Chapter 782

Chapter 782

Morning light streamed through the window, illuminating the spacious bedroom. Before the massive floor-to-ceiling window, Jennifer Lawrence knelt on the carpet, her head tilted back and her eyes closed, concentrating on holding the pose so that nothing would drip down her face.

After a long night of work, her morning was proving to be just as laborious.

Whatever Matthew wanted, she did, surrendering to him completely. When Matthew wanted to take pictures to commemorate the occasion, she held every position he directed.

Feeling something trickle down her face, Jennifer Lawrence opened her eyes.

"Come on, hurry up, Matthew!" she urged, her head still tilted back, which made speaking difficult. "Take the picture! If you don't, it'll be ruined!"

Matthew stood directly in front of her, focusing the camera on her upturned face and pressing the shutter button again and again.

Click—click...

As he shot, Matthew found the images bringing to mind certain photos he had once seen online.

Back then, he'd wondered who took such pictures and how they came to be. He never imagined he would one day have the chance to take them himself.

He took several shots from the front, then moved to the sides."Are you done?" Jennifer Lawrence struggled to hold the position. "My neck is cramping up."

Matthew took two steps back, the camera still in focus. "Just a little longer, Jane. Almost there."

After taking a few close-ups of her face, he captured several full-body shots of her.

However, her face wasn't as clearly visible in the full-length photos as it was in the close-ups.

"Alright." Matthew walked over to Jennifer Lawrence, helped her up, and gave her bare skin a light pat. "Go take a shower."

Jennifer Lawrence took the tissue Matthew handed her and wiped her face before heading to the bathroom. Just before she went in, she regained her cheerful demeanor. "Send me a few of those, I want them too."

Matthew held up the camera and waved it. "No problem."

Soon, the faint sound of running water came from the bathroom. Matthew opened his laptop, connected the camera, and carefully reviewed the photos he'd taken. He selected a specific set and transferred them to a flash drive.

Since Jennifer Lawrence had asked for them, he certainly wasn't going to refuse, but the photos he chose featured only her.

There were some things Matthew was always extremely cautious about.

He placed the flash drive next to Jennifer Lawrence's cell phone. The bathroom door opened quickly, and she emerged.

"Here are the photos." Matthew pointed to the flash drive beside her phone. "Don't forget to put it away."

Jennifer Lawrence walked over briskly, slipped it into her purse, and said, "I'll save these. They're our best souvenir."

Matthew nodded. He suddenly thought of the pictures he'd seen before and offered a word of caution. "Don't upload them anywhere, especially not online. Hackers are ruthless these days."

"Ah..." Jennifer Lawrence nodded instinctively. "Of course."

Hearing her reply, Matthew felt a strange sense of satisfaction, as if he'd just done a good deed and saved her from some future disaster.

It was just past six, and he didn't feel like sleeping. Seeing that Jennifer Lawrence had just showered and wasn't fully dressed yet, Matthew picked up the camera again and took a few more pictures of her.

At 7:30 AM, Matthew brought Jennifer Lawrence downstairs for breakfast. The moment Jennifer Lawrence saw the maid serve a glass of milk, she instantly lost her appetite.

"What's wrong?" Matthew noticed she hadn't touched her breakfast and asked with concern, "Don't you like the food?"

Jennifer Lawrence didn't know how to respond, so she just made up an excuse. "I'm not hungry."

Matthew was puzzled but told the maid anyway, "Please bring Miss Lawrence the special breakfast instead."

The maid cleared away the milk and plate, quickly returning with another plate containing the special breakfast: soup, bean buns, and a cup of finely ground soy milk.

Seeing the milky-white liquid in the cup, Jennifer Lawrence felt like she was going to lose her mind.

Matthew was surprised. After all that activity, how could she not want to eat?

After having breakfast with Matthew, Jennifer Lawrence found an excuse and left.

"I have to go too." Matthew asked the driver to bring the car to the villa's entrance. "I can give you a ride."

Jennifer Lawrence nodded and had Matthew drop her off in Century City. After getting out, she waited for his car to drive away before hurrying to the nearest fast-food joint.

Sitting in the burger place devouring a large burger, Jennifer Lawrence finally felt her stomach settle. Just then, her cell phone rang—it was her agent.

She answered the phone. "Don't worry, I haven't disappeared. I'm in Century City right now. Preparing for the next audition? Don't worry, my chances of landing Katniss are excellent. As long as my acting is up to the crew's standards, the competition doesn't stand a chance."

After hanging up, Jennifer Lawrence walked out of the burger joint with a joyful spring in her step, feeling that the Los Angeles air was truly intoxicating.

After dropping off Jennifer Lawrence, Matthew went to the Four Seasons Hotel to pick up Johnny Depp and Lily Depp.

Lily had said she wanted to go shopping, but she only asked Matthew to buy her a teddy bear and nothing else.

At noon, Matthew had lunch with Lily and Johnny Depp. Right after the meal, Depp received a call from James Wan, who officially informed him that Lily had passed her audition and the studio was ready to begin contract negotiations.

Johnny Depp asked his agent to handle the negotiations on Lily's behalf. Matthew chatted with him for a little while longer before heading to Warner Studios.

Two of his projects were in pre-production at Warner Studios, and at this critical stage, he definitely needed to make frequent visits.

Matthew first stopped by the studio where James Wan's team was working. That project had essentially been handed over to James to manage, and Matthew had no intention of interfering. He just wanted to check on the progress and, after confirming everything was running smoothly, he left.

Next, he went to see the production team for "The Hunger Games," where he found director Patty Jenkins and producer Nina Jacobson. After a brief chat, he recommended Jennifer Lawrence, suggesting the two of them watch "The Burning Plain," a film she starred in.

After their dinner the previous night, Matthew had made a point to call Charlize Theron to get her opinion on Jennifer Lawrence's performance before taking her back to the estate.

Given his hazy memories of the past, she shouldn't have any trouble securing the role of Katniss.

As for Jennifer Lawrence playing up her quirky, relatable persona for the public, Matthew couldn't care less. In fact, an image like that was endearing at this stage of her career and would be great publicity for the upcoming film.

Leaving the "Hunger Games" team, Matthew went to the studio where the "Green Lantern" crew was set up and spoke with the Warner Bros. executives in charge of the project.

This was a project with a production budget of up to $250 million. It had been a long time since its initial planning, and it was still in the preliminary preparation phase. Filming was estimated to begin next year, with the movie slated for a summer 2011 release.

Unfortunately, Matthew didn't run into Will Smith on set.

According to the Warner Bros. representatives, Will Smith was undergoing relevant military training at an Air Force base for the role.

Over the past few days, Matthew had also invested in several other projects. "Twilight" was still in preparation and would officially begin shooting after the New Year.

After a trip to Marvel Studios to check on the progress of "Captain America,"

Matthew officially joined the cast of "Fast Five" to begin final preparations for the start of filming.
