Chapter 881 220: Entering the Capital (Career) (3)

Of course, there are no foreign beauties here either.

"These are the women around me, and someday I want to marry them."

"Quite the charmer, haha, but given your looks, it's understandable."

At this point, Xu Lin had gained moral exemption.

"Not too bad." This time, Xu Lin really blushed.

Xu Lin said, "This uncle of mine has been really good to me, if possible, keep an eye on him occasionally."

Xu Lin was referring to Yu Jianhua.

"Uncle?"

"He's also my father-in-law, one of them."

Xu Lin: "He's a clean guy, never embezzling, never messing around with relationships, not forming cliques, but I reckon he'll be stuck in the same place all his life without any accidents."

"No worries, I'll keep a tag on the old guy!"

In fact, not long after, Yu Jianhua's backer toppled. These days, being clean is useless; you need the big shots above to not screw up, or else you'll be dragged down too.

As the ancients say, when one prospers, all prosper; when one suffers, all suffer.

See if you're the unlucky one.

Xu Lin had already given Yu Jianhua a helping hand in advance.

Xu Lin: "I don't have much more to say for now."

"Just that?"

"Slow and steady wins the race."

"Haha."

"Actually, I don't seem to want much. As a person, I don't have major issues in life, material enjoyment is just fine, and when it comes to women, there's just a few."

"Contentment is key," the other person said.

"Right, contentment is happiness," Xu Lin nodded.

He understood that contentment also meant knowing when to stop, not taking everything, not asking for too much, and this was good for everyone.

A little past five, Xu Lin declined the invitation to tonight's state banquet.

He went to find Pei Danqing.

Dining with a bunch of people older than his dad, honestly, isn't very comfortable.

Social dinners never really hit the spot; you have to mind your actions when picking dishes, and there's a manner to eating.

If you can avoid unpleasant things, then don't do them.

Pei Danqing drove over to pick him up.

"What did you talk about today?"

"Nothing much."

Xu Lin briefly explained to her, and Pei Danqing understood immediately.

Later, the two went for a meal.

Pei Danqing had no interest in shopping.

So Xu Lin directly took her to a hotel.

As soon as they stepped in, he locked the door.

Xu Lin started stripping Pei Danqing's clothes.

"Why so eager?"

"Time apart makes the heart grow fonder! Besides, don't say you don't want it too!"

"Don't talk about that."

Pei Danqing blushed; sultry words were not something she was used to saying.

But during this time, she truly had missed Xu Lin, physically and emotionally.

So, she occasionally took care of herself.

This was something Xu Lin had taught her, to handle her loneliness, something she had never done before.

Xu Lin never shunned these topics with his women.

Because people are just like that.

"For so long, and you still won't let loose."

Xu Lin smirked.

"Seriously, your head is filled with too much nonsense."

"As if you don't enjoy it as well. I admit my lust, but you can't deny you're no different."

Pei Danqing said nothing; she did enjoy it, but how could she admit that?

"Why are you wearing so much today?"

Xu Lin wanted to take off her clothes, but he found buttons to unbutton, not to mention there were two layers of button-up clothing, a coat and a shirt inside.

Xu Lin found himself annoyed with the buttons, ignoring the fact that he himself was wearing a suit, jacket, and shirt with buttons, too.

"It's cold, I have to wear more, unlike you," Pei Danqing shot him a glance.

"True."

"Can't you wear more layers usually? It's cold now, and this isn't the warmer southern region."

Pei Danqing tugged at Xu Lin's clothing, realizing he was only wearing a suit jacket and inners, just one piece, when the highest temperature in the Capital City today was only 4 degrees.

"I'm not cold."

Xu Lin leaned back on the bed, spreading his legs, striking a manly pose.

Pei Danqing was familiar enough to know what Xu Lin meant with this pose.

"It feels like you came to the Capital City just for this."

Pei Danqing sounded a bit resentful.

Xu Lin: "Hey, that's not fair. If we examine it carefully, think about it, Marx believed that humanity must first meet basic survival needs such as food, clothing, housing, and transportation before engaging in economic, political, intellectual, scientific, religious, and other activities. So, first, he sees food, clothing, housing, and transportation as the most essential and basic needs for us humans, isn't that right?"

"Right."

Pei Danqing nodded.

"So does food, clothing, housing, and transportation include our affairs between men and women?"

Perhaps Marx was conservative, leaving some things unsaid, whether it was because he hadn't thought of it or didn't want to say it.

If he were more candid like Freud, proposing the theory of sexual repression that many struggle to accept or feel ashamed to discuss, considering it a huge sacrifice for the development of civilization, while also arguing that many societal issues stem from the inability to relieve such repression.

Xu Lin found some Western philosophers and economists to be quite unique; they had some very bold and candid thoughts, like Freud was one, and also the Austrian School of Economics which emphasized analyzing economic activities starting from the individual, advocating individualism rather than discussing society and the state as grand and abstract concepts.

This just scratches the surface; the content of the Austrian School of Economics is vast and complex, not something to be summed up briefly.

Reading requires discernment, and those with independent thinking and logical skills understand that every thought has its breeding ground; it's unwise to follow them all blindly, because any given ideology is just one perspective, while the development of human civilization inevitably proves the complexity and diversity of human society.

Xu Lin had read many books, all sorts of them.

"Isn't that so?"

Director Pei nodded.

"So let's sleep before talking about anything else. Be good, it's been a while since I've seen you."

"You haven't seen me in a long time, and when I message you, you rarely respond."

"Busy, bear with me."

Xu Lin felt a bit awkward.

But he was indeed too busy to want to spend time chatting online.

Besides, he had several women around him.

He was even less inclined towards online chatting.
