The Alpha's Broken Slave

Chapter 60

Chapter 60

Alora.

The sound of someone screaming woke me up from my slumber. And opened my eyes to the dark room, my head ached badly and I hissed, sitting up while clenching it.

The loud screams came again and I turned to my left to see Ares and my mouth opened in shock.

He was kneeling on the floor, his palm resting on the floor as he screamed loudly again, it was so painful and sad. And I jumped out of the bed in horror. Ares seemed to be in a lot of pain and I saw the source.

His back that had the tattoo was glowing red like it had done before. This time I saw it very well, the letters of some language I didn't understand moved around his back as it glowed red, its color filling the room in a dark painful shade.

Ares gasped, his eyes clenched in so much pain, sweat filled his forehead as he growled loudly.

I stood back in fear as I thought of what to do. The last time I had accidentally touched him, he had grabbed my hand painfully. This time, I didn't know what to do.

But when Ares yelled again, my legs moved out of their own accord, crossing the room as Ares started to fall forward. I slid to my knees, catching his head as he fell against my chest and his eyes shut close.

My eyes widened in shock of having Ares in my arms, it was just like the time he had come back that night and rested against my chest tiredly. He breathed heavily for a second, his body trembling slightly as if he was scared of something.

I wrapped my arms around Ares, pulling him closer as he sighed before he calmed. He had torn off his shirt, its material discarded on the floor in torn pieces. And I took a closer look at his back.

The mark had stopped glowing, the letters had stopped moving too. Going back to the way it had been. Like a black drawing along his back.

I reached for it, my fingers pressed against the large circle that housed the two wolves' heads separated by a long line.

What does it mean?

I frowned, trailing my finger down the wolf head before I reached for the letters. They weren't familiar either, and I knew deep within me that it wasn't any of the letters I had seen in any of Jax's books back then in the forest.

These ones seemed different, another language maybe?

The markings weren't Ares' pack tattoo. He had that on the right side of his neck. A bloody wolf head with blood dripping down in a small pool underneath it.

So what was this mark on his back?

What did it mean?

And why did he have it?

A thousand questions rang through my head but I could think of no answer to it. I looked down at Ares who appeared to be asleep. His dark lashes resting against flushed cheeks, constantly fluttered like he was having a bad dream.

He groaned painfully, tightening his arms around me as I moved closer to him. He seemed to be in a lot of pain and it brought tears to my eyes to see such a powerful person crumble.

Ares had seemed so invincible, not letting anyone touch him or look at him in the wrong way.

But right now, in his dark empty estate, he showed his true self.

I pitied him.

He must have spent years alone in this big house, screaming in pain and battling with his own demons. With no one to hear him or pull him close.

Suddenly, every fear that I had felt earlier withered away, leaving behind sadness and pity as I held Ares, a tear dropped from my eyes and I didn't wipe them away.

I didn't want to let go of Ares for even a second.

My hair fell against my shoulders as I rested my head against Ares'. I noticed they had turned into the usual red like last and I wondered why.

Maybe it changed every night?

I ignored it as I looked outside the window. The moon shone brightly outside, almost full and I knew the pack ceremony was only two days away. The moon would be at its strongest, awakening every wolf to their greatest strength.

Ares stirred and I turned back to him. His eyes fluttered open gently and my heart thumped loudly in my chest as he pulled himself away from me.

I watched him silently as he growled, rubbing his temple that I realized had been bleeding. His eyes trailed from my laps to my face.

I resisted the urge to gasp at the color of his eyes. They were the brightest shade of blue I had ever seen. It wasn't the usual cold blue that had stared at me with hatred and anger.

This time, Ares' eyes were soft and warm. Filled with many emotions that I hadn't realized he was capable of feeling.

And as blood trailed down his temple, he appeared so vulnerable.

Like a kid that had gotten himself injured and looked up to his mother for care. Ares appeared like an injured wolf and I drew closer to him.

His eyes glittered at my movements and he stayed silent as I reached for his head, blood stained my finger and I looked down at my dress before tearing off some of it. It had too much material anyways.

The sound of ripping material filled the room and Ares said nothing, watching me in a silent awe. As I drew back my eyes to his head. I noticed the bandages around his torso were also stained with blood.

His gunshot wound had probably opened too.

I sighed, standing up to my feet as Ares followed my movement. He said nothing as I went to his bathroom. I had seen a first aid kit there and I had seen Isabel take care of my wounds to know how to clean one at the very least.

