Chapter 79
Chapter 79
Tori’s POV
"Where's your Alpha, Ollie? He promised to stick by me, but he's nowhere in sight!" I complained to the Beta of Wolf Valley, holding my big belly that looked like I'd swallowed a watermelon. No surprise, 'cause I'm carrying Alexei’s twins.
"Chill, Tori! The Alpha will be here soon. He's on his way," Ollie reassured, though he looked pale and about to faint.
"Goddess, I'm gonna give that guy a piece of my mind! Swear to the moon deity, never sleeping with him again!" I said, feeling another pain. Lia, my sweet sister-in-law, helped me sit.
"My nephews are ready to meet the world, Tori. Let me help you deliver them," Lia encouraged, touching my belly. Tears filled my eyes as I looked at her. I gritted my teeth through the pain. My twins wanted out, but I wouldn't let them out until their dad was here. We promised each other that he would be by my side during my delivery. But where the heck was he?
"Come on, Tori. Don't be stubborn. Your hubby will be here soon. Let's go inside, ease the pain, and let your twins out," Lia insisted.
Pouting, I held Lia's hands while Ollie guided us inside. This pregnancy was tough, but with everyone's help, we made it through.
Thinking about it, having and delivering a baby is hard, but it feels so good making them.
I rolled my eyes and tried to steady my nerves mentally. Taking deep breaths, I knew Lia would act as the midwife, while Ollie and the others ran errands to get the items needed for my delivery.
"Your water bag already broke, Tori. Please, let my nephews come into the world," Lia's voice quivered as a sudden surge of pain hit my lower regions and abdomen.
I bit my lips hard, tasting blood on my tongue.
"Alexei! Where are you?!" I shouted into the emptiness, my words carried away by the wind.
My twins were ready to come out. I couldn't endure this any longer.
Right on time, the door to our room swung open. Anxiously, I glanced in that direction, my eyes welling up with tears as Alexei finally appeared.
He approached me slowly, reaching out to hold my hand. Tears started to gather in the corners of my eyes.
A gentle kiss on my forehead and the warmth of his hands covering mine brought a sense of comfort. I looked up, recognizing the familiar presence.
"Where have you been? I've been waiting for you for far too long," I whispered, my voice choked with sobs.
Alexei grew frantic, peppering my face with kisses to calm me down until I started feeling better.
"Sorry, my love. Something unexpected came up. But I wouldn't miss this for anything in the world. Remember, I made a promise to you?" he apologized, his voice filled with sincerity.
"Of course, I remember, you jerk! If not, I still wouldn't be here in pain!"
He kissed me once more, his way of apologizing.
Just then, another presence entered the door. This time, it was Serena, with Damon and Ashford trailing behind her, of course!
Lia coughed, drawing our attention back to the task. "Now, are we ready to deliver the twins? This couldn't wait any longer."
Alexei and I looked at each other before uttering the words of determination everyone was eager to hear.
"Yes, we're ready," we said in unison.
Lia nodded. "Alright, folks. Let's get started," she said bustling around to prepare for the delivery. The delivery room transitioned from determined to focused. I lay on the hospital bed, holding Alexei's hand tightly. The medical team, led by Lia, got ready to help bring our twins into the world.
As the pain increased, I breathed deeply, with Alexei by my side. Lia guided me through each contraction, keeping the room filled with the sounds of my labored breaths. As the pain intensified, I couldn't help but utter, “I can’t do this anymore. Make the pain stop! I give up…”
Alexei kept on giving me little kisses, encouraging me but I felt it wasn’t enough. Just then, the door burst open. Serena, now a picture of worry, rushed to my other side and held my hands.
“Come on, Tori! Don’t you dare give up! You need to focus on delivering your children safely. Remember your promise of becoming a better mother than Mathilde!” I bit my lower lip, trying not to muffle a cry. In one of our conversations, I had shared with Serena my dream of being the mother that my Mom failed to be in my life. I promised not to follow her ways and to be the best mom I could be for my twins.
With that, a surge of determination coursed through me. It calmed my nerves, and I was now ready to finish this difficult task. When the time came to push, Lia encouraged me. “You're doing great, Tori. Just a bit more effort, and we'll meet your babies."
Lia coached me through each push, and the room echoed with encouragement. Finally, the cries of our first baby filled the room. Lia held him up, announcing, "It's a boy!" Alexei and I shared a tearful, joyous glance.
As the medical team cared for our first baby, I prepared for the second. Soon, another cry joined the chorus. Lia handed me our second baby, saying, "Congratulations, it's a girl!"
Exhausted but happy, Alexei and I marveled at our two precious additions. Lia and the team continued their work, ensuring our well-being and that of our twins. The delivery room, once tense, now brimmed with the pure joy of welcoming new life.
After a few minutes, the storm was over. Now, I was in the recovery bed, surrounded by the people who mattered most to us.
“So, what’s the name of this little warrior?” Damon asked as he carried my son. Alexei smiled as he looked at me.
“Oliver, named after a powerful warrior and a great friend,” my husband answered. Lia and Ollie were shocked. Ollie hugged Alexei with gratefulness, honored for the gesture.
“And what about this little princess?” Serena asked. This time, I spoke.
“Serena, named after a powerful she-wolf who taught me the true meaning of repentance, second chances, and redemption.”
Serena’s tears welled up as she threw her arms around me. We both cried happy tears as the others were touched seeing us like this, as sisters, as we should have.
With a contented sigh, we continued to share this happy moment, surrounded by love and warmth, and everything seemed perfect in the world.
Then, I closed my eyes and uttered, “Thank you for this life.”
