That Little Mess Between the Vampire and the Paladin

Chapter 30

Chapter 30

Chapter 30. Sudden Change

No one had expected the situation to change so quickly.

Kyle had not yet released his own aura and was still trying to restrain himself. But in secret, he had already issued an order to Alvaro, who was hidden within a spatial rift.

“Leave!”

Inside the Duke’s Mansion, the elders of all races suddenly changed expressions.

That newly rising, undisguised killing intent pierced into everyone’s souls like tangible icicles.

Without the slightest hesitation, they decisively turned into streaks of light with their subordinates and fled this dangerous place at the fastest possible speed.

At the same time, the entire Coral Thorn City fell into unprecedented panic.

All professionals in the city—whether tavern mercenaries, guild adventurers, or private soldiers of noble houses—now shared only a single thought:

Run!

Like startled birds and beasts, they desperately circulated their battle qi, magic power, or bloodline strength, rushing toward the nearest city gates or ports.

This new aura had already become a clear signal.

In the past, even when powerful individuals fought within the city, such terrifying killing intent had never appeared.

This clearly meant that a powerhouse had truly become enraged. No one dared gamble on whether staying would still be safe. Escaping with their lives was the priority.

As for ordinary people, they had already collapsed to the ground, even breathing becoming difficult.

They could only curl up in the deepest corners of their homes, trembling in fear and praying that disaster would not descend upon them.

The spiritual powers of Bartos, Sarkhad, and Claudi instantly linked again—this time also including Gann·Cole.

‘Damn it! Didn’t we agree to keep it under control?! This looks like they’re about to tear the city apart!’ Bartos roared furiously through the mental link.

‘How the hell should I know! Transcendent! Absolutely Transcendent! Damn it! Robert hid himself this deeply?! What do we do now—retreat?’

Sarkhad could no longer maintain his noble composure.

‘Retreat? If we retreat now, those two will probably start fighting the next second! If we stay here, they might still have some restraint! If we leave, Coral Thorn City will probably disappear in the blink of an eye!’

Gann·Cole hurriedly stopped that dangerous idea.

The veteran adventurer’s body was tense. His experience told him that any rash movement at this moment could become the spark that ignited everything.

‘Then what do we do? Just stand here and watch? That Robert usually pretends to be such a nice old man, but now he flips his face faster than flipping a book!’

Bartos struggled to keep the mental link stable.

He happened to be standing between Robert and Kyle, making him the most uncomfortable one present.

‘Hold on! At least wait until our people have mostly evacuated! If we can stall even a little time, then that’s something!’

Claudi glanced toward the direction of his family’s estate. Even though it was several kilometers away and hidden behind the rain curtain, he could still clearly see the crowds fleeing in panic through the downpour.

***

Robert’s expression flickered uncertainly.

The energy surging around him was as oppressive as the sea before a storm.

He had miscalculated.

He had never expected Kyle to be this uncompromising.

Originally, he thought revealing his Transcendent-level strength would force Kyle to back down. But he had never imagined the response would be such an ironclad stance—even one that seemed ready to drag both sides down together!

And judging from the situation, the other party even seemed confident he could make Robert “stay” here?!

What arrogance!

Could this guy also be Transcendent? Or did he have some other hidden trump card?

He dared not gamble.

Robert had investigated Kyle’s background before. Although the man’s true identity remained unclear, he was almost certainly a member of some reclusive ancient family.

No one knew what kind of foundations those long-surviving ancient families possessed.

In the end, it was still his own impulsiveness.

After hearing Kyle’s grand speech, he had actually believed that the man might truly be some idealist who pitied all living beings.

Yet he had forgotten that this vampire’s foothold in Coral Thorn City had never come from lofty rhetoric—but from unfathomable strength and ruthless decisiveness.

But now the arrow was already on the string and had to be released.

Kyle had made it very clear: in the future of Coral Thorn City, there would be no place for the Shadow Guild.

As the highest controller of the Shadow Guild here, both enormous profits and the organization’s dignity prevented him from bowing his head.

Either he found a way to transform the guild’s operations…

Or he flipped the table entirely.

As for asking the rest of the guild for help?

Would it matter?

This vampire clearly had no intention of letting them “play along.”

Just as he hesitated—

The surrounding light suddenly dimmed in an instant!

***

Many adventurers fled while secretly watching the changes around the central tower.

But only moments after that murderous aura spread across the entire city, a horrifying sight appeared before their eyes.

An ancient and heavy metal gate suddenly appeared in the sky.

The opened metal doors were like the gaping maw of an abyss.

In the blink of an eye, the hundreds-of-meters-tall central tower was swallowed from top to bottom!

The four oppressive auras above everyone’s heads vanished together with the tower, disappearing without a trace.

“A Domain!!!”

Several well-informed Grandmaster-level experts cried out in shock.

That was a domain possessed only by Legendary powerhouses!

Wait—no!

How could such a place possibly have a Legendary powerhouse?!

If it was not a Legendary powerhouse, then there was only one possibility—

A Legendary creature!

A very small number of extraordinary lifeforms were born with transcendent traits. This allowed them to possess terrifying innate abilities far beyond their own realm.

Those terrifying beings who could wield Legendary-level abilities without reaching the Legendary realm were known as—

Legendary creatures!

“What kind of dragon’s lair is this place?! It even has a Legendary creature?! And one with space-type abilities—one of the strongest among domains?!”

“This place is not safe to stay in! This old man will take his leave first!”

“What are you afraid of? It’s obviously not targeting us!”

“Then you stay!”

Everyone else looked at him like he was an idiot and fled even faster.

Caitlin, once again wrapped in a black cloak, followed the fleeing crowd while anxiously watching the direction where the tower had disappeared.

She vaguely felt that this matter had something to do with her younger brother.

But she was only a Viscount (Master-level). After enduring the pressure of those several terrifying auras just now, she was already feeling dizzy.

“Sigh…”

Caitlin could not help but sigh inwardly.

It felt as though those relaxed and happy days of the past were drifting further and further away.

Damn those werewolves!

***

Robert and the others were also shocked by the sudden change.

Everyone’s aura surged to its peak in an instant.

“Kyle! What is the meaning of this?! Are you planning to make enemies of all of us?”

Sarkhad’s furious roar exploded within the dead silence of darkness, carrying both the rage of being deceived and a faint trace of fear.

Within the endless darkness, only the violent torrents of energy surrounding the few of them shone.

But even the light seemed to be constantly swallowed. Even the ground beneath their feet could only barely be seen.

“Sigh…”

Kyle’s voice echoed from all directions.

It carried a trace of helplessness, yet was as cold as the polar wind, wandering endlessly within the silent darkness.

“Gentlemen… I too didn’t want things to come to this.”
