Chapter 582

Chapter 582

"You said you met Emma Watson when you were in Geneva?" Helen asked in the Warner Studios dressing room, waving away the makeup artist who had just finished. "And you talked to her?"

Matthew answered nonchalantly, "We didn't just chat for a bit. We actually made plans for me to treat her to dinner when she gets to Los Angeles."

Helen instinctively reminded him, "Emma was born in 1990. She isn't even eighteen yet."

"You've got the wrong idea, Helen," Matthew said, frowning slightly.

Helen warned anyway, "There are plenty of celebrities in this business who get involved with sixteen and seventeen-year-old girls, but you can't be one of them."

Matthew just rolled his eyes.

"And..." Helen continued, "could you find out if Emma has any intention of switching agents?"

Matthew turned to look at her. "You still want to poach Emma?"

Helen answered calmly, "Why wouldn't I? She commands high fees and is incredibly popular in the industry."

Matthew cautioned, "Her agency is already carefully planning her transition for after the 'Harry Potter' series ends. Her appearance in Geneva was a strategic move on their part to cultivate her public image."Helen nodded slowly. "I know. Emma is now an ambassador for the UN's fund for women and children."

She adjusted her glasses. "Still, it's always worth a try."

Matthew didn't respond. He would help Helen in any way he could.

Shortly after their conversation, a crew member arrived and informed Matthew it was time to leave the dressing room and head to the outdoor set.

The outdoor set was surrounded by green screens, and the next scene on the schedule was with Charlize.

Charlize was already on set, speaking with the fight director, so Matthew walked over to join them, taking a moment to look at her costume.

"Hey, Matthew." The fight director greeted him and then went over the action sequences they would be shooting. "Your role is going to focus mainly on close-quarters combat."

Matthew nodded without comment. They had already rehearsed the scenes with Charlize during prep, and for any maneuvers that were too complex, they both had stunt doubles.

After the fight director gave his instructions, Peter Berg arrived, and filming was ready to begin.

Soon, the cameras were rolling. The extras, Matthew, and Charlize were all in position. With every department ready, the day's shoot commenced on Peter Berg's command.

Surrounded by a green screen, Matthew was lying on the asphalt. There was a huge crater beneath him, strewn with debris, and he was struggling to get up.

Charlize strode over and said hatefully, "Stay away from me and my family! I won't let you torment me anymore!"

Her expression was a mixture of bitterness, sorrow, and frustration. Her face, usually so composed in front of the camera, had suddenly become remarkably expressive.

Matthew saw Charlize's sudden emotional outburst and froze for a split second.

"What? I have no idea what you're talking about."

On camera, he pushed himself to his feet and followed Charlize as she strode into the crowd of extras.

To their left, the camera moved along with them, tracking their every move.

Charlize shot back as she walked away, "It's no use! It always ends the same! Persia, Greece, Brooklyn!"

Matthew caught up to her, bewildered. "Brooklyn? I've never been to Brooklyn!"

As if triggered by his words, Charlize stopped short, spun around, and jabbed a finger into Matthew's chest. "I have put up with you for three thousand years!" she snapped. "But I'm done! Done! Do you hear me?"

Matthew raised his voice in return. "I have no idea what you're talking about!"

Charlize ignored his retort, speaking almost to herself now. "I'm happy! I'm finally happy, and I am not going to let you ruin everything!"

As Charlize walked away without a backward glance, Matthew called after her, "It couldn't have been that great between us, because I don't remember you at all, you crazy woman!"

Charlize reached a truck but stopped dead in her tracks. She turned, pulled the sunglasses from her face, and, looking as if she had reached the breaking point, said, "Call me 'crazy' one more time, sweetie."

Matthew repeated bravely, "Crazy."

In response, Charlize put her sunglasses back on, spun around, and grabbed the truck's front bumper.

The long take ended there. The next part of the scene, where Charlize furiously smashes the truck into Hancock, would be created with special effects in post-production.

Even before filming began, while the action sequences were being developed, Matthew had suggested to Akiva and Peter Berg that the film's fight scenes needed to feel dynamic. He believed the best way to convey that was to show their immense power tearing up the ground and destroying the city around them.
