Super Soldier in the City

Chapter 1845 - 1907: Are You Selling or Not?

Chapter 1845 - 1907: Are You Selling or Not?

The two arrived at the BMW showroom. From a distance, the receptionist saw them getting out of a taxi and shouted to the sales inside, "Two customers are here!"A few salespeople didn’t expect customers to come at this time, so they all got up. One of them asked, "How did they come?"

"Taxi!" the receptionist replied.

Immediately, two salespeople stopped in their tracks. They sell cars all day, and even though they might not sell one for days, selling just one brings in a good commission. Their salary, bonuses, and commissions together become quite substantial. Over time, they developed a bad habit of judging potential customers by their appearances. These two were veterans in the showroom, and upon hearing the customers came by taxi, they lost interest and turned back.

Even introducing the cars would be a waste of effort. The BMW showroom is located in a remote area, similar to other showrooms that aren’t in bustling areas, so those buying cars usually drive there to browse freely. Otherwise, getting a taxi here isn’t easy. Customers arriving by taxi are usually just there to look around or simply to rest, as the place is air-conditioned and offers drinks.

The two had encountered this many times over the years. After offering lengthy introductions, the customers would ask for various discounts and benefits, and once calculated, they’d say they needed to reconsider or mention they’d pick a model later, only for the discussion to go nowhere.

So, when they heard the couple arrived by taxi, they immediately chose not to pursue them.

Of the five salespeople, two turned back after hearing this, and two others looked outside but lost interest too. Only one young woman did not care. She was a recent graduate, having joined the showroom less than three months ago. Technically still an intern, she saw all kinds of customers as training for herself, so she didn’t care whether they were genuinely there to buy a car.

The young woman tidied her clothes, holding a guideboard with car information and discount policies clutched to her chest. Since she wasn’t yet familiar with everything, she carried it in case a customer asked a question; she could quickly check instead of running back to search, flipping through to find answers quickly.

At least the young woman had a professional attitude. Of course, to the other salespeople, it seemed she was about to waste her effort. Didn’t she realize her words could be wasted?

The receptionist opened the door, saying "Welcome," and the young woman took a deep breath and stepped forward.

As they entered, Song Lianyao removed her sunglasses, and the two receptionists felt she was stunning, glancing a few more times involuntarily. As for the man beside her... he had a tall figure with a commanding presence. They didn’t look around but focused directly on the young saleswoman.

"Hello, I’m the sales consultant here at the BMW showroom. Very pleased to serve you," the young saleswoman said.

"Hmm!" Li Yifei nodded, while Song Lianyao said thank you, which made the young woman feel much less nervous. Although she’d been here for almost three months and encountered many difficult people who asked tricky questions and left with sarcastic remarks, she hadn’t faced this kind of experience much.

Such people were abundant, but the initial impression of Song Lianyao and Li Yifei was great, especially hearing that thank you from Lianyao, which genuinely felt like gratitude to her.

"You’re welcome. Please come this way, so we can first look at the models, or go directly over there to see the actual cars. You can make a choice," the young saleswoman said.

In the resting area, several salespeople smirked. One of them discreetly said with disdain, "She’s serious, but it’s pointless. You can tell they’re not here to buy a car, although the woman’s pretty, the man doesn’t seem like a wealthy person!"

"Well, you never know, maybe the woman has money and is supporting the man!" another laughed.

"Haha, good point. If they buy a BMW 320, it’s a car for keeping a mistress. If they buy something else... well, doesn’t matter. They’d have to genuinely want to buy it anyway."

"Heh, don’t laugh, what if they really buy it? That girl has made two sales since she started. At last month’s performance review meeting, the manager criticized her, and if she wasn’t an intern, she might have been dismissed."

"Is that my fault?" said another person.

"Haha. Let’s watch, what if they really buy?" suggested a woman. Women’s intuition is odd; she initially didn’t believe the couple intended to buy, but after a few more glances, she felt they might indeed be serious about it.

"If they really buy, then dinner’s on me. We’ll have Sichuan food!" the first person to speak up declared.

"You said it," others cheered.

"But what if they don’t buy?"

"If not, we’ll... forget it. The rest of us will go Dutch; you don’t have to pay. Deal?"

"Deal!" that person said.

