The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 599- The Shocking News

Chapter 599- The Shocking News

The beam of destruction carved straight through the Nest. From its core to the outer shell and beyond.

.

Far outside the city, the knights gathered atop a cliff and prepared to strike the Nest.

The colossal creature had been showing unusual movements and had gone through rapid changes.

Now it sprouted hundreds of tendrils out of its body and looked just like an overgrown tumor, nasty and disturbing to look at.

That was not all; dozens of eyes popped up all around its body, and a gigantic mouth big enough to swallow entire cities formed on its body.

From its transformation, it was clear that it was not far from reaching full growth. Once it fully matures, killing it would become more difficult.

And it would become a living, walking fortress of death that continuously spawned demons.

They needed to take it out here.

Standing at the front of the group, Erza looked at the nest with a complex expression. Though she didn’t remain in that state for long.

Once the Nest showed movements that were difficult to ignore, she steeled her mind and gave the orders to attack.

The gathered commanders prepared to attack when suddenly the sky above Lunaris was split open.

The gigantic crack that seemed like a scar in the very firmament shocked everyone present in the scene.

Sword in hand, they stood mid stance while looking at the sky in a daze.

Then came another surprise.

KIEEEEEEEKKK....

The nest screamed in a deafening manner, and its colossal body bloated even further.

Then BOOM, like an overinflated balloon, the nest’s body burst apart, and a pillar of white mist charged out of it.

It was large and glaring, like a pillar of pure white light, brilliant and beautiful.

It pierced through the nest and through the heavens themselves.

Then disappeared into the crack in the sky as if getting swallowed.

For a moment, the world was illuminated.

.

While the world outside was in turmoil, the inside of the nest was ironically silent.

After getting hit with that attack from Reinhardt, the fleshy walls of the nest were cracking and withering into blackened ash fast.

Although it was trying to regenerate, the attack was no simple flesh wound; it was destroying it from within.

The nest was dying.

Reinhardt stood silently, looking at the spot where Sir Giacomo had been.

He closed his eyes, and after paying a few seconds of respect to the fallen hero, he turned away.

Although all of his skills were visually impactful, even among all that, [Ascendant Strike] stood above the others.

Not only was it an extremely powerful skill, but the range of its effect was too large and it was too much of a visual spectacle.

That last strike of his had gone far beyond what was necessary for a single opponent.

It had carved through an entire city.

Even he could feel the lingering distortion in the air, the faint instability left behind by that overwhelming force.

That was precisely why he had never used it before.

For most enemies, even those at the peak, a simple [Exalted Strike] would have sufficed.

Powerful, controlled, and most importantly, precise.

On the other hand, not only was [Ascendant Strike] a more powerful skill, but it was also indiscriminate.

That said, his enemy this time was the colossal Abyss Nest.

A growing calamity, something that could not be allowed even the slightest chance to move from this place.

And so, he chose the most destructive skill in his arsenal.

The nest would die in a few moments; that end was irreversible.

Having taken care of everything he needed to do here, Reinhardt found Cecilia amidst the ruins.

Apart from her being frozen in a daze, there was no scratch or wound on her body.

The Aegis had done a splendid job of protecting her.

When Reinhardt walked up to her, she stared at him inexplicably; her mind struggled to grasp what she had just witnessed.

"Can you stand?"

Cecilia blinked, as if returning from a distant place, then gave a small, uncertain nod.

"...Yes."

Reinhardt nodded and kept the halo back in his [Dimensional Storage].

"Stay close."

After that, he led her out of the nest.

"Yes."

Cecilia once again replied affirmatively.

Though this time, she was no longer dazed.

She quietly stared at the man who came into this hellhole to save her.

She didn’t know anything about him or why he was searching for her.

However, for some reason, her senses were telling her that she could trust him.

It was a weird feeling, and she had no way of putting it into words.

Thankfully, the silence worked for her.

For now, that alone was enough.

Reinhardt led the way while Cecilia followed two steps behind.

.

Outside, it was total chaos.

Knights from multiple kingdoms gathered near the cliffs overlooking Lunaris, with stunned expressions.

"Did you see the sky?! Did it really crack or are my eyes playing tricks on me?"

"No, your eyes are fine. I saw a gigantic pillar of light charging towards that crack earlier. Although I don’t know why it appeared and disappeared all of a sudden."

"Could it be caused by an attack?"

"Huh? Are you insane? What kind of attack can shatter the sky? It must have been a phenomenon caused by the nest."

A commotion had erupted among the knights when suddenly someone shouted.

"Look! The nest is collapsing!"

At that moment, all eyes turned towards the nest covering the city in the distance.

At this moment, the grotesque tumor-like exterior of the nest started shrinking and cracking, its surface peeling away like dying skin.

Ashes drifted off from the edges, disintegrating into nothing.

The scene was almost too familiar for them.

When a demon they turn into ash, and right in front of them, the same scene was happening.

At that instant, realization dawned on them.

"It’s dying?! The nest is dying!"

"Did someone kill it?!"

Awe and disbelief spread among the crowd.

The death of the Nest was undoubtedly good news for them.

If they were to fight that thing, who knew how many casualties they would have to take.

The joy and excitement in members of the Temple of Light was even more profound.

While most of the other knight orders did not know who it was that killed the nest, how could they not recognize the power that had taken everyone by surprise.

All the members of the Temple of Light knew that there was only one man capable of doing such a thing.

It had to be their commander.

Not far, at the edge of the cliff, Erza, donned in her crimson black armor, watched the scene in silence.

Arms crossed and cloak fluttering with the wind behind her, she gave off a beautiful yet heroic atmosphere.

Unlike the others, her eyes weren’t masked with joy or confusion.

They were cold, calculating, and composed.

She had felt it, the strike earlier.

The attack that shattered the sky.

The moment it tore through the Nest and split the sky itself.

Power like that, its essence was something she was quite familiar with.

"Tch, of course it was you..."

She clicked her tongue softly.

That insufferable man, even until the end, he made a mess.

A while later, two figures emerged from the half disintegrated corpse of the Abyss Nest.

Although they looked slightly disheveled, they were alive and unharmed.

What’s more, from the unbothered way they walked out, it was as if they had gone for a casual stroll inside the Abyss Nest.

"Commander!!"

The moment the knights of the Temple of Light saw the figure walking in front, they rushed towards him, crowding him from all sides.

Who could the figure who commanded such respect from the members of the Temple of Light be other than Reinhardt?

Reinhardt exchanged a few words with his knights before walking towards the camp in the distance.

Most of the knights wore expressions of confusion and disbelief.

Earlier, when they saw the Temple of Light coming out of the mouth of the nest, they were quite shocked.

Who knew their commander would be even more insane and choose to stay inside the stomach of the nest for this long?

While the knights were shocked, the expressions of the commanders were even more complex.

Until just a moment ago, they were ready to attack the nest and sacrifice Reinhardt as inevitable collateral.

Now standing in the face of that man, they did not have the courage to match his eyes.

Of course, not everyone was like that.

"Had you come up any later, we would have to fetch your corpse from the ruins."

Erza spoke, walking out of the crowd.

She looked at the completely unharmed figure of Reinhardt and was inwardly surprised in her heart.

"I hope you got what you wanted, or else you just wasted all of our time."

Reinhardt did not answer; he simply stepped aside and revealed the figure of a person trying to hide herself behind him.
