Chapter 300: Untitled
Chapter 300: Untitled
The people in the camp heard the gunshot and the moment they did. Corey’s men were about to attack but they couldn’t thanks to Brayden’s people pulling out their guns just in time, pointing them in their direction.
They couldn’t do anything unless they wished to die because these people were willing to shoot them dead should they try to test them.
However, they didn’t know what happened and that was the only thing stopping them from executing these people.
It couldn’t be a zombie either, Brayden was too skilled to use a gun on a zombie he could easily take out with a melee weapon.
This would lead them right to them, something that Brayden went out of his way to prevent.
"No one fucking moves. There is no need to escalate this situation..." A man said; the women, elderly and children were visibly tense.
Who could blame them, the life they knew was about to come to an end and they didn’t even know what was responsible for the gunshot.
However, there was one certain thing, everyone was going to fight for this camp because they knew what it represented.
It wasn’t just a camp but a place where they had buried their loved ones and if it meant they had to die to protect it, so be it.
Luckily, before things could escalate, Glenn and Rachel arrived just in time to de-escalate the situation.
"Stop it!" Glenn screamed at the top of his lungs, hopeful that they would listen to him.
Glenn wasn’t a stranger here, and they recognized him the moment he came into sight.
"Glenn?" One of them muttered but their guns were soon raised in his direction as they knew he was with these people.
The timing couldn’t be a coincidence and they had no other choice than to treat him like a hostile.
Glenn and Rachel raised their hands to show that they were no threat but Glenn’s eyes began to dart around, looking for Corey and Andre, who he presumed to still be the leader, unaware of the fate that befell him.
"Where is Corey!?" He asked outright, hoping that the worst-case scenario hadn’t already played out.
One of his men grinned before saying.
"Probably put a bullet in that fucker’s brain as we speak," They mocked and a gunshot echoed, tearing right through their kneecap to bring them to their knees.
"Say it again!" Brayden’s men threatened and Glenn knew that the situation would only escalate if he didn’t intervene.
"Hey, everyone calm down!" Glenn shouted, drawing all the attention to himself as he began to walk slowly towards them with his hands still above his head.
Glenn was tempted to tell them about the plans that Corey and his men had but that would only result in one thing, their deaths.
There was no way that Mariam would accept something so brazen happening without punishment as it would be suspicious if they were the only ones returning.
Glenn had to think fast because one wrong move would destroy everything they worked hard for.
Dimitris must have heard the gunshots or even Corey.
The only thing left was to wait for either one of them to return, hoping that they weren’t dead.
It would be good news for everyone if Corey was killed but it would only agitate his sociopathic men.
But they soon heard the bushes rustling in the direction the two went in.
The tension was evident because if only one returned, then there was no telling what would happen.
Glenn looked at Rachel, that look was to inform her she should prepare to run if things escalate.
There was no point in them throwing away their lives for an outcome they couldn’t prevent.
Glenn regretted that Dimitris wasn’t the one here or things would have gone a lot differently.
He knew that Dimitris had experience with this sort of thing but unfortunately, he was the one that could make it here in time.
But he had faith that it wasn’t too late and his faith was rewarded as both Brayden and Corey came into view.
Everyone was shocked because they were certain that one of them had bitten the dust.
"What the hell is going on?" Brayden asked sternly, noticing that one of Corey’s men was injured.
The person who shot him couldn’t muster any words because he knew he had crossed a line.
"Get him some help," Brayden commanded and his men realized that Brayden was no longer treating them like hostiles.
Corey’s eyes caught a glimpse of Glenn’s as a smirk dressed his wicked face.
The truth was, Corey never attempted to execute Brayden in those bushes, all he did was shoot an infected bird that was swooping down at Brayden.
This was a coincidence as there was no telling if he did plan to execute Brayden prior but the bird coming down at the exact moment provided an opportunity for him to earn the trust of the man.
And that plan worked out perfectly because Brayden welcomed them with open arms.
Brayden saw Glenn and this only strengthened his faith that these men were here on good terms.
"Glenn? It has been so long! I wasn’t aware these people were with you or I would have treated them kinder!" Brayden exclaimed with a smile.
Rachel was surprised that these were the people that they wished to exterminate even more, she sensed no form of hostility emitting from Brayden.
She now understood why Glenn was so desperate to save them and if their relationship was as strong as it was, then he was the only one that could tell Brayden what they planned to do.
However, before they could engage in a conversation, Corey appeared out of nowhere and wrapped his arm around Glenn.
"Wow Glenn, you didn’t tell me you knew him..." Corey successfully cut off any means of Glenn telling Brayden what was happening at that moment.
Brayden sighed in amazement before excusing himself to properly welcome their guest.
To Brayden, they had just found the solution to all of their problems but that was far from the case.
