Chapter 1471: Going Home to Find My Wife
Chapter 1471: Going Home to Find My Wife
Why did she suddenly hang up the phone?
She was the one who called, and she was the one who hung up. She always does this, stirring up someone else’s calm waters and then calmly withdrawing, just like a classic heartbreaker.
Morgan Ashworth dialed the housekeeper, "What did Mrs. Crawford do today? How is her appetite?"
The housekeeper reported truthfully, "Sir, Mrs. Crawford was obedient today, just stayed in her room and didn’t go out. Her appetite is still not good. The nutritionist has been preparing various gourmet dishes for her, but she can only force herself to take a few bites before throwing up everything."
She threw up again?
Morgan immediately furrowed his brow into a tight line. Her pregnancy symptoms were severe, and he never realized how tough pregnancy could be for a woman.
"How is her mood?
"Sir, Mrs. Crawford’s mood is still very bad. Actually, the doctor suggested that she go out and get some sun and fresh air, but she just stays cooped up in her room and refuses to go out. We haven’t seen her smile in a long time."
Is her mood that bad?
Morgan quirked his thin lips into a mocking arc. Of course, her mood was bad. She wants to terminate the pregnancy and leave him. Now she’s under house arrest, how could her mood be good?
"Sir, why don’t... you come back and see Mrs. Crawford? Pregnant women need their husbands by their sides, and you haven’t been home for a few nights now," the housekeeper said cautiously.
Morgan was silent for a few seconds, then coldly refused, "I’m not going back."
What would he do if he went back?
She probably doesn’t want him to return either.
"Keep watching her. Nothing can happen to her or the child, understand?" Morgan said in a deep voice.
"Understood, sir."
After hanging up, Morgan didn’t go back into the private room. He leaned lazily against the wall, with his handsome eyes lowered, lost in thought. The light cast on him seemed exhausted and lonely.
Sometimes he really didn’t know what to do.
What to do about her?
Just then, the coquettish woman urged again, "Master Ashworth, why are you still here? Let’s go inside and play cards."
The woman approached, wanting to entwine Morgan’s muscular arm.
But Morgan cast a sharp, cold glance her way, as if he was about to break her arm.
The woman paled with fright and immediately withdrew her flirtatious hand, not daring to act up anymore.
"Master Ashworth, I..."
Morgan curled his thin lips, impatiently saying, "Who are you?"
The woman froze in embarrassment, "..."
Morgan let out a word from his throat, "Scram."
This woman was exceptionally beautiful, with a great figure, and countless men liked her and pursued her. It was the first time she had received such a cold rejection and humiliation, which made her eyes red with tears.
Just then, Ethan Barnes came out, "What’s going on? Why did you anger my brother-in-law? Hurry up and leave."
The woman scurried away in disgrace.
Ethan looked at Morgan, "Brother-in-law, you really don’t know how to appreciate beauty. That delicate little beauty was almost scared to tears."
Morgan coldly withdrew his gaze. Her tears had nothing to do with him.
In this world, there was only one person’s tears he cared about.
Ethan immediately understood Morgan’s thoughts, "Brother-in-law, if you really can’t let go of the little princess at home, then go back. Say something nice to coax her. You’ve been pampering that little princess for so long, and now you’ve married her. What can you do with your own wife? Just keep coaxing her."
Morgan didn’t say a word. If he could still coax her, he would have done it already, but her heart couldn’t be warmed up.
His coaxing only fueled her defiance.
He needed to keep his distance for a while, so she would learn her lesson.
He absolutely couldn’t allow anything to happen to her or the child. They were his life.
"I’m not going back," Morgan said.
"Alright, alright, don’t go back then. I’ll keep you company tonight." Ethan placed a hand on Morgan’s shoulder.
Morgan immediately brushed his hand away, "I only have a sister, not a brother-in-law, don’t fake ties with me."
Ethan, "..."
So he spent all this time not with his brother-in-law?
Morgan continued playing cards with Ethan and a few other guys. Morgan’s mood wasn’t good, and he smoked one cigarette after another. He didn’t usually smoke, only when he was in a bad mood, and he smoked heavily.
Soon, Morgan lost a few more rounds.
"Sorry, Master Ashworth, we won again." The few card players took the chips from in front of Morgan.
Morgan didn’t even bat an eyelid, but the tight furrow of his brow showed just how irritable he was.
Ethan, an old hand at matters of the heart, noticed that although Morgan was present physically, his mind was already back home, but he couldn’t find a way to return.
Ethan laughed, "They say unlucky at cards, lucky in love. How about this, brother-in-law? I’ll call in a couple of beauties for you."
"Hahaha, yes, Master Ashworth, with such a fierce wife at home, you must find it hard to endure, right?"
"I can still vividly remember when Little Princess Willow overturned the card table. Such a fiery temper isn’t easy for anyone to handle. I hear Little Princess Willow is pregnant now, Master Ashworth. You just got married and already can’t satisfy your appetites. Aren’t you feeling particularly empty and lonely?"
When men are together, once the dirty jokes start, there’s no stopping them, and with Willow’s pregnancy, everyone joked about Morgan Ashworth.
Morgan took a few hard drags of his cigarette, shrouded in smoke, his expression unclear. It was true he hadn’t had any physical intimacy in quite some time.
Due to her physical condition, intimacy was out of the question. At first, he hadn’t been thinking about it, but as far as the conversation went with these people, he involuntarily swallowed hard.
It has been days now, and not thinking about her was impossible.
Morgan stubbed out his half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray and then got up, taking his coat to leave.
"Hey, Master Ashworth, where are you going?"
Ethan nudged the two guys with his foot, lazily chuckling, "Why couldn’t you tell? My brother-in-law is eager to go home and find his wife. What are you guys fussing about?"
The few guys pushed their cards aside, "Then you can’t leave tonight. Stay with us and play all night."
They were on a winning streak and wouldn’t let Ethan go.
"Go, go, go, I’m not spending the night with you. I’m going home too." Ethan took his coat and left as well.
The few guys looked at each other in confusion. Huh, what’s going on now? Were they all going home to be with their wives?
Since when did it become popular to be under the wife’s strict control?
--
Willow Crawford forced herself to eat a few more bites, then after bathing, went to bed early.