Li Yifei’s sharp hearing caught their conversation, and he frowned in displeasure, glancing back at the laughing group. Their laughter quickly faded, and someone muttered softly, "Did he hear us?"

"Impossible. It’s too far for him to hear, and we weren’t speaking loudly."

"Forget it, let’s stop talking. We’ll watch silently."

Over here, Li Yifei and Song Lianyao went straight to check out cars. Li Yifei planned to buy an SUV for his father-in-law, one with ample space and great performance, which would facilitate future trips, and he had already settled on the BMW X5 or X6.

Song Lianyao was naturally very happy. Li Yifei was present to help choose a car for her father, and she was equally invested in the process.

"Sir, all our cars are imported, so the prices might be slightly higher..." the young saleswoman explained earnestly.

"No problem, as long as the car is good. Besides, I’d like to take the car today if possible," Li Yifei said.

The young saleswoman’s eyes lit up, as Li Yifei seemed genuinely set on buying the car, which surprised her. She initially treated this as hands-on practice, thinking it’d just be an opportunity to bolster her professional skills. But it turned out the couple was indeed looking to purchase?

Moreover, their target was clear. Li Yifei only checked out those two models and, upon patting the BMW X6’s door, turned to Song Lianyao and said, "Let’s go with this one."

"Sure, but I don’t know much about cars, so you decide, honey," Song Lianyao said cheerfully.

Li Yifei smiled and said, "Alright, then it’s settled."

The BMW Li Yifei chose was the latest model, an X6 xDrive50i M Sport, valued at around 1.4 million yuan. It had a 4.4 displacement, a top speed of 250 km/h, and a 0-100 acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.

It’s a luxury car known for both price and quality, and it’s quite expensive even at the showroom discount price. The young saleswoman opened her notebook, did some calculations, and finally gave Li Yifei an estimate.

1.4 million yuan. This price isn’t cheap for a car even at the showroom, not considering sports cars—it’s top tier. The young saleswoman’s face reddened; if they really bought it, it’d be the most expensive car she’d sold over the past three months. Her previous sales were only ordinary models priced at two or three hundred thousand yuan.

She was sweating nervously. According to the commission structure, if this deal went through, her commission would be more than her salary combined over the last three months. Oh, please, please let them buy it, she prayed silently.

"The X5 is also good and much cheaper!" Song Lianyao suddenly said. She realized that having Li Yifei accompany her home for several days was already something that made her happy. The events over the past two days had been satisfying, especially in front of relatives—it had seriously boosted her standing. Yesterday, they’d received gifts worth more than 10 million yuan, something she never dreamed of before. She’d also generously given out gifts of over three million yuan, leaving just five items for her child while giving the rest to her mother.

She was worried that, upon returning, other sisters-in-law might have opinions, so hearing the car would cost over 1.4 million yuan made her hesitate. The X5 they looked at earlier cost half as much. She felt there’s no need to buy such an expensive one as they looked similar to her.

Li Yifei seemed to understand her concern, took her hand, and said, "Don’t worry, your husband has plenty of money."

"I just feel like, if I enjoy too much when others haven’t, I’ll feel bad," Song Lianyao murmured.

The young saleswoman, listening on the side, felt her heart beating wildly. At first, she thought it didn’t matter whether they bought it. She hadn’t expected that the couple whom everyone underestimated would suddenly express interest in the most expensive car. Her heart began to race with hope, even though she felt a bit let down when they considered the cheaper X5. Yet, supporters are clients too, so better a completed sale regardless.

"Stepping down to the X5 is also an option," she convinced herself, continuing, "as the price is significantly lower, but we can assure you there’s not much difference in performance. While the interiors may vary, we can enhance the interiors with some external fittings for a more comfortable experience. So if the price is a concern, you can choose the X5."

From X6 to X5, she managed to persuade herself that as long as they bought one, she’d consider it a step forward. By the standards of her past months’ business, even at a slightly lower level, their purchase would favor her optimistically.

"Let’s go with this one, no need to change it," Li Yifei decided just as Song Lianyao seemed about to change her mind. He turned the X6’s steering wheel and said, "But there’s one request: I want to drive it away today."

Song Lianyao was obviously happy, as Li Yifei was choosing a car for her father, so she was attentive too.
