Super Soldier in the City

Chapter 1874 - 1937: Awakening

Chapter 1874 - 1937: Awakening

Li Yifei’s body was convulsing. He hadn’t expected the snake venom to be so rapid. The run just now accelerated the venom’s spread. His right leg suddenly cramped and lost control, causing him to crash to the ground. Meanwhile, his entire left arm was in excruciating pain, as if it had suddenly broken. By the time Su Lio ran over, Li Yifei’s symptoms from the poisoning had worsened. He felt thirsty, his vision was darkening, and his body was shaking unconsciously."Li Yifei, what’s wrong? Don’t scare me!" Su Lio reached out fearfully, grabbing Li Yifei’s right arm, trying to pull him up. They were in the mountains, and normally she wasn’t afraid when facing many animals alone here, but with another person, especially with Li Yifei’s strange condition now, Su Lio felt terrified.

"Don’t touch me!" Li Yifei growled through gritted teeth, causing Su Lio to pause. This was the first time he had spoken to her with such a tone since knowing him. For a moment, Su Lio wanted to let go of his hand, retort, "Who wants to touch you anyway?", and turn away. But at that instant, as her emotions flared, she suddenly saw the other hand Li Yifei had just pressed beneath him, his left hand, the one that had just blocked the snake’s bite for her.

That hand was still covered in blood and the snake’s decomposed flesh, which was quite horrifying. But that was not what caused Su Lio’s heart to tremble. The real reason her anger vanished and she felt a pang of fear was seeing that Li Yifei’s left hand had already swollen and turned somewhat black, and even his forearm was darkening. Su Lio’s eyes widened instantly, and linking that to Li Yifei’s condition, she finally realized what had happened.

"You... you got bitten by a snake?" Su Lio asked, her voice trembling.

Li Yifei gritted his teeth and squeezed out two words, "No shit!"

He wanted to get up and run down the mountain, but he could no longer climb up. The snake venom was exceptionally potent, and he had no idea it would act so quickly. Only three or four minutes had passed, yet it had already progressed to this extent. Normally, even for a venom like the Viperhead of the Wild Mountain, which is considered one of the top ten venomous snakes, it wouldn’t act so fast.

Su Lio confirmed that Li Yifei was poisoned. She gulped and quickly asked, "What can I do? Do you want me to suck out the venom?"

"Suck my sister’s venom, have you watched too many novels and TV shows or what?" Li Yifei thought to himself and used his last bit of strength to say, "Hurry up and find someone to save me!"

After saying this, Li Yifei’s head hit the stone slab as the neurotoxin paralyzed his brain, and he felt his vision go completely black.

"Hey, hey, don’t die on me, I’ll call someone to save you right now!" Upon seeing Li Yifei unresponsive, Su Lio called out twice, uncertain about what to do with him. She also lacked any experience in such situations, but fortunately, Li Yifei had already told her to find help. So after a few seconds of daze, Su Lio quickly stood up and ran down the mountain, shouting as she ran, "Help! Somebody, quick!"

Li Yifei couldn’t see, but he could still hear. Hearing Su Lio’s voice, Li Yifei thought of rolling his eyes. This girl... she’s shouting correctly though. Just hope someone comes quickly to save me.

Two days later, Li Yifei woke up, struggling to open his eyes and saw an old face in front of him. Wasn’t it Su Mengxin’s grandfather Su Jingguo? The old man’s eyelids drooped, appearing to be asleep. The place he was lying wasn’t where he stayed before, but a larger room with simple furnishing. Li Yifei glanced around and then closed his eyes again, thinking to himself, "Good thing I didn’t die. Looks like my body isn’t missing any parts."

When Su Lio ran to find help, Li Yifei’s consciousness was fading, and eventually, he knew nothing of what transpired. So he didn’t know what happened during that time.

At this moment, he still felt weak in his body, so weak that he couldn’t even muster the strength to turn his head. After closing his eyes for a long time, Li Yifei gathered some strength and opened his eyes again, seeing Su Jingguo looking at him.

"Yifei, you’re awake!" Old Master Su’s face lit up with joy, he quickly stood up and approached Li Yifei, saying excitedly, "It’s good you’re awake, it’s good you’re awake."

"Grandpa." Li Yifei croaked out, his voice weak.

"There’s no need to speak. It’s good that you’re awake. I’ll go fetch your uncle to come and check on you again." Saying this, Elder Su was about to leave. Li Yifei was very touched. He hadn’t expected the elderly man, who was in poor health, to have stayed by his side for only God knows how long.

A few minutes later, a group of people approached the door. Elder Su and Su Tianhai came in one after the other. Li Yifei opened his eyes again and, seeing the two seniors, managed to squeeze out a smile.

