It took her by surprise, but I was getting tired of this.

Juliana's lips were moving, but she didn't utter a word. Nadia finally let her go, and she massaged her now red wrist.
" Get out of my presence, and don't show yourself to us again," Nadia ordered dangerously. Juliana obliged. I was still stunned as I watched her leave with her head hanging low. I felt hands on my cheeks, and I looked at Nadia, or should I say, my mother.
" Are you alright?" she asked, her voice gentle. I found myself taking in every detail of her face, her eyes, and her long lashes. I couldn't help it when I wrapped my arms around her, and she laughed softly.

She stroked my hair. I pulled away after a full minute. Tears rolled down her face, and I wiped them with my thumbs.
" I'm sorry, I didn't even notice I was crying," she whispered. She held my hand and took me to the closest couch to sit.
" I see the Prince told you who I am to you,"
" Yes, that you're my mother," I answered quietly. She squeezed my hand.
" And how do you feel about that?" she asked,
" I don't know yet. I haven't had time to process. But I'm not unhappy about it," I shrugged. Nadia seemed relieved.
" And you? How do you feel?"
" I was shocked at first, but I'm happy. I'm over the moon. My memories are coming to me, and I remember the first day I held you in my arms. You were so tiny and so adorable. The cutest baby in the world," she was smiling, recalling a precious memory. I couldn't help the smile on my face.
" Nalya, I want to know you better. I want to be by your side, as a mother should be," she said, and I nodded.
" I'd like to get to know you better too," I said.
Nadia hugged me again. We pulled apart when my mate entered the room.
" Ladies," my heart thundered when I heard Rhaegar's voice. We stood up, and he pulled me by the waist towards him. My body shivered in happiness as he kissed my neck.

" Juliana Tomson almost attacked her," Nadia said suddenly. I closed my eyes momentarily. I could feel Rhaegar's anger radiating off of him.

We went back to the party. My eyes searched for Layth, but he and his beta already left. I sent him a text.

He didn't respond for a few minutes, but it showed he opened my message.
Layth: That's a complex question for me right now>
Nalya: We should grab tea sometime soon>
His personal life was none of my business, but I wanted to ensure he was alright. After what Juliana said, he looked scared and panicked.
Layth: Okay.
Nalya: Sleep well, Layth.
