Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 944 - 943: Out

Chapter 944 - 943: Out

Seeing that Xu Ke wasn’t someone he could bully as he pleased, the tattooed man was frustrated, but Brother Xiong was still watching. He might provoke Xu Ke, but he couldn’t go too far, otherwise he’d be disrespecting Brother Xiong. Disrespecting a newcomer isn’t the same as disrespecting Brother Xiong; the latter could bring him life-threatening danger. Even outlaws cherish their lives.

"Alright, you’ve got guts." The tattooed man pointed at Xu Ke’s nose and said.

"Thanks for the compliment. Actually, I could be even more daring." Xu Ke looked at the tattooed man, whose anger was visibly rising, and spoke.

Realizing that further provocation would bring nothing but trouble, the tattooed man decided not to embarrass himself and turned to leave. However, as he walked away, he glanced at Tangtang, who was hiding in Xu Ke’s embrace, with a somewhat unclear expression. Although it wasn’t clear what he was thinking when looking at Tangtang, it was certain that his gaze wasn’t kind.

Guoguo secretly opened her eyes and stared at the tattooed man. For a moment, she felt her blood run cold. When a hand was placed on hers, only then did she feel like she was back from Hell to the human world, and the frozen blood in her veins began to flow again.

"It’s okay, I’ll protect you both. Today’s ordeal was just bad luck for you two." Xu Ke spoke, patting their hands.

"It’s actually unrelated to you. This is just our fate as sisters. Even if we hadn’t met you today, we might have faced such things. We’re lucky that our first time out to meet clients, we encountered someone like you. Meeting you is a fortune we wouldn’t dare to hope for." Guoguo said, looking at Xu Ke’s face with a small smile, reminiscent of a lilac flower soaked by rain, with many petals falling onto muddy ground, evoking a sense of fragile beauty.

Looking at the increasingly chaotic scene around them, Xu Ke took their hands, sent a quick message to the club’s manager, and led the sisters out of the booth.

The moment the booth door closed, everyone’s actions inside unconsciously stopped. "They’re gone," said a man with piercings.

"He even took those two girls. Couldn’t tell he’s someone who would pity them," said the tattooed man sarcastically and coolly.

"Probably hasn’t seen such situations before, so he felt uneasy. Once he gets used to it, he won’t act like that anymore," chuckled the club’s manager.

"Let’s continue, we shouldn’t let this ruin our mood," said the club’s manager, inviting everyone to continue with a smile.

The tense atmosphere in the booth gradually warmed up again, as if nothing had happened, with everyone focusing on their own business.

Meanwhile, Xu Ke not only took the sisters out of the booth but straight out of the club.

Perhaps because the club positioned them as schoolgirls, they were wearing JK uniforms, which looked casual and unlike other girls who wore either backless or short outfits that barely covered anything, making them appear just fine out on the street. Their twin appearances combined with Xu Ke’s attractiveness drew quite a few curious glances as they walked together.

Walking down the street, hearing the surrounding vendors’ cries, Tangtang and Guoguo finally realized they had left the club and arrived on the street.

"We just walked out like that," Guoguo said, somewhat bewildered.

"Seems like it," Tangtang replied, looking at a food stall selling grilled cold noodles not far away.

Since they looked identical, dressed the same, and even spoke the same, their back-and-forth dialogue seemed like a funny self-questioning moment.

"You’re actually out now. Feeling happy?" Xu Ke asked them.

"Happy, but maybe it’s not right. We walked out without the boss’s permission, isn’t this considered skipping work?" Guoguo asked uncertainly.

"Remove the ’considered’ part, it’s definitely skipping work," Tangtang replied earnestly, looking at her sister.

"What should we do? We broke the rules. We’ll get punished when we go back, won’t we?" Despite her persistence, Guoguo’s expression was worse than crying.

Xu Ke had never noticed the two sisters had a comedic potential, looking like a cross-talk duo, one straight man and one comic. But seeing them scaring themselves, he decided against further teasing.

"Alright, don’t worry. I told your boss about this before taking you out. Knowing this, you won’t be considered absent." Xu Ke reassured them.

Upon hearing this good news, the sisters sniffed, holding back the tears about to fall.

"Really?" Tangtang asked foolishly.

"What good would lying about this do me? It’s true," Xu Ke answered.

"Oh." Tangtang nodded, wearing a naive yet sweet smile.

"Why did we come out then?" Guoguo asked, tilting her head, looking like a cuddly brown bear.

"To stroll around, hit the streets, visit the night market—any option is better than staying in that booth, right?" said Xu Ke.

The sisters silently nodded, scuffing the pavement with their toes. Indeed, anywhere was better than returning to that booth—a hundred or even ten thousand times better. But thinking about their narrow escape today and the uncertainty of future encounters, they couldn’t bring themselves to feel joyful.

With their heads lowered, Xu Ke couldn’t see their expressions, only their shoes scuffing the pavement. Checking his phone, realizing it was late, Xu Ke had a sudden insight. He thought they might not want to wander outside, despite being two, they were still girls and might be uneasy about hanging around with someone they’d only met once. Perhaps they wanted to go home.

Having figured it out, Xu Ke sympathetically offered, "If you want to go home, I won’t stop you. Whether you want to go back yourselves or have me take you home, it’s your choice. I don’t mind, and no need to worry about your boss."
