The Best Movie Actor In Hollywood!

Chapter 460

Chapter 460

The Hollywood Celebrity Center, the Los Angeles headquarters of the Church of Scientology, was a magnet for a vast number of Hollywood stars. At its gatherings, they not only pledged their faith but also generously opened their wallets.

As a result, it stood as one of Scientology’s most vital branches.

For any senior Scientologist, taking leadership of the Hollywood Celebrity Center was a crucial step on the path to career advancement.

David Miscavige, who had arrived in Los Angeles in April to helm the Center, had invested considerable effort in Tom Cruise. By securing the unwavering support of Scientology's most prominent figurehead, he had taken a significant leap up the ladder.

Like his predecessors, from the day he assumed his post, he inherited another critical responsibility: to keep a close watch on Tom Cruise and ensure his unshakeable loyalty to Scientology.

Of course, this was a clandestine duty, never spoken of aloud. But his most important task was to attract and persuade as many Hollywood celebrities as possible to join the Church.

Unlike ordinary believers, Hollywood stars were famous and wealthy. Their fame could be leveraged for publicity, and their money could be slowly, methodically converted into Scientology assets.

And Tom Cruise was the master key to recruiting other Hollywood stars.

Lately, David Miscavige had been focusing his attention on two individuals: the Hollywood superstar Matthew Horner and the British soccer icon David Beckham.

The former was immensely popular and would further elevate Scientology’s prestige; the latter would allow the Church to penetrate European celebrity circles.Tom Cruise was the linchpin to it all.

A knock sounded at the office door. "Come in," David answered.

The door opened, and Tom Cruise, accompanied by his deputy, Begovich, entered and took the two chairs opposite the desk.

"Hello, Tom." David’s tone was deferential, despite being older than Cruise. "I asked you to come in to check on the progress with David Beckham and Matthew Horner."

Begovich, a man in his early thirties, listened to David and glanced at Cruise. As far as he knew, Cruise was diligent in his recruitment efforts. He had brought in his fair share of B-list and C-list actors, and had even been instrumental in converting Lisa Marie Presley—daughter of Elvis Presley and ex-wife of Michael Jackson—to Scientology.

"Things with David haven't gone very well."

Speaking of Beckham, Tom looked slightly uncomfortable and was reluctant to elaborate. "Beckham is a devout Catholic. It will take a long time to make any headway. I think, at this stage, our focus should be on Horner."

David Miscavige watched Tom, appearing to weigh his words carefully.

"Matthew Horner has accepted my invitation and will definitely be at the party." Tom glanced at his watch and added quickly, "Matthew is the right target right now. His reputation is formidable, and his salary has climbed to twenty million dollars."

Contrary to the rumors and media reports, Tom Cruise was perfectly lucid within the organization and clearly had his own agenda on many issues.

He continued, "And from what I know, Matthew Horner has no strong religious convictions, which should make him easier to work with."

"That makes sense. Tom, when the gathering takes place, I want you to introduce me to Matthew. I’ll speak with him personally."

Tom checked his watch again. "No problem."

He stood up. "I have to get to Paramount Pictures. Call me if you have any other questions."

With that, he left the office.

When the door closed, Begovich, the deputy David had brought from headquarters to the Hollywood Celebrity Center, remarked, "Recruiting Matthew would be a major win, but from the rumors, Horner doesn't seem like a simple man to deal with. What's our approach?"

David, however, was confident. "A man who becomes a major star before he's thirty, who comes from a worse background than Tom, and who has no faith... he must have a spiritual void, a psychological emptiness. No matter how strong his exterior, there's bound to be a vulnerability within."

He smiled and added, "Do you remember how the Church brought Tom in?"

Begovich understood immediately. "We use the same method on Horner that we used on Cruise?"

"It worked then," David said amiably. "We'll approach this from two angles. On one hand, I’ll speak to Matthew personally, find out what he needs, and then persuade him. On the other hand, we need to find a suitable guide for Horner."

"Can't we handle that?" Begovich asked.

David slowly shook his head. "If you recall, it was his first wife, Mimi Rogers, who truly led Tom Cruise into the Church."

Begovich instantly grasped David’s meaning. "We find a beautiful woman from the Church for Horner?"

"Precisely." David nodded gently. "Doesn't Horner have a penchant for young, beautiful women? I have just the person in mind—a beautiful girl with heart, ability, and unwavering loyalty to the Church. And, conveniently, she's also a Hollywood actress."

Begovich was somewhat impressed that David had already thought this far ahead.

David picked up the phone and pressed a button. "Have Miss Heard come to my office. I need to speak with her."

Knowing his boss's work habits, Begovich immediately moved away from the desk and sat in a corner, making himself inconspicuous.

After a three or four-minute wait, another knock came at the door. When David said, "Come in," a slender, stunningly beautiful young woman entered.

Begovich was immediately captivated. She looked to be around twenty, with long, beautiful blonde hair. Of all the women he had ever met, this girl was at the pinnacle of beauty and sensuality, surpassing many Hollywood actresses.

‘The Church has prepared quite a gift for Horner!’ Begovich mused silently.

"Begovich," David made a swift introduction, "this is Miss Amber Heard, who joined the Hollywood Celebrity Center two years ago. Amber, this is Begovich, my deputy."

As Begovich and Amber exchanged greetings, David gestured to the chair opposite him. "Have a seat."

Pulling out the chair, Amber sat down across from David. She swept her blonde hair back, saying nothing, but her expression held an indescribable devotion, like the most pious Catholic meeting the Pope.

David was particularly pleased with Heard. According to the records from the past two years, her faith and zeal for Scientology surpassed even that of Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers.

Like Nazanin Boniadi, these young women were not only believers but also valuable assets to Scientology—tools to be used when the time was right.

"Have you considered the purification task we discussed last time?"

"Yes." Without hesitation, Amber replied with a pious look, "I have thought it all through. I will guide the wounded and confused Matthew into the Church, so that he may be cleansed and healed."

David nodded slightly in satisfaction. "I will have Tom Cruise introduce you to him."

At the mention of Tom Cruise's name, a flicker of excitement crossed Amber's face, but she quickly suppressed it. She knew perfectly well that she couldn't touch Tom, who was under intense Scientology scrutiny, but Matthew was also an excellent choice.

"I will follow your instructions," Amber replied, her devout expression unwavering.

Honestly, if John Travolta hadn't preached that joining Scientology would give her more opportunities in Hollywood, she never would have come to this hellhole.

For two years she had been a meticulously faithful believer, two years of selling Scientology books, and she hadn't gotten a single chance to say a line on screen.

‘Damn this Scientology!’

She seethed internally but let none of it show. If anything, her two years in the cult had sharpened her acting skills.

But now, Matthew Horner...

When Amber first heard about the so-called "guidance" mission, she had instinctively thought of Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman in their time, and now Katie Holmes.

Was she being given the same chance?

So, no matter what David said, Amber was completely agreeable, presenting the perfect image of a true believer in Scientology.

After dismissing Amber and giving Begovich a few more instructions, David stood up and gazed out the window.

He ran through all the preparations in his mind one last time. Everything was now in place, just waiting for Matthew Horner to walk through the door.
