Supreme Heir Son-in-law

Chapter 937 - 936: Backup Has Arrived

Chapter 937 - 936: Backup Has Arrived

"Actually, this matter originally had nothing to do with you two, so why are you interfering in someone else’s affairs unnecessarily? If you’re going to interfere, at least understand the ins and outs of the situation," Xu Ke raised his eyebrows and said.

"You need reason to do things properly: only when you stand on the side of reason can you stand tall, right? But reason isn’t on your side, so I really don’t understand, what are you trying to do? Are you trying to attract attention? Or are you flaunting your ignorance?"

He Qing wasn’t holding back, and Xu Ke wasn’t much different. When have these two stars ever endured such grievances?

He Qing, after all, is a lady of the He Family. They can console themselves by thinking that it’s because of the other party’s family background.

But Xu Ke didn’t show them any courtesy either, which harmed their dignity and touched a sensitive nerve.

Who is He Qing? Who is Xu Ke? And who are they? How dare Xu Ke speak to them like that?

The girls could still hold their temper a little, but the boys couldn’t tolerate it at all. In a public setting, a respectable rich kid like him got smacked down by a lobby manager; if this spreads, where would his dignity go? How could he continue to stay in Ning City?

"You’re just a mere lobby manager. What gives you the right to talk to me like this? What makes you think you can speak to me this way? Who are you? Who am I? Don’t think just because you’re in this room with us that it makes you our equal. If you apologize to me on your knees now, I might let it slide. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude."

The boy, provoked by Xu Ke, completely lost his head, only thinking of restoring his own dignity, completely ignoring why the other person could appear at such an event.

He urgently needed to crush someone, ruthlessly stepping on them to highlight his own face and divert the attention directed at him.

Xu Ke was He Qing’s guest, and by embarrassing Xu Ke in such a public place, he was openly disrespecting her. Hearing his words, He Qing’s expression turned as cold as the deep winter frost, chilling to the bone.

"What is his status? He is my benefactor, a guest I invited, a distinguished guest at the He Family. Is such a status not valuable enough? Want to be his equal? Are you even qualified?"

He Qing fired back fully, returning the comments straight away.

Listening to He Qing’s words and then looking at the gathering crowd, the boy felt as if the eyes on him made him uncomfortable, almost as if he was naked in the street, which made his face twitch.

"Miss He, it’s true that the He Family is the wealthiest in Ning City, but our Lin Family isn’t just anybody. Isn’t what you’re saying a bit too much?"

"Too much? In what way? I think I made quite reasonable points. You think the Lin Family is quite something, but in my eyes, the Lin Family is nothing—meaning you’re nothing in my eyes either." He Qing didn’t bother to look at his ugly expression, just opened her mouth and stripped away his dignity, tossing it to the ground and stomping it a few times.

"He Qing, your words are a bit too much. Everyone here has a reputation in the business world; we might meet each other frequently, and there might even be cooperation. Are you saying this over a lobby manager? What kind of spell has he cast on you?"

The boy couldn’t even bring himself to call her Miss He; he plainly spoke her name.

"I said he’s my lifesaver. If you still want to attend our He Family’s banquet, you’d better adjust your attitude. Today’s my birthday party, and whoever gives me trouble, I’ll return it right back." He Qing straightened her gaze and said.

"You all stop arguing; it’s my fault. If I hadn’t stepped in, none of this would have happened today. I apologize; please don’t argue because of me. This makes me feel very distressed."

Seeing the tension growing between the boy and He Qing, and the situation spiraling out of control, the girl’s lowered eyes flashed with hidden light.

Her words shifted everyone’s focus to her. She stood there tearful, with a worried and regretful expression, coupled with her looks, exuded an air of innocence and purity, making people want to hug her tightly and wipe away her tears.

"Don’t give me this act. Are we arguing over you? Who do you think you are? Aren’t you overestimating yourself?"

He Qing’s sarcastic tone made the girl’s face flush with alternating colors of red and white.

"But you did remind me, the incident today indeed started because of you. If you weren’t here meddling without reason, this wouldn’t have happened." He Qing sneered coldly and said.

"You cause trouble at my birthday party. Miss, what are your intentions? Have I offended you, or has my family offended you?"

Faced with He Qing’s questioning, the girl seemed at a loss.

Many people in the crowd looked slightly disapproving of He Qing’s aggressive stance, some with expressions suggesting they wanted to say something but didn’t dare to speak out.

"What’s going on? What happened?"

He Chen had just come back from the bathroom, only to see a majority of the guests crowded in the corner, blocking an otherwise unnoticed spot completely.

With his sister He Qing nowhere in sight, He Chen frowned, pushed through the crowd to the center, and immediately spotted his sister He Qing among the four people in the center, then nervously asked what had happened.

Seeing her brother arrive, He Qing’s face showed a grievance as fast as a changing face, astonishing those around her, while the girl across from her had eyes filled with an indecipherable light.

Seeing that his sister seemed wronged, He Chen’s face became grave, decisively shifting his gaze to the boy and the girl, eyes filled with anger.

"What happened? Who bullied you? Tell your brother, and I’ll make it right for you." He Chen comforted, holding He Qing in his arms.

"Brother, they took advantage of your absence to bully me here, pointing fingers at me and disrespecting my guest, trying to teach me how to behave." He Qing clutched He Chen’s arm, complaining.

Seeing He Chen’s face showing anger, the girl quickly took a step forward and began to explain: "It’s not like that, this is all a misunderstanding. We were trying to explain the misunderstanding; we never meant to bully you. After all, this is the He Family’s banquet. As guests of the He Family, how could we do such a thing?"

"You know it’s our family’s banquet? I thought you didn’t. Since you know it’s our family’s banquet, why are you causing trouble here?" He Qing lifted her head from He Chen’s embrace, looking at the girl with an unfriendly expression.
