Chapter 399 Targeted!

Chapter 399 Targeted!

"Tang Le, you don’t have to be so anxious about this," Long Xin said with a laugh. "Once you lose some weight, with your looks and strength, I’m sure you’ll find a junior sister here in the Jinglei Sect who likes you."

Tang Le replied, "Actually, I don’t think I need to lose any weight. I believe my looks alone are enough to attract plenty of beautiful female disciples."

Hearing this, Long Chen and Long Xin couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

"What are you two laughing at?" Tang Le asked, looking utterly perplexed.

"Tang Le, it seems you have quite a lot of confidence in yourself," Long Xin said, giving him a thumbs-up. "Since you’ve put it that way, I have no suggestions to offer. I wish you success!"

"Thank you," Tang Le replied, nodding with satisfaction and confidence.

Seeing this, Long Chen simply shook his head and smiled.

Afterward, the three of them left the living quarters and began strolling through the Jinglei Sect.

"I heard there’s a market up ahead where you can buy anything," Tang Le explained. "It mainly caters to the needs of our Jinglei Sect disciples for various resources, so we don’t have to leave the sect. To put it simply, it’s a lot like the one we had at the Martial Ancestor."

Long Chen nodded in understanding. "Well, since we’ve already come this far, let’s go check it out."

The trio soon arrived at the market.

The marketplace teemed with people and was incredibly lively. After all, this was the largest trading center in the entire Jinglei Sect. Whether one was looking for Cultivation Resources or daily necessities, this place had it all. Every shop was surrounded by a crowd of customers.

"Wow, this place is really bustling!" Long Xin exclaimed at the sight.

Tang Le nodded. "It certainly is. Pretty much everyone in the Sect with free time comes here to wander around and relax. No other place is as lively as this."

"Furthermore, the people who run these shops are all senior disciples of our Jinglei Sect," he continued. "Most of them are disciples who have cultivated within the Sect for many years but whose strength hasn’t progressed much. Still, they’ve made contributions to the Sect in the past. Out of compassion, the Sect allows them to set up shop here to ensure they can maintain a basic livelihood."

Long Chen smiled. "Tang Le, it’s only been a few days. I’m surprised you’ve already learned so much about the Sect."

"Of course," Tang Le said, nodding proudly. "Back at the Martial Ancestor, I was a walking encyclopedia; there was nothing I didn’t know. Now that I’m in a new place, I naturally have to figure out the lay of the land. I refuse to be silently taken advantage of."

"Come on! Let’s look around and see what treasures we can find." Seeing such a lively market, Long Xin was overjoyed. She immediately grabbed Long Chen’s arm and pulled him forward.

Although the market was bustling, Long Chen felt that something was off about the atmosphere, noticing the vendors were all giving them strange looks. Tang Le’s expression also grew stern. "Something’s not right with the people here."

"Don’t worry," Long Chen said calmly. "Let’s just wait and see. I’m curious to see what kind of tricks they plan on pulling."

"Alright, no problem," Tang Le replied, a cold smile touching his lips. "I’m also curious to see what they’re up to."

Long Xin stopped at a shop and picked up a hairpin from the counter. She adored it at first glance. Turning around, she held it out for Long Chen. "Brother, isn’t this hairpin pretty?"

Long Chen glanced at it and nodded with a smile. "It is! I’ll buy it for you."

"Okay," Long Xin chirped, delighted as she nodded obediently.

Long Chen turned to the vendor. "Boss, how much for this hairpin?"

Hearing his voice, the man glanced at the three of them. "If I’m not mistaken, you’re new disciples, aren’t you?"

Long Chen nodded. "Yes, we are."

Upon confirming their status, the man’s voice turned cold. "If you’re new disciples, then get lost!"

Long Chen frowned. "Is there a problem?"

Just then, a commotion erupted from the adjacent shop, drawing everyone’s attention.

"ARGH!" A piercing scream cut through the air as a young man in black robes was sent flying backward like a kite with a severed string, crashing heavily to the ground. In a flash, a man with a goatee was standing over him, looming down as he barked, "Scram! You bastard, you dared to attack me just because I refused to sell you something? You’re asking to die! Try that again, and I promise you it won’t be as simple as a punch!"

Feeling the chilling aura radiating from the goateed man, the black-robed youth trembled. He knew he was no match for him and dared not retaliate, forcing himself to swallow his rage.

"See that?" the shop owner said, pointing at the scene with a smirk. "That’s your reason! Just this morning, we all received a notice. We are forbidden from selling anything to you new disciples! So, if you don’t want trouble, leave immediately! Otherwise, don’t blame me for kicking you out!"

Tang Le snorted coldly. "What nonsense is this? Forbidden from selling to new disciples? Who gave you such a despicable order to target us?"

The man shot Tang Le an indifferent glance. "Watch your tone, kid. Otherwise, the consequences will be severe."

With that, he turned back to Long Chen and snatched the hairpin from his hand. "Now, get lost!"

The man started to turn away, but in the next second, a sharp force struck him from behind.

BANG!

The man was thrown forward, smashing face-first into the hard wall. He gasped, his face contorted in pain. "Ouch, that hurts!"

Long Xin’s expression was icy. She was determined to make anyone who disrespected Long Chen pay.

"You bastard!" the man roared in fury, scrambling up from the ground. "How dare you sneak-attack me from behind?" He clenched his fist and swung wildly at Long Xin.

Seeing this, Long Chen stepped forward, shielding Long Xin behind him. Facing the man’s attack, he simply shot out a hand, catching the incoming fist. He exerted a sharp pressure.

CRACK!

The man’s wrist twisted at an unnatural angle.

"AHHH!"

Before his scream could fully escape, Long Chen casually flung him aside. The man was sent flying once more, crashing back to the ground.

Long Chen looked down on him and said coolly, "A bad attitude is one thing, but you dare to raise your hand?"

"Damn you!" the man yelled, enduring the excruciating pain. He frantically shouted to the crowd, "A new disciple is attacking people! Everyone, come help me!"

Instantly, a mob surged toward Long Chen, Long Xin, and Tang Le, their expressions fierce.
