Chapter 266: Don’t Push Me
Chapter 266: Don’t Push Me
Wu Yue looked at the pile of miserably dead mosquitoes and said, speechless, "If you’re going to swat them, can’t you just throw them somewhere else? Isn’t it gross to keep them right here?"
Qingcao lifted her chin. "Well, it doesn’t bother me. But I have no idea if it bothers the mosquitoes.
I’m going to leave the bodies of their comrades here as a warning, so they know the consequences of biting me!"
With that, she pulled Wu Yue toward the other side of the pool. "Let’s go over there. We’re too close to those leaves. They always make me a little scared."
She glanced back at the spot, still a bit shaken. "That place used to be really popular with wild boars. It only got better after the Beastman Warriors killed all the ones in this area.
But even so, boars still show up from time to time to eat those big leaves. They’re so gluttonous they’ll risk their lives for a snack."
Wu Yue looked at the patch of plants Qingcao mentioned, a little puzzled. ’What kind of plant could make wild boars linger like that?’ she wondered. ’Could it be even better than the taro she and Yuan Lang found last time?’
But the longer Wu Yue looked, the more excited she became.
Her attention had been on the pool before, so she hadn’t paid much mind to the surrounding plants.
Now that she was looking, she realized the leaves were identical to the taro they had found before.
At that, Wu Yue instantly shot up from the water, her eyes fixed on the seemingly endless expanse of taro leaves.
Qingcao wiped the water droplets from her face and looked up at her suddenly stiff companion. "What’s wrong? Is there danger?"
With that, she stood up as well.
Wu Yue snapped out of her excitement, only to turn and be faced with a side of streaky pork...
’My eyes! My poor titanium-alloy-whatever eyes!’
Wu Yue felt her whole world tilting. ’Where is your sense of shame?’
She pretended to be calm and sat back down in the water, waving a hand like a prim old lady for Qingcao to sit. "Hurry and sit down. It won’t be good if other tribe members come by and see you."
Qingcao gave her a confused look, then reached back and slapped her own plump butt. "What’s not good about it? Everyone’s got one."
Then, looking incredibly smug, she started wiggling and slapping it, filling the air with a constant POK! POK! sound. Wu Yue felt this was no longer a place for a pure, innocent young female like herself.
She decisively stood up to leave, but the very next second, a series of OINK OINK OINKs from nearby made the hair on her body stand on end.
She was all too familiar with that sound. Her neck was so stiff it was as if she had cervical spondylosis; she could almost hear it creaking, KRAK KRAK KRAK.
Qingcao, who had just been slapping her own butt, now stared at the taro patch in terror. The hand that had been smacking her rear now rose to slap her own face.
The pain snapped her to her senses. With a yelp, she hid behind Wu Yue. "What do we do, Yue? There are really wild boars! Those are wild boars!"
Watching the family of wild boars happily munching away in the taro patch not far off, Wu Yue silently nodded. "Of course I know they’re wild boars."
Even though she wasn’t the original owner of this body, she wasn’t so clueless as to mistake a wild boar for a bison.
Then, with a helpless expression, she turned to the cowering Qingcao behind her. "Qingcao... can you suck in your chest and stomach a bit? You’re pushing me forward."
Qingcao heard this and looked back. Sure enough, the two of them had moved from the edge of the pool to the middle.
She immediately gave an awkward, sheepish laugh.
