Chapter 1441: Divorce
Chapter 1441: Divorce
Does he listen to her?
Celeste almost laughed, but she didn’t want to talk much to Dominic Reynolds about Ethan Barnes, so she just said lightly, "He’s a very dangerous person, you’d better stay away from him."
Dangerous?
Dominic thought Ethan Barnes was indeed dangerous, but who would have expected that such a dangerous man would relent in front of Celeste, like a proud tiger.
Perhaps Celeste herself hadn’t realized her influence over Ethan Barnes yet, so Dominic didn’t pursue the topic.
"Today you came to me about Flora Thatcher, you want me to drop the lawsuit and let Flora Thatcher go?" Celeste asked directly.
Is that what she thinks?
"Why do you think that?"
"Isn’t that why you’re here? After all, she’s carrying the Reynolds family’s child, and your parents really want this child," Celeste stated matter-of-factly.
Dominic realized that this kidnapping had completely pushed Celeste away; her heart had already grown cold.
"No."
"Then for what?"
Dominic paused for a few seconds, then spoke, "Angel, let’s get a divorce."
He had been holding on tightly, unwilling to let go, not wanting a divorce, but now he had suddenly changed his mind, as he realized his own transformation; he had almost lost sight of who he was.
This version of himself he couldn’t like, let alone Celeste.
Moreover, between her and Ethan Barnes, he still didn’t know what their story was, but he instinctively felt their bond was too deep, and no one could come between them. He couldn’t force himself any longer.
Otherwise, he would ruin his entire life; sometimes cutting your losses is a victory. At least he was letting himself go.
Celeste looked at Dominic; he appeared dim and lost but serene; however, he truly wanted to divorce her, and no one was forcing him.
This was good; she couldn’t comfort him, didn’t dare give him hope again; time would heal everything. Once she left, he’d return to his normal life.
"Alright, let’s go to the Civil Affairs Bureau this afternoon and get the divorce certificate handled."
"Mm, okay."
The two fell silent, as if there was nothing left to say, when a "knock, knock" sounded at the door. Ethan Barnes called from outside, "Your three minutes are up. Shouldn’t you be done talking by now?"
Three minutes meant just three minutes; Ethan wouldn’t give an extra second, so he urged from outside.
"I’m going now." Dominic went out.
Ethan walked in, hands in his pockets, looking at Celeste, "Celeste, what did you talk about with Dominic just now?"
Celeste got out of bed and started packing her things, "Why should I tell you? Aren’t you very capable? You guess."
Ethan’s face darkened, "You won’t tell me, fine, I’ll go ask Dominic. He’ll definitely tell me!"
Celeste was taken aback and immediately grabbed Ethan’s sleeve, "Enough already, let Dominic go, don’t look for him anymore. We’ve agreed to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau this afternoon to get the divorce certificate."
Ethan raised his eyebrows, pulled Celeste into his embrace, "You could have told me earlier to save trouble."
Celeste extended her hand to push him, "After the divorce, what plans do you have for me?"
"How do you plan it?"
Celeste laughed, "I plan for myself. I want to leave here. I really like painting and design. Over the years, I’ve traveled to many places, seen many beautiful landscapes, I want to continue my passion. I don’t want to see you anymore. Is that okay?"
Ethan shook his head, "No."
Celeste looked at him steadily, "Then why do you ask? Between us, isn’t it always your decision? Can I escape from your grasp?"
"Celeste," Ethan leaned in to kiss her cheek, "Of those points you mentioned, I can only agree to one, and that is to let you continue painting and designing. I permit the existence of the angel, but you must stay with me. After divorce, move in with me."
Oh, his harem?
In his harem, beautiful ladies abound like clouds, and she’ll be among them. Later, her card will be placed up for him to flip.
Celeste’s eyes were cold, but she smiled, "I don’t have a choice, so it’s my honor."
Ethan knew she was being sarcastic, but he couldn’t help it; he wouldn’t let her go.
"Celeste." His hands started wandering restlessly over her body.
Celeste slapped his hand away, "I still need to go get the divorce certificate later, King Hayden, can’t you wait even for this bit of time?"
Ethan pinched her soft waist, "Fine, I’ll wait. I’ll have plenty of time to play with you once we’re back."
...
Dominic didn’t go to see Flora Thatcher again; Flora lay weak in the hospital bed, tearfully imploring Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds.
"Uncle, Aunt, this time you really have to help me, I went astray only because I loved President Reynolds so much."
"Enough, stop making it sound so noble. I think it’s all because you dreamt of marrying rich to become a lady of leisure," Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds interrupted directly.
Flora didn’t dare say more, so she touched her belly, "I’ll bear the consequences of my mistakes, but the baby is innocent. If I’m jailed, what will happen to the baby? Do you not want this grandchild?"
Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds were immediately swayed. They did want this grandchild; for now, they had to think of a way to protect Flora.
Flora felt a surge of triumph; she knew the Reynolds family wouldn’t abandon her. They’d likely protect her until childbirth, but once the child was born, she’d be inescapably tied to them.
This child was her greatest weapon; she intended to cling onto the Reynolds family as tightly as possible, just wait and see.
Then a "knock, knock" sounded at the door, and a nurse walked in with a bowl of herbal medicine, "Miss Thatcher, your prenatal medicine is ready, you can drink it hot."
"Prenatal medicine? What prenatal medicine?" Flora looked at the dark concoction.
The nurse smiled, "The baby in your belly is mostly alright, but your emotions fluctuated quite intensely, so Mr. Reynolds asked us to prepare a calming prenatal medicine for you, to ensure the baby’s safety."
It turned out Dominic arranged it, Flora immediately accepted the medicine bowl. This Dominic, although he said he didn’t want this child, he still cared deeply after all.
"Ouch," Flora suddenly exclaimed, "This bowl is so hot."
Even if Mrs. Reynolds disliked Flora, she couldn’t deny her for the sake of her grandchild, so she stepped forward to take the bowl, "Here, let me feed you."
