Chapter 412: Something to Say!
Chapter 412: Something to Say!
With a dark expression, Han Zongwei said, "How insolent!"
The members of both the Baiyue Sect and the Medicine Pavilion were furious. The Dragon Gate, however, was just as fearless. The atmosphere instantly froze.
Just then, a cold voice broke the tense silence. "This is the Grand Assembly. What is the meaning of all this commotion? Have you no decorum?"
Upon hearing Lei Yujing’s words, the crowd immediately fell silent, not daring to utter another word. A deathly hush descended upon the scene.
Lei Yujing paused for a moment before she slowly began, "In the coming month, we will arrange a competition within the Sect."
"At that time, all disciples can participate."
"The top three will secure the final three spots to participate in the Domain Alliance Tournament!"
Hearing this, the expressions of the Jinglei Sect disciples changed slightly. Their gazes grew deep and sharp.
They all resolved themselves to this new reality. They would work hard to improve during this month, prepare for the upcoming assessment, and aim to secure one of the top three positions. By doing so, they would have the chance to represent the Jinglei Sect in the Domain Alliance. An opportunity like this was too rare to miss. They all wanted to seize it!
"Alright, the announcement has been made," Lei Yujing said coolly. "You may all disperse. I hope you can all achieve a breakthrough within these three months."
After she spoke, everyone gradually began to leave.
Just as Long Chen was about to depart, several figures moved to block his path.
"Pavilion Master, that’s Long Chen!" Zheng Kai pointed.
At his words, Wang Pingchuan locked his gaze onto Long Chen, his eyes filled with an intense chill. Standing beside him were not only members of the Medicine Pavilion but also Han Zongwei, Liang Tianhao, and their followers. All of them stared at Long Chen with intense disapproval.
"So, you’re Long Chen. I’ve heard your name many times these past few days," Wang Pingchuan sneered, his smile not reaching his eyes. "Now I finally see you in person. You look every bit as arrogant as they say you are."
Liang Tianhao scoffed, "A beast in fine clothes."
At this, the members of the Medicine Pavilion and the Baiyue Sect couldn’t contain themselves and burst out laughing.
"Shut your mouths!" Fury flashed across Long Xin’s pretty face. She stepped forward and threw a punch at Liang Tianhao.
Seeing Long Xin dare to make a move, Han Zongwei instantly appeared in front of Liang Tianhao and threw a punch of his own.
BANG!
A muffled sound rang out as a ripple of energy erupted from the impact. Just as Long Xin was about to be overwhelmed, a powerful force suddenly surged into her body.
Han Zongwei let out a sharp cry. Like a kite with a broken string, he was sent flying backward, landing miserably on the ground in agony.
Struggling against the excruciating pain, Han Zongwei shouted hoarsely at Liang Tianhao, "Senior Brother Liang! You must avenge me! I’ll make that bastard suffer even more!"
Long Xin was taken aback. She knew she couldn’t have defeated Han Zongwei so easily on her own and immediately turned to look. She saw Long Chen looking at her with a faint smile.
As expected. It was all thanks to Long Chen’s help.
"You bastard!" Liang Tianhao roared. "You’re courting death!"
Seeing Han Zongwei’s pathetic state, Liang Tianhao’s brows knitted together. How dare they attack someone right in front of me! I will make Long Chen pay for this!
Just as he was about to move against Long Chen, Lei Yujing suddenly appeared nearby.
Wang Pingchuan’s sharp eyes immediately spotted her. He coughed twice and called out to her, "Third Elder!"
Realizing Lei Yujing was present, the other disciples also turned and greeted her respectfully. Seeing this, the furious Liang Tianhao could only swallow his anger. When he turned to face Lei Yujing, he had to force a smile.
Lei Yujing glanced at them and asked coolly, "What are you doing crowded around here?"
"It’s nothing," Wang Pingchuan said, shaking his head. "We were just chatting."
"Chatting?" Long Xin scoffed. "Who wants to chat with you? You surrounded us to cause trouble, didn’t you? Now that the Third Elder is here, you’re all acting so meek and mild. It’s a disgusting sight."
"You..." Liang Tianhao and his group glared at Long Xin.
Lei Yujing’s gaze fell on Liang Tianhao. "What’s going on here?" she asked calmly.
"A misunderstanding! It’s all a big misunderstanding!" Liang Tianhao chuckled awkwardly. "We just saw our junior brothers and came over to say hello."
Wang Pingchuan quickly chimed in, "That’s right! I heard that Junior Brother Long Chen is also skilled at refining Elixir Pills, so I came over to exchange some pointers. I didn’t expect to upset our junior sister so much."
"If there’s nothing else, go and cultivate. The upcoming competition will determine who is qualified to represent the Sect at the Domain Alliance Tournament," Lei Yujing said impassively. "Those who want to go should work hard. Don’t let trivial matters distract you from what’s important."
How could she not know they were spouting nonsense? However, she couldn’t be bothered to expose their lies.
"Yes! The Third Elder is right!" Wang Pingchuan and Liang Tianhao nodded repeatedly. "We’ll go cultivate right away!"
As they turned to leave, their dark gazes landed on Long Chen once more.
Wang Pingchuan said gravely, "I’ve heard you established the Dragon Gate. I’m very curious to see how long you can last." He added, "Don’t worry. As your senior brothers, we will certainly take good care of you!"
"Then I’ll have to thank you for your concern, Senior Brothers," Long Chen replied with a faint smile. "As for how long our Dragon Gate will last, you really shouldn’t worry yourselves. You should be more concerned with stepping up your game. Our Dragon Gate is rising fast, and we just might leave you in the dust. Who knows, perhaps the Medicine Pavilion and the Baiyue Sect will be disbanded."
Wang Pingchuan’s and Liang Tianhao’s eyes went cold. Their smiles were like hidden daggers.
"We’ll see about that."
With that, they turned and left.
A cold smirk played on Long Chen’s lips.
"Long Chen, you’ve stirred up quite a bit of trouble in the Sect these past few days," Lei Yujing said, looking at him.
Long Chen smiled lightly. "It’s been alright."
"You are very talented," Lei Yujing cautioned, "but you must still be careful."
Long Chen nodded. "I understand."
"Do you have a moment?" Lei Yujing asked.
Long Chen’s curiosity was piqued. "Third Elder, is there something you need?"
"Come with me," she said. "There’s something I want to talk to you about."
