Chapter 451: The Fear That Trembles

Chapter 451: The Fear That Trembles

Fear wears a crown of silent screams; its throne built from every unspoken dread.

It roams the endless corridors of hearts, whispering endings no one else dares to name.

But in the deepest chamber of its realm, fear begins to tremble.

Its many hands grasp at nothing, its countless eyes avoiding every gaze.

For there is someone who walks its halls, untouched by any chain it ever forged. Someone who never flinches at its touch, never bows beneath its weight, never gives it the tribute of a single breath.

Fear, the ancient devourer of courage, now cowers in its own shadow.

It learns a harsh truth—the only thing it truly fears is the one who was never afraid of it to begin with.

-----

Eight thousand years had slipped by in what felt like the blink of an eye for all beings.

But the instant the deadline arrived, those in True Reality didn’t waste a moment finalizing the change.

The very second the final year ended, an unseen ripple swept across all eighteen organisms, touching them in ways beyond comprehension.

When it passed, everything—every facet of existence—was reset, and each being emerged countless times stronger than they had ever been before.

In a private, secure projection chamber drifting in the void between Organisms, three figures connected through glowing screens.

The Merchant — a Fire Genasi with warm bronze skin and hair like flowing lava — sat with poise, sipping star-blossom tea.

The Thief — tall and lean, with messy gray hair and sharp, playful silver eyes — lounged casually, flipping a stolen coin between his fingers.

Fear — a man whose very presence seemed to swallow the light around him, his face half-hidden by shifting shadows — leaned in, speaking in a low, rasping whisper.

The Merchant spoke first, her hair shimmering with excitement.

"After eight millennia... the game has finally resumed," she said with a faint smile. "With everything reset, the state of these beings’ existence will rise..."

"That’s why we’ve joined forces... As things are about to get much more difficult."

The Thief clicked his tongue, catching the coin mid-spin.

"Tch, seems like we’ve only been worrying about the newest champion these past years," he said, then continued.

"Ash Originat... leader of the ’Ineffable’ Pantheon." He paused briefly.

"I don’t get the fuss. A new champion should make him weaker than any of us... yet somehow, he’s got the biggest target on his back."

Fear’s shadowy form shifted, his voice laced with unease.

"How don’t you get the fuss?"

"A whole eight thousand years of preparation... and we still know almost nothing," he said. "Clearly there’s more to this guy than we think..."

The Merchant set her cup down, her orange eyes gleaming.

"Indeed, which is why I’ve purchased extra lives for us—five, to be exact," she said, waving her hand as a subtle glow washed over the two men.

And... their names, well titles weren’t just for show.

The Merchant possessed a system that quite literally allowed her to buy anything.

No matter the history, rarity, or how impossible it seemed—as long as it existed in Reality as a concept, item, or otherwise—she could purchase it.

She lowered her hand as she continued, "These lives... we have to use them wisely." Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"This will be my only help to you... as you know, things will return to normal once he’s dealt with."

She went on to explain more, including their plan to discover exactly which organism the Ineffable were inhabiting.

They also intended to use those extra lives solely to observe, probe, and gather as much information as possible before executing their final plan.

The Thief nodded, flipping the coin once more.

"That feels so... old-fashioned, but if that’s the plan, I’ll start scouting the major Organisms," he said.

Fear leaned in toward the screen, his shadowed features contorting with intensity.

"We locate their base, analyze their vulnerabilities, and when the opportune moment arrives... we strike." He paused deliberately, his voice dropping lower.

"After that... we can dispense with this amicable pretense."

The Merchant’s lips curved into a calculated smile, flames flickering elegantly along her fingertips.

"Agreed.... We will commence without delay."

"The Ineffable Pantheon... Ash Originat... they will never anticipate what is coming."

With that, the three Champions terminated the projection, each vanishing to undertake their own meticulous preparations.

----

And while those three dispersed to begin the hunt for the Ineffable Pantheon, the beings in question themselves were gearing up to head back into Reality.

They were still in the throne room and had spent a few hours together, eating Earth-like foods and sharing light conversation before things got a bit hectic.

Ash stood up from the table, his presence immediately drawing every eye in the room.

"It’s time to begin," he said, voice casual as ever. "Everyone already knows their targets. With the help of Elysia, it won’t take long for us to find the other Champions."

He looked at his children, then flashed a smile.

"Your goals are to completely erase each dimension and only save those you deem worthy. Start from the Lower Dimension and meet us back in the High Dimension."

Hearing this none of the children were shocked or had any differing emotions. Over the last eight millennia they had matured enough to know the result of having power.

Vaeloria smiled, as her twelve tails moved erratically. "Hopefully they gave these beings enough cheats to keep up with us."

Madison laughed, cracking her knuckles. "Yea right, especially after our last evolutions... I’m not sure much will change at all."

The rest of the wives chimed in with their own eager or determined responses — some playful, some serious, all ready.

The children reacted with a mix of excitement and resolve.

Quell stood tall and flashed a smile. "We don’t have a deadline, do we?"

"No," Ash said as he could already see the thoughts forming in his son’s mind now. "Though, don’t waste time either, we have many things to do."

The others nodded, each showing their own fire.

Ash looked at Drake and Ellyn specifically.

"You two are coming with me."

With that, he disappeared with those two in a thought....

Seeing them go, the rest of the family exchanged glances, then began to move as well, each heading toward their assigned targets.
