Chapter 234: Same Purpose, Different Results

’Don’t tell me your female is into my type?’

At this thought, the Black Wolf Witch suddenly clutched the Beast Skin on his chest, his gaze toward Wu Yue turning defensive.

Wu Yue: "..."

’I don’t know what you two just exchanged with that look, but it doesn’t stop me from guessing what kind of inappropriate thoughts you’re having from that ridiculous pose of yours.’

’How desperate would I have to be? To ignore all these strong, young Beastmen around and go for a washed-up old thing like you.’

"I’m afraid you have some kind of misunderstanding about yourself."

She thought it, and then said it quite frankly.

The Black Wolf Witch’s lips twitched in embarrassment. He pretended to be calm as he lowered the paw that was clutching the Beast Skin on his chest. "I was just suddenly a little cold."

Wu Yue: "Heh..."

Clearing his throat solemnly, the Black Wolf Witch tried to salvage his dignity. "Actually, I know that a method for treating such a serious wound must be very precious and can’t just be taught to other tribes.

So... hehe... about that..."

He rubbed his hands together and whispered, "In the future, if our Black Wolf Tribe members get injured and their wounds start to fester, can we send them to the Snow Tiger Tribe for you to treat?"

Wu Yue was stunned. She hadn’t expected the problem to be solved so easily.

In high spirits, she broke into a smile. A huge grin spread across her fair face, which was a stark contrast to the other females’ tanned skin. "Of course. The Snow Tiger Tribe and the Black Wolf Tribe are friendly. We should help each other in times of hardship. This is something our witch repeatedly reminded me of before I left.

As long as our two tribes remain on friendly terms, this promise of mine will stand."

The Black Wolf Witch’s gaze deepened, and a new seriousness entered his expression as he looked at Wu Yue. ’This female is different from what I imagined.’

Of the two tribes that came for the same purpose, one left in a huff, while the other departed in satisfaction after reaching a friendly agreement.

Once the Black Wolf Witch had gone, Wu Yue finally turned to Yuan Lang behind her and raised a delicate eyebrow. "And here I thought that would be a problem, but it was solved just like that."

Yuan Lang chuckled. "Yue is amazing."

Wu Yue laughed, her eyes curving into crescents.

Her joyful laughter echoed across the clearing, but not far away, the eyes of a female hiding behind a tree were filled with fury.

’Damn that Beastman! How dare he treat me like that today! I’ll make him pay!’

The evening breeze swept through the forest, weaving cheerfully through the Black Wolf Tribe.

Only a few stars patrolled the pitch-black sky; the moon had taken the opportunity to hide behind the clouds for a nap.

A tall figure moved silently among the grass huts of the Black Wolf Tribe. He slipped past patrolling Beastman Warriors several times, yet not one of them noticed him.

After crossing more than half of the Black Wolf Tribe, the shadowy figure finally stopped before a grass hut. He unwrapped a package he had been carrying, tossed something inside, then gave a cold sneer and departed.

In the middle of the night, the entire Black Wolf Tribe was jolted awake by a female’s piercing scream.

Beastmen lit bonfires in the clearings before their huts, and tribe members kept emerging to ask what had happened.

The clamor and the female’s cries continued for a long time before finally ceasing. But the exhausted Wu Yue didn’t so much as twitch an eyelid, sleeping straight through until the next morning.

Only while washing up did she learn from the other Beastmen that the female from the Lion Tribe had apparently been stung by Stinging Tail Bees, and by the sounds of it, it was serious.
