Chapter 509: The Road to Destiny
Chapter 509: The Road to Destiny
When Kagami and Kaguya appeared, they found themselves drifting in a vast, empty void.
There was no ground beneath them, no sky above, no stars to break the monotony—just an infinite, blank expanse stretching endlessly in every direction.
The air, if it could even be called that, hung heavy and motionless around them, as though they had stepped into the quiet space that exists between one thought and the next.
Kaguya’s mirrored eyes darted around, her twelve tails swaying slowly behind her as she spread her Mana Sense outward in wide, searching waves.
The sense rippled through the emptiness, but it returned nothing — no landmarks, no energy signatures, no life.
"Grandfather, where... are we?" she asked, her voice echoing strangely in the void. "This doesn’t feel like any Reality I’ve ever sensed. It’s just... empty."
Kagami scratched the back of his head, his expression a mix of confusion and mild annoyance.
"I’m not entirely sure either," he admitted. "The teleportation should have taken us straight to the one watching you — or at least to their domain. But something interfered and knocked us off course."
He raised his hand, and a large, ornate mirror materialized in front of him — his personal tool for glimpsing the Greater Narrative.
The mirror’s surface was flawless, reflecting not just their forms but faint, shifting threads of possible futures and hidden connections.
"And that is?" Kaguya asked, trying to read into his artifact, but finding nothing to latch onto.
Kagami gave her a raised brow before realization dawned on him.
"You haven’t stepped onto the Road of Omnipotence yet..." he said.
Kaguya tilted her head, curiosity piqued. "The Road of Omnipotence... is that some kind of power?"
Kagami chuckled softly. "Honestly, I don’t know much about the Road myself. Being part of the Ineffable Pantheon... we tend to rank up in mysterious ways," he replied, shifting to explain the artifact.
"What I do know is that we all exist within a Greater Narrative," he continued, "and those who walk this road can see or even manipulate it. This artifact gives me the ability to do just that."
Kaguya nodded slowly, still not fully grasping the concept, but choosing to let him concentrate on the task before them.
He gazed into the mirror with unwavering focus; his attention locked on the mysterious presence that had been observing Kaguya.
Slowly, he traced the unseen threads of fate and story, searching for the most efficient route forward.
After a brief pause, his expression sharpened.
"...Interesting," he murmured. "Destiny herself has ascended to Stage 4 Omnipotence. She’s subtly influencing the Greater Narrative — which explains why we didn’t emerge directly within her realm."
"Right now, we’re traveling along a path that leads to a place known as the Prime Expanse."
HUMMM!!!
The moment those words left his mouth, a white, milky road began to form beneath their feet.
It stretched forward into the void like a luminous path made of liquid light, glowing softly and guiding them deeper into the emptiness.
Kagami lowered the mirror, glancing at his granddaughter.
"Looks like we have our direction."
Kaguya stared at the newly appeared road, her mirrored eyes reflecting its glow.
"Then let’s not waste time."
-----
For the first hour, it was nothing but that — a simple, quiet walk through the endless void. The road stretched infinitely ahead, glowing softly under their feet, with no landmarks or changes in scenery.
The further they walked, the more Kaguya’s expression shifted. She tilted her head slightly, spreading her senses outward.
"Do you feel that?" she asked. "The mana levels... they’re rising. Slowly, but steadily."
Kagami shook his head, his tone still relaxed.
"No, I don’t use mana anymore. We Gods and Constellations wield something far more profound... called Divinity. You’ll learn about it soon enough."
They walked on in silence for a while before Kaguya spoke again, her voice tinged with curiosity and a trace of lingering resentment.
"So... what kind of man is that bastard anyway? The one you follow now."
Kagami let out a wry laugh.
"I don’t often get to see him directly. But from what I have seen... he’s nothing but a monster wearing an oddly beautiful face."
Kaguya scoffed, her twelve tails flicking behind her.
"How much bigger of a monster could he be after trying to wipe out our entire clan?"
That earned a brief silence from Kagami. He didn’t respond immediately, knowing she had no idea of the full scale of what the Ineffable Pantheon had done — or what they were truly capable of.
Before he could reply, a powerful voice echoed loudly through the void.
"Intruders."
HUMMMMM!!!!!
In that moment, vast amounts of mana surged forth.
Thousands of 19th and 20th Dimensional warriors rose from the milky road and the surrounding emptiness — elite guardians clad in glowing armor, weapons drawn and auras blazing.
Kagami smiled faintly, his eyes narrowing.
"Destiny is altering the Narrative again."
Kaguya frowned, her mirrored eyes scanning the incoming forces.
"I truly need to understand that concept..."
They exchanged a brief glance and without any further words... they moved.
-----
Way in the Prime Expanse, Destiny watched them.
She sat in her endless white expanse, fingers idly weaving the golden threads of fate. Her golden eyes narrowed as she observed Kagami and Kaguya fighting along the white milky road.
’How...?’
Like mentioned by Kagami, she had indeed altered the Narrative.
And the moment they reappeared, they should have been redirected to the Road to the Negative — a one-way path of no return, a place where even the strongest beings eventually faded into oblivion.
Yet here they were, fighting on the true road to the Prime Expanse with no visible struggle at all.
Her expression darkened slightly.
She fixed her gaze on Kaguya.
’Why does it feel like she’s slowly disappearing? Could she be connected to the Father’s side?’ she wondered.
Kaguya’s existence thread was peculiar — it was gradually fading, becoming harder to perceive, much like Kagami’s, who had no Destiny thread at all. It was as if they were both slipping beyond her reach.
Destiny’s fingers moved with deliberate precision.
HUMMM!!!
And in a mere moment, she altered Kaguya’s Destiny.
A new thread was woven — one that led directly toward death. A fatal encounter waiting further down the road, something even a being of her level would find difficult to survive.
Destiny leaned back, a faint, satisfied smile touching her lips.
"Let’s see how you handle this one."
