Chapter 296:Chapter 296

Jiang Ruoxi woke up in pain. As she stared into the pitch-black surroundings, it took considerable effort for her to realize she was in a moving vehicle. But how did she end up here?

Xiao Feiyu also noticed that Jiang Ruoxi had awakened in the back seat and cursed under his breath. “You’d better keep quiet, don’t even think about any tricks, or it won’t be just a knockout next time,” he warned.

Jiang Ruoxi’s head was still foggy when she heard a man’s voice. She patted her forehead and shook her head, only then noticing that it was Xiao Feiyu who was driving.

“What have you done to me!” she exclaimed upon realizing her body felt weak and devoid of strength. Attempting to channel her energy, she discovered that her qi was sealed, rendering her unable to use her martial arts.

Xiao Feiyu noticed her futile movements and scoffed, “Don’t waste your energy. I can’t let you escape that easily; I won’t let my plans be ruined.”

A chill went through Jiang Ruoxi. She took a deep breath and assessed her surroundings. Xiao Feiyu appeared tense, as if he was dodging something.

Observing further, she realized they were on the highway, likely the same one she and Li Ziyu had intended to take back.

Was Xiao Feiyu’s frantic escape due to pursuers behind them? She glanced back and saw only identical Passats trailing them. “What are you doing? Where are you taking me?” she demanded.

“Keep quiet,” was all Xiao Feiyu replied, ignoring Jiang Ruoxi. His priority was to avoid being discovered by Su Lin, then to shake off the relentless pursuit. The more he forbade her from speaking, the more Jiang Ruoxi sensed something was amiss. Clearly, Xiao Feiyu was worried about those chasing him, likely the reinforcements she had instructed Li Ziyu to summon—Su Lin.

Her eyes gleamed with understanding of Xiao Feiyu’s motives. “You don’t want me to use my power so that Su Lin won’t discover us here, right?” she guessed.

Xiao Feiyu squinted, gripping the steering wheel tighter. But after a moment, he relaxed slightly and smirked, “You don’t need to guess. I won’t tell you the details. Just stay quiet, and I assure you, you won’t be harmed.”

However, it was only a temporary assurance. He knew what he needed to do. By capturing the heroine, he could survive in this world and not be trampled upon like an ant by others.

Jiang Ruoxi sneered, raising an eyebrow, “Seems like I guessed right, otherwise you wouldn’t be so nervous.”

Xiao Feiyu just clenched the steering wheel tighter, determined not to let his emotions get the better of him. Now, there was no turning back. Being caught by Su Lin meant certain death. He mustn’t act rashly.

“Ah, so I was right? I knew it; you’re just limited to these petty tricks,” Jiang Ruoxi taunted. “Must have used up all the powerful fighters from the Xiao family in that last highway encounter, now reduced to using mere illusions.”

Her disdain for Xiao Feiyu deepened as he resorted to such lowly tactics to kidnap her. He endured her words, refusing to let her affect his emotions.

“Why so silent?” she provoked, aiming to anger him and cause a slip-up. “But I guess that’s all you’re capable of. Compared to Su Lin, you really are inferior. Modu’s number one young master is just trash compared to the young masters from Di Du.”

“You’ll always be under Su Lin, never able to turn the tables. Incapable of anything, no wonder you’re now fleeing, without even a method to counter.”

Her mocking words turned into curses, each phrase venomously unpleasant. “Enough, shut up!” Xiao Feiyu finally exploded, shouting for silence.

The sudden burst of energy stunned Jiang Ruoxi, leaving her frozen in place. She stared blankly at Xiao Feiyu in the front seat, momentarily dumbfounded.

With all her strength sealed and no way to resist, the realization that Xiao Feiyu could kill her in a fit of rage struck her, filling her mind with a terrifying blankness. Afterwards, she dared not speak, sinking into silence…

“There, over there.” Su Lin smiled, sensing a surge of energy from ahead. It was most likely Xiao Feiyu. “Hold on, we’re going to speed up.”

He reassured Li Ziyu to relax as he floored the accelerator, speeding up. The Passats that had been blocking their way parted as they saw him accelerate, merely a disorganized crowd that Su Lin knew was far less capable than those who could fight.