Finding the white box, I took it out to the bedroom to see Ares had moved from the floor to the bed. His eyes found mine again and I felt my stomach flutter at the sight of those blue eyes, calm and beautiful like the ocean.

I crossed the room, getting to the bed as Ares scooted to give me enough room to sit. I opened the box and found the white wool Isabel used to clean my wounds. And the transparent liquid that she used with it.

I dabbed a few on the wool and turned back to Ares. His eyes were on me watching me intently that I could feel it boring holes into my skin, but not in a creepy way.

His eyes were so warm so it felt like tingles.

I drew closer to him, raising my hand to his eyes and pushing back some of his black hair that fell past his eyes. They were so soft against my palm and I drew them on top of his head to join the rest.

Ares reached for my hair that rested against my shoulders. His blue eyes stared down at it in a silent admiration. He twirled the red bang in his fingers, running through it softly before he dropped it like he had touched fire.

I said nothing to it as I looked at the wound on his temple, it wasn't big enough to cause major blood loss so I touched it with the wool making Ares flinch in pain.

"Sorry.." I whispered to him, touching it gently but enough to clean the blood off.

Ares didn't make another noise again as I cleaned the rest of it, leaving it opened and dry. The bleeding had stopped but it wasn't healing yet.

With the full moon at its brink, every wolf was supposed to be reaching the peak of their powers.

I turned to the gunshot wound and reached for the scissors in the box, cutting the bandages off.

"Why aren't you healing?" I asked quietly, looking up at Ares who still kept his gaze fixed on me.

"Because of my curse." He answered and I let out a gasp in shock.

Curse?

The mark at his back was the curse?

It must have been what was causing his pain?

Curse? Who would have cursed him?

Why? What had he done wrong?

I said nothing even as my thousand questions roamed in my head. I gently cleaned off the wound. Mentally scolding myself for adding to his pain. The gunshot would was partially my fault, if only I had been an obedient little slave, then he wouldn't have gotten shot by Cameron.

"I need you to act as my lover for a few days." Ares suddenly spoke and I gasped, looking up at him.

His once bright and warm eyes had turned into their usual dark apathetic shade. They didn't look at me softly anymore. This time they were cold and dangerous and he stared at me with no emotions on his face.

Ares was back to his usual self and I lowered my gaze, feeling a sting in my heart and I didn't understand why.

"Ok." I whispered softly.

"Stay away from Ezra too. He's very smart and if he figures out you're not my lover, and you're my slave. He would throw you out of the pack and you better have luck finding your old master than meeting rogue hunters." Ares said coldly, his voice hard.

I nodded, feeling tears brim at my eyes at the mere thought of being thrown out of Ares' pack. Jax would find me the moment I left and he would do things to me that were far enough from my imaginations.

I had no choice but to do as Ares said.

He was my master afterall.

I finished cleaning the wounds, dropping the bloody wool and bandages in a small bag I had found in the box before I stood up to go wash my hand in the bathroom when Ares' voice stopped me in my tracks.

"Don't hold me like that anymore." His voice rang through my ears. My fingers clenched the box as anger ran through my veins.

"Don't touch me anymore. I'm your Alpha not a doll for you to hold. I'm your master, I own you. You don't own me, you don't get to pity me or help me either." Ares said and I resisted the urge to scoff as a tear ran down my cheeks.

"Yes, Alpha." I whispered before I went to the bathroom, dropping the box carelessly back on the shelves as I disposed of the bag, washing my hands in the sink in a silent anger.

Of course! That was the thank you I was going to get from him.

He was so arrogant and disrespectful!

This was the last time I was ever going to help him. He could wail and scream in pain for all I care. And I would be deaf to it all.

I came out of the bedroom and Ares was already up from his bed, putting on a dark robe as he went to the window. He walked carefully, his arm around his torso as he frowned in pain.

He staggered lightly and I quickly crossed to meet him when he turned to me sharply. His blue eyes, a dangerous shade of red, had me stopping in my tracks in fear.

"Get out!" He yelled at me and I stepped back. My legs shook in fear as my heart threatened to jump out of my chest.

I wasted no time as I sprinted out of his room, slamming the door behind me as I entered the dark hallway.

The sound of footsteps drew my attention to the staircase and I saw the elder standing there. He wore a white night robe that fell in bright waves around him. His white hair had been pulled in a ponytail making him appear very beautiful.

"You're a fool." He said in a cold voice that sent shivers down my spine. His next words made all the hair at the back of my hair stand.

"You can't feel pity for a monster."
