Chapter 1772 - 1825: Wu the Great Beauty

However, seeing a young girl beside Li Yifei, Wu Shuwei felt a bit annoyed. Once she noticed the new scars on the girl’s face, Wu Shuwei got angry, immediately assuming they were caused by Li Yifei. But upon hearing the girl’s explanation, Wu Shuwei felt guilty, realizing she misunderstood Li Yifei and vented her frustration.Li Yifei, on the receiving end of her frustration, wasn’t angry. He knew Wu Shuwei’s temper; she had a decent character. So he simply smiled lightly and said, "Long time no see. Where are you off to?"

"Me? I’m going to the Middle East," Wu Shuwei responded.

The three of them standing at the restroom door was awkward, so they found a quieter place to sit down. The reason it was three people was solely because Zhang Lan didn’t want to leave; she was increasingly curious about Li Yifei and wanted to learn more about him.

Moreover, Li Yifei didn’t chase her away, otherwise, she would have left.

Sitting down with cold drinks, Li Yifei looked at Wu Shuwei, and their eyes met several times. Each time their gazes touched, Wu Shuwei quickly turned away, as if looking at him triggered some intense feeling.

The feeling between them was quite subtle. Back in Dubai, they went through a lot together, especially near-death experiences, and Li Yifei would always appear on time and perfectly during her most perilous moments.

Wu Shuwei was a non-marriage advocate. Despite her happy family, for the past years she enjoyed being alone, avoiding dealing with many things and sidestepping many troubles. But after meeting Li Yifei, her perception of men changed dramatically. Of course, she analyzed this thoroughly afterward, realizing her change of heart was only towards Li Yifei; she remained uninterested in other men.

It was a rare occurrence, logically speaking, wasn’t a big deal. But Wu Shuwei was more apprehensive, for if she merely found Li Yifei a good man, suitable for interaction or even... marriage, she wasn’t too troubled. The problem was, she frequently dreamt of Li Yifei.

To put it plainly, in all her life, Wu Shuwei hadn’t often had such dreams, not with clear subjects, but recently, she has been having these dreams often.

Sighing, Wu Shuwei slowly lifted her head, meeting Li Yifei’s gaze this time without immediately looking away.

Regrettably, it didn’t last long. After a few seconds, she averted her gaze again. Li Yifei’s stare was just too intense. Though he wasn’t particularly handsome, nor were his eyes big, being stared at by him made Wu Shuwei’s heart race wildly, like a little rabbit frantically hopping around.

It didn’t feel normal; Wu Shuwei didn’t think she liked Li Yifei deeply. Ultimately, she was just... um, somewhat fond of him, surely that’s all.

Zhang Lan felt a bit disheartened. Among her peers, she had always considered herself quite good, even pampered throughout her upbringing, with decent family education, skilled in arts, literature, and music, virtuous without the delicacy common to many girls. But today she was unlucky, curious enough to be led out by Gu Yandong. Luckily, she met Li Yifei but... The uncle didn’t even glance at her. As soon as the beautiful sister named Wu Shuwei appeared, the uncle’s gaze was wholly drawn to her.

With a pout, Zhang Lan sat upright, deliberately puffing out her chest. Her bosom was well-developed, above average among her peers, usually giving her confidence. But it was in vain; notwithstanding her attempts, the uncle continued not to notice her. On the contrary, Zhang Lan saw his gaze seemed to fall on Wu Shuwei’s chest.

Zhang Lan slumped back in discouragement, propping her chin with her hands, her eyes vacant.

Li Yifei chuckled finally breaking the silence, saying, "Haven’t seen you for months, even more beautiful now!"

"Thank you!" Wu Shuwei took a sip of her drink, switched her posture, her long legs crossed such that Li Yifei could see part of her thigh and entire calf. This reminded Li Yifei of their time in Dubai. Wu Shuwei felt a warm sensation coursing through her, uncomfortable under Li Yifei’s intense gaze, but not unpleasant, as though a magical voice whispered by her ear, urging her to open her legs and let him take a look.

Wu Shuwei reached out, covering her vital area with her hand, pressing down her skirt as if wary Li Yifei would suddenly rush over and lift it.

Zhang Lan sighed again, a hint of trouble on her youthful face.

"I heard about some things too." After a brief silence, Wu Shuwei spoke up.

"Hmm?"

"You handled things well. My dad mentioned you during a phone call at home the other day," Wu Shuwei said.

Li Yifei grinned and said, "Not too bad; didn’t disappoint anyone."

"Too modest! I didn’t expect you to be this impressive back then."

"I’ve always claimed to be good, but you didn’t believe me."

Wu Shuwei wanted to roll her eyes. Given the circumstances, no matter how much Li Yifei boasted, she wouldn’t necessarily believe him. Although she had come to believe in Li Yifei’s formidable skills at that time, she hadn’t imagined he’d be that impressive, defeating someone considered one of the world’s best. Of course, Wu Shuwei didn’t know the details; she only got some snippets from her dad, aware Li Yifei beat a remarkably strong person.

"Be careful in the Middle East; it’s still not peaceful there," Li Yifei continued.

Wu Shuwei nodded seriously, for when the conversation turned to the Middle East, various memories resurfaced. It was indeed dangerous there, and she didn’t want to go, but she had no choice. Others weren’t familiar with the situation there, so Wu Shuwei had to take charge.

Besides, she was going to liaise with the Li family and discuss certain matters.

Yet, Wu Shuwei didn’t mention this now; she was distracted, recalling the incidents in the hotel—whether drunk or... slipping in the bathroom.

A large hand waved in front of her, interrupting Wu Shuwei’s wandering thoughts. Realizing her distraction, she quickly lowered her head to compose herself and cover up her awkwardness. Her ears resounded with Li Yifei’s magnetic voice, identical to that in her dreams, he said, "My plane is almost here. You know my number; if you run into trouble in the Middle East, you can seek help from Prince Sashar. Don’t worry about owing him a favor; I’ll repay him later."

Wu Shuwei quickly looked up to see Li Yifei already standing, his hand extended. She hurriedly stood up too and said, "So soon?"

After speaking, she felt it was inappropriate but realized it was too late to retract.
