Chapter 1990 - 1991: Poor Xu Zhenzi! (Third Watch)

Chapter 1990 - 1991: Poor Xu Zhenzi! (Third Watch)

Xu Zhenzi moved with incredible speed, leaving those still ascending the stairs dumbfounded, feeling only a gust of wind as Xu Zhenzi passed them.

Immediately after, the Divine Son appeared, swiftly pursuing Xu Zhenzi.

Everyone watching was stunned once again.

Once outside the pavilion, Xu Zhenzi quickly shot out a rapid Spirit Stone and then swiftly set up a Formation to block the pursuing Divine Son.

At this moment, preserving the stone box in his hand was most important; even if it offended the Divine Son of the Heavenly Palace, it didn’t matter to Xu Zhenzi.

Sure enough, the Formation caused the Divine Son considerable trouble immediately.

It could only be broken with force.

But Xu Zhenzi repeatedly set up Formation after Formation, causing the Divine Son to lose track of him completely after forcefully breaking through several Formations. Xu Zhenzi had disappeared without a trace.

At this moment, Xu Zhenzi set up an Invisibility Formation, making it impossible for others to see his presence even when they were very close.

Having eluded the Divine Son, Xu Zhenzi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He had gone through so much trouble just for this item in front of him, and now he finally obtained the inheritance of the cave’s master. To say he wasn’t excited would be a lie.

"If I’m not mistaken, the inheritance inside must be a Formation," Xu Zhenzi placed the box before him, preparing to open it. The contents inside could grant the ability to not fear any mighty beings across the heavens.

Even his teacher did not possess such advanced Formation skills as the master of the cave.

Taking a deep breath, Xu Zhenzi calmed his emotions and eagerly opened the box.

In the split second when he saw the empty box with nothing inside, it was as if Xu Zhenzi was struck by lightning.

"How could this be? Where is the content?"

"It can’t be. The inheritance of the cave’s master should be here!"

Xu Zhenzi was bewildered—the Formation inheritance he had eagerly anticipated turned out to be nothing. How could he accept this?

"It must be inside this box. There must be a mechanism inside," Xu Zhenzi began to dismantle the box, believing that the inheritance inside could not have disappeared without reason.

Xu Zhenzi had no clue that the book of the Great Dao Formation could have been easily obtained by him, requiring only three kowtows. Yet, he overlooked it, dismissing the words with a smile, allowing Ye Qiu to take the Great Dao Formation book without his knowledge.

It was just bad luck for Xu Zhenzi—who could have thought a great power would pass their inheritance in such an unusual manner, by kowtowing?

If Xu Zhenzi knew, he would be heartbroken.

A moment later, the box was dismantled into pieces, revealing nothing but wooden blocks—no inheritance at all.

Clearly, the inheritance was not in the box, so where could it be?

Xu Zhenzi clearly remembered he and the Divine Son were the first to climb to the highest pavilion, so it couldn’t have been taken by someone else.

But it wasn’t there. Where was the inheritance?

The new Divine Son of the Heavenly Palace couldn’t have obtained the inheritance; he was always by the side. This was strange—could the inheritance be somewhere else?

Xu Zhenzi pondered, searching his memory for anything he might have overlooked. Soon, he recalled, on the first floor when entering the pavilion, there was that mysterious golden corpse with the inscription underneath.

"Could it be..."

He realized, the cave master’s inheritance must be on the first floor.

"I hope I’m not too late," Xu Zhenzi had no mind for playing hide and seek anymore. He needed to retrieve the inheritance right away.

But just as he appeared, he saw the Divine Son looking this way.

"Traitor, you dare take my things first, today I will kill you."

"Not good."

Seeing the Divine Son’s murderous intent, Xu Zhenzi realized things were bad; he hadn’t gained anything and instead provoked a powerful enemy.

It’s not worth it!

If he had known it would turn out like this, he would never have laid a hand on the Divine Son.

But the deed was done, and there was no turning back. Xu Zhenzi could only grit his teeth in regret.

He tossed the box fragments in front of the Divine Son, saying, "There’s nothing in the box. The cave master’s inheritance is not with me."

"Lies! Do you think I’ll believe you? Traitor!" The Divine Son knew nothing about the empty box; he was convinced Xu Zhenzi was deceiving him.

Xu Zhenzi couldn’t explain and had to run once more.

...

Leaving the cave was far easier than venturing into its depths. After all, the path he came was already traversed once.

Ye Qiu and Li Jin were still unaware of what had happened after they left the pavilion. Just then, a treasure hunt was unfolding inside.

Because Xu Zhenzi and the Divine Son descended rapidly from upstairs, everyone realized that the cave’s inheritance might have fallen into someone else’s hands, and they all chased after to find out.

Xu Zhenzi was the most unfortunate. Although he was the first to reach the depths of the cave, he ended up with an empty box—the inheritance had vanished.

Now, as he tried to go back to search for the inheritance, the Divine Son was killing him.

To deal with Xu Zhenzi, the Divine Son even told others that Xu Zhenzi had obtained the inheritance.

Xu Zhenzi was utterly disheartened; everyone was against him, forcing him to hide around with much difficulty.

Thankfully, Xu Zhenzi was skilled in formations. Using the Invisibility Formation for cover, he returned to the golden corpse and read the inscribed words again.

He didn’t kowtow, only moved his hand to knock on the stone slab.

Nothing special happened, but when his gaze landed on the cushion, he suddenly felt a rush of joy and quickly removed it, finding a hidden mechanism.

He pried open the stone slab and found a box.

"So the inheritance was here all along."

"He’s over there!" Some people saw the stone slab move on its own. Initially, they thought it was a hallucination, but when Xu Zhenzi reached out to take the box, someone immediately recognized it as the person everyone was looking for.

As this person yelled, everyone swarmed over, not wanting to let him slip away.

With the box in hand and realizing he had been discovered, Xu Zhenzi quickly hid again in the Invisibility Formation, which moved with him.

To prevent another incident of ending up with an empty box, this time Xu Zhenzi first opened and checked inside, only to find it once again empty.

Xu Zhenzi was bewildered again!

Mmp!

He felt fooled twice by the cave master. In furious indignation, Xu Zhenzi struck at the cross-legged golden figure.

Yet, his strike rebounded completely.

Xu Zhenzi stumbled, frustrated—not only was he toyed with by the cave master, now even the master’s body was attacking him!

Xu Zhenzi prepared to strike the golden figure again, but just then the Divine Son appeared. Xu Zhenzi’s earlier attack hit himself, breaking the Invisibility Formation and leaving him completely exposed, with nowhere to escape.

"This time, let’s see where you can hide," the Divine Son said coldly.

Besides the Divine Son, many others were eyeing him greedily. Although Xu Zhenzi was adept at formations and not weak, he couldn’t withstand so many opponents, and would they give him time to set up formations now?

So, Xu Zhenzi was in a miserable situation!
