Chapter 491: Mother Ou’s Confession 1
Chapter 491: Mother Ou’s Confession 1
Qiao Qianmo was still crying, but Ou Mama’s slightly raised voice silenced her, "Enough!"Qiao Qianmo froze mid-motion, tears still clinging to the corners of her eyes as she looked at Ou Mama in disbelief.
"You’re still crying? What do you have to cry about? The one who truly deserves to cry, shouldn’t it be Xia Xiyan, who’s still lying in bed because of you?!" Ou Mama glared furiously at Qiao Qianmo, pointing one hand toward Xiyan who was behind her.
Qiao Qianmo’s lips moved slightly, "Auntie..."
"Don’t call me Auntie!" Ou Mama closed her eyes.
At this moment, she felt completely humiliated.
She had put so much trust in Qiao Qianmo, believing in this child who had always appeared so innocent and pure.
But after just a year abroad, how could everything have changed so drastically upon her return?
She had been made a fool of by a young girl, despite being over forty years old!
When she opened her eyes again, Ou Mama’s gaze turned cold, fixing on Qiao Qianmo, "I am so disappointed in you! You’ve completely betrayed the trust I placed in you. Do you know that integrity is the quality I value the most, and yet you used the very thing I treasure to test the limits of my patience?! You’re only seventeen or eighteen, how can you already be so scheming?"
Qiao Qianmo’s tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, but she could not utter a single word in her defense.
Nothing she could say would make a difference now.
The image she had painstakingly built in front of her aunt had completely crumbled in an instant!
Xiyan glanced at Qiao Qianmo, who was sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.
The long-held weight in her chest seemed to finally settle in that moment.
The suffocating frustration in her chest seemed to gradually dissipate along with Qiao Qianmo’s exposed tears.
After all, because of her, Xiyan had endured so many misunderstandings!
Sigh, everything was finally cleared up.
Ou Mama was about to walk over to Xiyan’s bedside but found herself instinctively blocked by Ou Jue.
"What are you doing?" Ou Mama glared at Ou Jue in annoyance, "Can’t I go see her?"
Ou Jue pursed his lips and spoke softly, "You’re only allowed to look from a distance."
It was no secret that his mother had never liked that silly little girl.
"Brat, who do you think you’re talking to?" Ou Mama raised her hand as though to hit him, but in the end, she merely gave her son a light pat on the back. "I have something to say to her. Move aside!"
"Cough." Xiyan hurriedly let out a quiet cough, tugging on Ou Jue’s sleeve as she whispered, "It’s okay."
Ou Mama stepped around Ou Jue and approached Xiyan, "Do you still feel any discomfort anywhere?"
As Xiyan lifted her head, she was met with Ou Mama’s gentle gaze.
Wait a second, a gentle gaze!!!
Xiyan’s brain short-circuited for two seconds, "N-No, not anymore."
"Still saying no? Look at the injuries on your body." Ou Mama sat down on the edge of the hospital bed and lifted one of Xiyan’s arms to examine it.
Just that one arm alone had more than ten bite marks on it.
Let alone the other parts of her body.
Before learning the truth, Ou Mama had felt nothing looking at these wounds.
But now that she knew these injuries were sustained because of her, Ou Mama’s heart clenched in pain.
Ou Mama looked at her, "Given how I treated you before, why would you still help me find the necklace?"
Without thinking it through, Xiyan replied, "Because that necklace is very important to you."
"That’s it? In your eyes, I’m probably nothing, so there’s no need for you to do that."
"You’re not nothing." Xiyan said seriously, "You’re the mother of the person I like."
