Chapter 481: Second Layer of the Tower!
Chapter 481: Second Layer of the Tower!
Seeing the greatsword slashing toward him, Long Chen didn’t dodge. Instead, he reached out and caught the blade firmly in his bare hand.
The Divine Blade Sect disciple was stunned, his eyes widening in disbelief.
Since when did my attacks become so weak? Can someone just block them with their bare hands now?
Before the disciple could react, Long Chen applied force and twisted!
SNAP!
The sound of breaking metal echoed. Long Chen grabbed the broken half of the blade and plunged it into the Divine Blade Sect disciple’s head!
SHLK!
The sharp blade pierced straight through his skull, splattering blood everywhere.
The Divine Blade Sect disciple let out a pained moan, his eyes bulging like copper bells before he collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Witnessing such a gruesome scene, the others were stupefied. A chill ran from the soles of their feet to their hearts, and they trembled uncontrollably.
Flee!
Upon witnessing Long Chen’s formidable strength, they lost all will to fight. Only a single thought remained in their minds: flee! To them, Long Chen was a demon from the depths of Hell, relentlessly reaping their lives. They knew that if this continued, death was the only path awaiting them. So, they all scrambled for the passageway, desperate to enter the Second Layer.
But how could Long Chen possibly give them that chance?
"Thinking of escaping?"
"It’s too late!"
With a low shout, Long Chen summoned the Blackwind Sword and swung it forward. Instantly, a powerful wave of Sword Qi erupted from the blade.
As the fleeing disciples sensed the potent Sword Qi surging toward them from behind, their eyelids twitched violently. They were filled with immense regret. If they had known Long Chen had become so terrifying, they would never have provoked him.
Alas, it was too late for regret. The only thing awaiting them was death.
Before they could even react, the powerful Sword Qi severed their bodies.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Following a series of muffled explosions, the entire group was reduced to a mist of blood. In less than a minute, the disciples from the Four Great Sects—Xuanyue Valley, Divine Blade Sect, Heavenly Water Sect, and Feiyu City—who had been so belligerent just moments before, had all been sent to Hell by Long Chen.
「Meanwhile.」
The faces of the elders from Xuanyue Valley, the Divine Blade Sect, the Heavenly Water Sect, and Feiyu City contorted with rage as they watched the life lamps of their disciples extinguish. But mixed with their fury was a hint of astonishment.
What had happened? How could disciples from all Four Great Sects have died at the same time? If it wasn’t a crisis within the tower, then it had to be murder.
With all their disciples dead, the Four Great Sects were now completely out of the running in the Domain Alliance Competition. Any hope of achieving a good rank was now just a pipe dream.
An elder from the Divine Blade Sect frowned deeply. "Regardless, I will get to the bottom of this. I will not let our disciples die without knowing why."
"That’s right! We must investigate this matter thoroughly!" an elder from the Heavenly Water Sect declared in a grave voice.
The elders from Xuanyue Valley and Feiyu City nodded in agreement. They had to get to the bottom of this; they couldn’t just suffer this loss in silence. If their disciples had truly met with a disaster, there was nothing to be said. But if they were ambushed, they had to see it through to the end!
Of course, that was assuming their opponent wasn’t some formidable power. Otherwise, even if they were attacked, they would be powerless and wouldn’t dare to retaliate. If they angered the other party, it wouldn’t just be these few disciples who died; their entire sect could be implicated. If that happened, the losses would far outweigh the gains. For now, all they could do was wait and see.
「Back inside the tower.」
Lei Shishi, Long Xin, and the others weren’t surprised to see Long Chen dispose of the group so effortlessly. If anything, letting them die so quickly was letting them off too easily.
But for Long Chen, this was just the beginning.
"Let’s go," Long Chen said mildly, turning to Long Xin and the others.
They all nodded in unison and headed toward the spatial passageway.
When they arrived on the Second Layer of the tower, a vast desert stretched out before them.
"This place..." Upon seeing the scene, Lei Shishi’s fine brows furrowed slightly. "It’s strange. We need to be careful."
Long Xin, Chu Lingjun, and Tang Le also scanned their surroundings vigilantly.
The group proceeded cautiously. After walking for some time, everything remained eerily calm; nothing happened. There was no one else in sight, either. They couldn’t see any of the people who had entered before them, which Long Chen found very strange. The scene was too bizarre, but Long Chen couldn’t quite put his finger on why. The only thing they could do now was to remain on high alert and watch for any sudden danger.
As they continued forward, the thick scent of blood gradually assailed their nostrils.
Long Chen frowned, warning the others in a low voice, "Be careful!"
"Mm," Long Xin and the others replied with a nod.
Soon, they came upon several corpses lying on the ground, which was stained with fresh blood. The bodies were mangled in various ways, but they had one thing in common: they were all covered in sand. Long Chen noticed that these were disciples from the weaker factions that had entered later.
Looking at the corpses, Long Xin asked curiously, "Strange. They have so many wounds, but none of them look like they were caused by weapons. How did they die?"
The others had noticed this as well.
After a moment of observation, Long Chen spoke. "Besides the cuts, there are also bite marks. There might be some kind of vicious beast nearby."
Lei Shishi nodded in agreement. "That’s certainly possible."
Just then, a ferocious wind began to howl. Powerful gusts slammed into them. In response, they immediately channeled their Battle qi to form a Defensive Barrier, shielding themselves from the powerful gales.
"A sandstorm!" Tang Le exclaimed, his expression turning grave as he looked ahead.
Within the fierce gale, sand swirled everywhere, obscuring the sky. The entire area grew dim, as if the apocalypse had arrived—a truly terrifying sight.