"Don’t speak yet. You’ve just woken up, and your body is still very weak. Let me have a look." Su Tianhai said as he grasped Li Yifei’s wrist. Li Yifei then felt a refreshing sensation flowing into his body, entering through his right arm. Within seconds, Li Yifei felt a bit stronger and much more comfortable, as before all he felt was soreness throughout his body.

Elder Su was not only checking him but also helping to adjust his body. Li Yifei felt better and said, "Old Master, don’t waste your True Qi on me. Since I’ve woken up, I’m fine."

"Silly child, this bit of True Qi is not a problem, the important thing is that you are okay." Su Tianhai shook his head and continued to transmit True Qi. Li Yifei couldn’t stop him and could only enjoy it.

At the door, Wang Chao and Ma Han were watching, along with Su Lio, who didn’t dare to come in. After all, if it weren’t for her, Li Yifei wouldn’t have almost died.

Time went back to two days ago. Su Lio staggered down the mountain, shouting for help. She was halfway up the mountain, and the Su Family’s villa was at the bottom. Her voice would carry far from this position, but her frail condition made her breath weak, and her voice couldn’t travel far. It wasn’t until she was near the villa that someone heard her, rushed over to check the situation, and saw Li Yifei who had already fallen unconscious. This alarmed the Su Family. Fortunately, Su Tianhai was accompanying Su Jingguo for a walk in the garden. Hearing the cries for help, he quickly rushed over and saw the Su Family members carrying Li Yifei down the mountain.

When Su Tianhai saw Li Yifei’s condition, he was greatly surprised and asked Su Lio what had happened. Only then did Su Lio explain that Li Yifei was bitten by a snake while saving her. Su Tianhai said nothing further and treated Li Yifei on the spot.

The snake venom was incredibly potent, and the Su Family indeed had no antitoxin serum. Fortunately, Su Tianhai had experience in this area. He immediately performed bloodletting to expel the poison and then sent him to the city’s hospital for further treatment. After a series of efforts, they brought him back home. However, Li Yifei was unaware of these events, as the potent venom kept him in a coma for two days.

Li Yifei’s robust body and status as an Innate Expert were to thank, as he managed to wake up in just two days. If it had been a regular person, it would have been uncertain whether he could have held on until Su Tianhai’s rescue. By the time Su Tianhai reached the scene, the snake venom might have already fully spread.

During these two days, Su Lio came to see Li Yifei several times. She felt guilty, thinking that if she had trusted Li Yifei from the beginning, this danger might have been averted. Her doubts nearly led to her being bitten by the viper again. If not for Li Yifei’s willingness to risk his life, she might be dead now.

Her grandfather had said that her body couldn’t withstand this kind of poison, and even if Li Yifei was there, it might not have been stoppable.

The Su Family was also frightened. If Su Lio had been bitten and killed, it would have been unbearable. The Su Family would have been deeply grieved. Luckily Li Yifei was there, although no one knew why he was on the mountain or right beside Su Lio, risking a snake bite to save her.

Only a small group knew the specifics, and Su Lio didn’t hide it, even mentioning Su Tong’s involvement. Consequently, Su Tong had been beaten by Ma Han and was also bedridden, in confinement.

Recently, Su Lio had been helping Su Jingguo take care of Li Yifei, even wiping his face with a towel, something she had never done before. Standing at the door and seeing Li Yifei awake reminded her of the events of that day, filling her with lingering fear. Without Li Yifei, she would now be a corpse—a very unsightly one—due to the snake venom causing Li Yifei’s entire body to turn black.

Su Tianhai withdrew his hand, and Li Yifei felt much better. Smiling at the two elders, he said, "I’m fine now, sorry to have worried you!"

"You silly child!" Su Tianhai shook his head and said, "I must thank you this time. If it weren’t for you, perhaps..."

"Old Master, there’s no need to say that, I’m perfectly fine." Li Yifei said.

Su Jingguo said, "Yifei, these two days you should rest well, and this time, grandpa also wants to thank you."

At this moment, Su Lio walked in, stood by the bed, and looked at Li Yifei, saying, "Thank you."

Li Yifei grinned and said, "It’s nothing, it’s over now. Be more careful next time you go up the mountain."

Su Lio nodded twice but seemed hesitant to speak. Li Yifei, however, didn’t feel like talking much. Saving Su Lio felt like his duty as a man, as someone from the family, even though they were not related by blood. After all, she was related to the two Elder Su’s whom he respected and was Su Mengxin’s aunt. Li Yifei never regretted it, although he almost lost his life in the process. He simply didn’t feel like talking because he was rather tired.

After a deep sleep, Li Yifei awoke again and found he could move. His body still felt a bit sore, but his brain could control his body now. Slowly supporting himself up, he saw Su Tianhai walk in.

"Awake? Haha, I’ll have someone bring you some food. You haven’t eaten for over two days." As Su Tianhai spoke, he turned to leave, but Li Yifei stopped him, saying, "Great-grandfather, there’s no rush, I’m not hungry yet."
