Chapter 467: Reunion!

Chapter 467: Reunion!

"Understood!" Shadow Soul quickly nodded in acknowledgment.

"If there’s any situation, remember to notify me immediately." After the man finished speaking, his projection slowly faded away.

Shadow Soul bowed his head, clasping his hands respectfully as the projection vanished. As the man disappeared, the terrifying pressure that had filled the area instantly dissipated. The surrounding space and temperature returned to normal, as if nothing had ever happened.

Shadow Soul’s eyes narrowed slightly, a chill flashing in their depths. He murmured, "Kid, you’d better be prepared. In the upcoming Domain Alliance competition, I’ll personally give you a push."

Meanwhile, Long Chen and the others had followed Lei Yujing to a pavilion arranged by the Domain Alliance for the Jinglei Sect.

"The Sect Leader and the Great Elder are also here," Lei Yujing said to them. "They arrived long before us."

Upon hearing this, Long Chen just nodded slightly without saying anything. He was, however, quite curious. How powerful is the Jinglei Sect’s leader? What realm has he reached?

After all, the Sect Leader he had never met had been in secluded cultivation ever since Long Chen joined the sect. Even after the man emerged, Long Chen still hadn’t had the chance to meet him. Now, he finally had the opportunity to see this elusive Sect Leader.

Before they entered the pavilion, Lei Yujing specifically reminded Long Chen, "You’d better be prepared before you go in."

"Prepared for what?" Long Chen asked, looking at her with a bewildered expression.

Lei Yujing smiled faintly. "You’ll know once you go inside."

"Alright then." Long Chen nodded, asking no further questions. Still, he was intrigued by her cryptic warning. What could possibly be inside? He dismissed the thought and followed Lei Yujing into the pavilion.

Upon entering the main hall, Lei Yujing led the way. Four figures were present: the Jinglei Sect’s Leader, Lei Zhen; the Great Elder, Lei Man; the young master, Lei Shishi; and the fourth person was none other than Chu Lingjun!

As soon as they entered, Lei Yujing bowed slightly to Lei Zhen. "Sect Leader, we have arrived."

Long Chen was momentarily stunned, but he quickly recovered as a smile spread across his face. He never expected to find Chu Lingjun, the very person he had been desperately searching for, right here. Only then did he understand Lei Yujing’s earlier warning—this was what she meant.

Chu Lingjun was also stunned. A smile then blossomed on her usually cold, beautiful face. A mist seemed to rise in her beautiful eyes as tears welled up, though she fought to hold them back. This was because she had spotted Long Xin in the room as well. She knew perfectly well how deep Long Xin’s feelings for Long Chen ran. She had been the one to stop Long Xin from searching for him, and yet now, she herself had developed feelings for the man. For a moment, she didn’t know how to face these emotions, nor how to face Long Xin.

Long Chen, however, wasn’t thinking about such complexities. He instinctively walked toward Chu Lingjun, his arms outstretched for an embrace.

Chu Lingjun deftly evaded his embrace, taking his hands in hers instead. A bright smile lit up her face as she said, "It’s so good to see you’re alright. I was afraid something had happened to you."

Seeing her action, Long Chen instantly understood her predicament and reluctantly withdrew his hands.

He smiled. "Seeing you’re safe has put my mind at ease, too."

Though their interaction seemed normal on the surface, the perceptive Long Xin immediately noticed the undercurrent between them. Her face paled slightly, and her heart felt as if it had been viciously stabbed, the pain unbearable. Yet, despite the agony, she could only force herself to endure it and not let her feelings show.

For a moment, the atmosphere grew awkward.

Witnessing this, Tang Le felt his skin crawl; this tension was more terrifying than the Purgatory Field itself. Fearing the situation would sour, he quickly jumped in to smooth things over. "Sister Chu, it’s great to see you! How have you been lately?"

"Fine," Chu Lingjun responded coolly. "I didn’t expect you and Long Xin to come to the God-Devil Domain as well."

Tang Le smiled. "Speaking of which, why are you here? Don’t tell me you’re also representing the sect in the Domain Alliance competition?"

Chu Lingjun glanced at Lei Man beside her and replied lightly, "You’ll have to ask the Great Elder about that."

"So you knew all along but refused to tell me," she said, her gaze shifting to Lei Man.

The Great Elder gave a helpless smile. "It was a measure of desperation. If not for this, how could we have convinced you to represent the sect in the Domain Alliance competition?"

Lei Yujing quickly chimed in, "That’s right! We did hide this from you, but as the Great Elder said, we were desperate. We didn’t lie, though. We promised we’d find her whereabouts for you; it was just a matter of when. It’s not too late for you to meet now, right?"

At these words, Long Chen and Chu Lingjun exchanged a look. Neither of them had expected that they had been so thoroughly strung along by these old foxes.

"Excellent! Excellent!" Lei Zhen said, nodding in satisfaction as he sized up Long Chen. His eyes filled with admiration. "I’ve long heard from Shishi about your exceptional talent on the Martial Path. Seeing you today, you truly have a remarkable presence. No wonder Shishi praises you so often."

"Father! Don’t talk nonsense, I..." Lei Shishi protested, a blush creeping onto her face. She couldn’t help but steal a glance at Long Chen to gauge his reaction.

To her disappointment, Long Chen’s expression remained unchanged, which made her feel a little let down. You snake! You peeped at me in the Thunder Pool, but now you’re pretending to be so prim and proper? Getting entangled with so many women... you’re an utter scumbag!

Seeing his daughter’s reaction, Lei Zhen couldn’t help but roar with laughter. He stroked his beard and continued, addressing Long Chen, "In all these years, I’ve never seen anyone earn such high praise from Shishi. You, young man, are the first."

Long Chen merely offered a faint smile and said nothing.

When neither Long Chen nor Chu Lingjun responded, the smile on Lei Zhen’s face began to stiffen. He was the Sect Leader of the Jinglei Sect, after all. He had already deigned to speak to mere disciples, yet he was met with silence.

Lei Yujing sensed the shift and glanced worriedly at Lei Man, whose brow was now furrowed in concern. He feared that Long Chen and Chu Lingjun, in their anger, might refuse to participate in the Domain Alliance competition.

Lei Zhen shared the same worry. He knew their methods had been deceitful in luring Long Chen and Long Xin here.

His voice turned grave. "Long Chen, you must understand how crucial this Domain Alliance competition is for the Jinglei Sect. I won’t force you to achieve some outstanding rank; I only ask that you do your best. If you can secure a good result and help our Jinglei Sect reclaim its status as a First-class Force, I will reward you generously."

Lei Yujing quickly added, "Long Chen, we didn’t want to deceive you. We only resorted to this underhanded tactic because you were unwilling to participate. Our sect’s future is at stake. We hope you can lend us your strength."

After hearing them out, Long Chen didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he turned to look at Chu Lingjun.

Chu Lingjun said simply, "I’ll follow your lead."

At her words, the eyes of Lei Zhen and the others snapped to Long Chen. A palpable tension filled the air as they waited, anxious to see what he would decide.
