Chapter 1593: Noon Has Arrived! Fifth Watch
Overnight, the Capital City transformed from a bustling metropolis to an empty shell, with only a handful unwilling to leave remaining.
As the first rays of sunlight broke the horizon, a shadowy figure slowly emerged.
The person was expressionless, yet emitted a deadly aura.
He was the alien Martial Artist who had withstood the nuclear attack last night, the very being who had vowed to destroy the Capital City the following day.
Whether the Capital City would be obliterated and erased from history was a scene watched by everyone.
Even if they couldn’t be there in person, people watched from afar through high-tech cameras.
Would the Capital City, weathered by centuries, be completely flattened like Monty Peak?
To some, the Capital City was significant; countless kings and ministers had been enshrined here, many prominent figures once lived in its midst. In a sense, the Capital City bore witness to the most splendid eras of Huaxia’s history. Its disappearance would undoubtedly be a major loss to Huaxia.
Yet people were helpless against it; no matter how deep their attachment to this ancient city was, they couldn’t protect it.
"I said yesterday, if Ye Qiu doesn’t show up, I will destroy this city. Surprisingly, someone tried to kill me. I must say, your indigenous technology has some merit; it nearly harmed me," the alien Martial Artist muttered to himself.
"It’s just a pity, I couldn’t kill you!"
As the spokesperson of Huaxia, the elder who ordered the nuclear strike, stood before the ancient city, gazing at this alien Martial Artist.
"It seems the person who acted against me was you," the alien Martial Artist said, his eyes gleaming like electricity as he looked at the elder, whose powerful aura flung the elder directly to the top of the city wall.
"Old Chief!" Instantly, the other elders rushed to help him.
"I’m fine," the elder indicated he was unharmed, stepping to the forefront.
"Among the natives, it’s rare to find someone like you who isn’t afraid of death. Look at this city, only a few old relics like you remain. Tsk tsk..." the alien Martial Artist clicked his tongue, mercilessly mocking those who cherished their lives.
"The order to use weapons against you came from me. If you want to vent, you can kill me. I hope you spare everyone else afterward and don’t destroy this city," the elder said.
"No, you can’t."
"Old Chief, don’t say such nonsense. If anyone is to die, it should be us," the other elders volunteered for death, taking the blame for the order upon themselves.
The alien Martial Artist coldly observed everything and thundered, "Enough!"
"Do you think your deaths would calm my anger?"
"Don’t you not want me to kill others? I’ll be impartial. I’ll slaughter them all before your eyes, and this city behind you, I’ll raze it to the ground, turning it into ruins," the alien Martial Artist said, nearly deranged.
With that, he was about to kill the other elders when suddenly, a ’Wait’ made the alien Martial Artist halt.
"I know who you ultimately want to kill. They’re just ordinary people, easy pickings for you, but it’s pointless. You want to kill Ye Qiu, right? I’m Ye Qiu’s mentor. You can kill me, but I hope you spare them," said an elder as he stepped out from behind the others.
"You... why didn’t you leave..." The spokesperson elder looked at him and was angry the elder had deceived him.
The elder bowed, "This man seeks slaughter because of Ye Qiu. Since he can’t appear, it’s my duty as his mentor to step forward. You still have to steer Huaxia; even if facing death, it should be me."
The mentor’s appearance turned the situation, bringing the alien Martial Artist’s focus to him. He’d been struggling to find someone close to Ye Qiu. Although the Triangle Family was connected to Ye Qiu, they were merely his subordinates, not truly close, but having Ye Qiu’s mentor was different. He could genuinely force Ye Qiu out.
"Are you really his mentor?"
"Absolutely, although my strength isn’t as great as his, I did indeed train him," the mentor said.
"Good, very good. I admire you for stepping out willingly. However, asking me to spare all of them seems unreasonable. You have one life, while they have so many. It seems a pity to let them go for nothing," the alien Martial Artist said blandly.
The mentor frowned deeply. He’d come forward hoping to ensure the safety of the spokesperson elders.
"What if you count me in?" Just then, Ye Zi appeared. The mentor exclaimed, "Girl, why did you come out?"
Ye Zi said, "If it’s acceptable for you to sacrifice yourself for others, why can’t others do the same?"
With that, Ye Zi addressed the alien Martial Artist, "I am Ye Qiu’s sister. Let them go, and how about I stay?"
Clap! Clap!
The alien Martial Artist clapped and said, "Tsk tsk, first a mentor, now a sister. Very good, very good. It’s fine not to kill these old coots."
With a wave, the mentor and Ye Zi were powerless to resist and were seized by an invisible grip and hoisted into the sky.
"With the two of you in hand, I think the chances of him appearing are greatly increased," the alien Martial Artist said.
Soon, the alien Martial Artist’s voice began to spread, declaring he wanted to see Ye Qiu by noon, otherwise, he would kill his mentor and sister.
Time ticked away, and Ye Qiu’s mentor and sister, Ye Zi, were about to be executed, the entire Huaxia watching the scene unfold.
"Where has War God Ye gone? We hope he returns soon."
"War God Ye, Huaxia needs you!"
Numerous people across Huaxia prayed for Ye Qiu to appear; otherwise, his mentor and sister would perish here.
Just as noon was approaching, a woman rushed forward.
"Huh?" The alien Martial Artist was about to act when he heard the woman say, "Old man, if you wish to die, why leave me behind? If you’re dying, I’ll die alongside you."
"Oh? Interesting." The alien Martial Artist suddenly paused. He realized Ye Qiu had not only a mentor but also a mentor’s wife.
Mei Huiling’s arrival made the mentor both angry and helpless. However, it was evident the alien Martial Artist wouldn’t spare Mei Huiling, and he had to accept this fact.
"You said we couldn’t have been born in the same year, month, and day, but we are willing to die together on the same year, month, and day. No matter what, today, I won’t leave. If we die, we die together," Mei Huiling said determinedly.
"Alas..." The mentor sighed and finally nodded, "Fine, we live and die together, never apart."
Mei Huiling, the mentor, and Ye Zi were all captured by the alien Martial Artist, and it was already noon.
The alien Martial Artist’s voice rang out, "What a lovely old couple, tsk tsk... so affectionate, I almost don’t want to kill you. But alas, now it’s noon, and Ye Qiu hasn’t appeared, so I’ll have to send you three to the afterlife together."
The alien Martial Artist chuckled coldly and immediately launched three attacks to kill the three of them.
