist. Her pale wrist was ringed with dark bruises, marked by a few shocking handprints. "I’m going to slaughter them!" Adrian vowed viciously.
"Babe..." Noah Phillips said, pushing the door open. Adrian instantly recognized the newcomer—his rival in love, Noah Phillips.
Rivals meeting, animosity flared.
Adrian tightened his grip on Sienna’s hand, pulling her into his embrace, possessively.
"Sienna, who is he?"
Sienna tried to tug her hand free, but Adrian held it even tighter. Noah Phillips wore a beige men’s trench coat, his frameless glasses lending him a scholarly, elegant air. Of course, in Adrian’s eyes, he was just a four-eyed dork and a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
"Hello, my name is Noah Phillips. And you are?"
"Adrian Desmond! Sienna Johnson’s man!"
Sienna’s head throbbed. She explained, "This man... has some issues. Don’t listen to his nonsense."
"Sienna Johnson, what do you mean by that?"
Sienna seized the chance to pull her hand free. "Sir, I’m very grateful for your courageous intervention in saving me. Don’t worry; I’ll cover all your expenses during your hospital stay. Once you’re better, please go back to Abyanabad."
He stared at her. "What about you and Curly?"
"Sileria City is my home and Curly’s home. We’re not going anywhere!"
She remembered everything, and because of that, she couldn’t forgive him!
They were also unsuited for each other, people from two completely different worlds. How could they possibly live together? Adrian wanted to take her back to Abyanabad, but she couldn’t abandon her father’s business and leave Sileria City. She wouldn’t return to Abyanabad to be imprisoned by him again, like a caged canary, as she had been four years ago.
And between them, there was still Melanie Carpenter, who would never let go, not even in death.
Four years ago, when Melanie Carpenter had threatened suicide, he had married her. Sienna didn’t believe that after four years, Melanie had come to her senses and learned to let go.
Even if Melanie did let go, she didn’t want this man anymore.
Four years ago, she had given Adrian a choice!
Adrian had abandoned her!
