Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18

Chapter 211: Tactless Negotiations

Chapter 211: Tactless Negotiations

Did he think that Bradon wouldn’t have the balls to shoot him?

I wished that I had the luxury to think the same. While suppressing the burning urge to curse everything and everyone to hell, I continued appealing to Bradon with my eyes.

“We won’t have dinner. Please let us talk for a while. That’s it. That’s all that I’m asking for...” I continued negotiating with him.

I would continue negotiating and backing down step by step until I could make him agree. If he wouldn’t allow me to have an entire dinner with the prince, then I would just keep it to a short conversation. If he doesn’t want me to leave the mansion, then I will beg the prince to talk to me in the mansion.

Bradon remained silent but I could tell that he was considering my proposal.

“I don’t need to go to the palace. We can talk here, if you’ll allow it,” I resumed my negotiation by taking even another step back.

The prince smirked at me and I shook my head at him softly as I begged for him to remain silent and let me handle Bradon my own way. Bradon was still hesitant but that meant that he was at least considering my proposal.

“Come on, Bradon. I came all the way here and you’re not even going to invite me in?” the prince asked.

I gasped as the prince slowly turned around to face Bradon. For a moment, I honestly thought that I might end up hearing gunshots. I willed my feet to move as I took a few shaky steps forward. Bradon narrowed his eyes at me but it felt like it was already too late for me to turn back now. I walked past the prince without looking at him as I kept my eyes glued on Bradon’s face.

“Bradon, it won’t take very long. Please...just let me talk to the prince inside,” I pleaded as I came to stand between him and the prince.

Bradon stared at me with such cold eyes that I had to control my natural instinct to wince. I knew that I was asking for quite a lot from him and that he was probably bending many rules for me by not shooting the prince on the spot for intruding onto his property. It might have been unfair of me but I didn’t think that I had another choice because I wasn’t about to let this opportunity slide.

“I’ll do...whatever you want...after...” I mumbled slowly and just loud enough for my words to be for his ears only.

I pleaded to him with my eyes as I bit down on my lower lip suggestively. That was the best that I could offer to negotiate with him. After all, it wasn’t like I was asking to follow the prince back to his palace. All I was asking for was a short talk with the prince in private.

“I guess that’s good enough. What about you, Your Highness? What are you going to offer?” Bradon asked as he turned his attention away from me.

I followed his large frame with my eyes as Bradon lowered his gun and walked past me to approach the prince.

Did he just ask the prince for something in return for talking to me?

He’s such a scheming...

“Huh...how interesting...” I muttered to myself as I struggled to believe this ridiculous turn of events.

Surprisingly, Bradon suddenly agreed to my proposal after he made sure that he was getting something in return from me. However, as if what I had agreed to offer him wasn’t enough, he was now making a deal with the crown prince.

“What is it that you want? The license for a couple of new casinos?” the prince asked.

“We could start with that. I’ll also appreciate it if you could relinquish your shares in a couple of businesses to me,” Bradon said before smiling at the prince.

The prince’s expression turned sour and I figured that Bradon must have asked for quite a lot although I didn’t fully understand the value of what he was asking for. Regardless, even I knew that the license to open and operate casinos in the country is rarer than gold and considered almost invaluable. I narrowed my eyes as I thought that Bradon was surely lining his pocket by lending me out for a short moment just so that I could talk to the prince. So much for being entirely resistant to the idea for so long.

“That’s quite an expensive price...” the prince muttered.

“You can always turn back and leave,” Bradon said with a dismissive wave of his hand towards the exit.

“Fine. I agree with the condition that I get to talk to her in private without anyone listening in on us,” the prince demanded.

“Fine. I can agree with that but I do have a condition of my own. You are not allowed to lay even a finger on the tip of her hair. Is that clear, Your Highness?” Bradon said with a grin.

“I’ll do my best to comply,” the prince replied with an amused laugh.

...

After the deal was made between the three of us, Bradon delivered on his end of the bargain flawlessly with Zain’s support. They led us to a meeting room located on the guest wing of the mansion on the first floor. I had never paid much attention to the guest wing before because there was simply nothing for me to do there.

“There’s no strict time limit but if I start to miss my wife, I might just barge inside,” Bradon said as he gestured for us to enter the room.

“We won’t take too long,” the prince replied before patting Bradon’s shoulder.

Although that almost-violent episode had passed by fortunately without anyone getting injured, I had to say that I still felt on edge. I wasn’t used to seeing so many guns on display, let alone pointed toward the next king of the country. I could feel Bradon staring at me with his icy cold gaze and I didn’t dare look his way. I told myself that I needed to focus my attention on the prince.
