Chapter 309: Military's deal
Chapter 309: Military's deal
Wei Jun, for the next few days, went by his work as usual. He watched adult movies, or more accurately, made someone else watch. He called for the same service girls every night and made them play together in front of Haogua until she finally had enough.
But…
"Stand down, corporal," The scarred woman from the other side ordered Haogua. Haogua tried to argue but the woman said, "Endure it for two more days. Then we'll pull you out."
With that, the call ended. The scarred woman on the other hand was at a loss. Her instincts were telling her that Wei Jun was running out of some sort of time. What it was though, she had no idea. But she was sure of one thing, if they waited just for a few more days, Wei Jun would surely make a move.
Because once he obtained that immunity, there would be no power on earth that would be able to do anything to him. Not one thing. At least not in the empire.
An immunity to murder wasn't something anyone could easily grant. But if it was granted, one by the military, or the emperor at that, then there wouldn't be anything the government, the military, or the police would be able to do anything about him.
The scarred woman wanted to get Wei Jun at just one thing. However, her goal wasn't to punish him or anything. She simply wanted to blackmail him.
'Such a talent doesn't belong in a prison.' While most wanted to kill Wei Jun or confine him to a prison, she knew Wei Jun's true worth. Not only was he a genius when it came to cultivation, but he was also a genius when it came to the other aspects of the military. A perfect soldier, in other words.
"Why in the hell did we have to entertain the CSF…" She cursed those who agreed with the CSF and tried to kill Wei Jun. Had they constructed better relations with Wei Jun, they would have gained power far more than the CSF.
"It doesn't matter," The man standing behind her said.
"It matters," The scarred woman replied. Her colleague didn't share the same view. He believed that if Wei Jun didn't cooperate, he belonged in a prison then. The scarred woman didn't agree. She only had one thing going through her head, "Getting him would grant us power far beyond than you can imagine."
While she was just thinking along the lines, her cell phone rang again. She looked at it and it was Haogua.
"How many times do I have to tell this girl to learn patience?" Saying so, the scarred woman picked up the phone but before she could say anything, she heard a familiar, but not the voice of the person she was expecting, from the other side of the phone, "Can we meet, General?"

[It's not like you to negotiate]
'The situation demands it.' Wei Jun said. According to the novel, the protagonist would finally be meeting with the heroine for the first time tomorrow. Wei Jun needed to thwart that but he had to go on his own because she wasn't listening to the offers he had given her.
The slight problem was that he couldn't do so under such a strict watch. Not to mention, if the military got even the slightest wind of what his real purpose was and how desperate he was, he'd be under threat from the military as well.
With that out of the way, all that was left was to make sure the military wasn't an enemy anymore. Since they were trying to scout him from the beginning, there was also an option to befriend them.
Of course, it wasn't how Wei Jun did things, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
"So, you want to be a freelancer, huh?" The scarred woman asked. Wei Jun nodded. The man beside the scarred woman wasn't very pleased with that proposal but for the moment, he decided to remain quiet.
"I will work for you, not under you." Wei Jun said before he asked, "Don't you want that as well?"
"Haha," The woman chuckled. Her chuckle was clear. Wei Jun was desperate and he was showing it. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't use that." The scarred woman said.
"Because then," Wei Jun said standing up from his seat as he buttoned his jacket, "I will lose what I want but there would be many opportunities for me to gain it back. But for you, once I'm granted immunity, there'd be nothing but a very, very powerful enemy."
By a powerful enemy, Wei Jun of course didn't mean himself. The sect master stood behind Wei Jun and as it turned out, he was quite a force to reckon with as proven by how a commander of the CSF backed off when he could have done anything given the situation.
The scarred woman looked at Wei Jun getting up and even though she didn't show it outwardly, she panicked a little. The letter of immunity was about to be passed and once it was, it was as Wei Jun said. She wouldn't be able to do anything about him.
She sighed, outwardly still calm, she said, "Why don't you sit back down? Even you know you're desperate."
A bluff. But a bluff that worked. It was true that even after Wei Jun was granted immunity, he wouldn't be exempted from every crime. Having the military as an enemy in that situation wouldn't bode well for him in any way.
So, he needed to be cooperative.
"Fine." Wei Jun said as he sat down. The scarred woman nodded and said, "You can call me General Ming. Let's begin with what you have to offer."
Wei Jun simply raised his hand and said, "Five dungeons of your own choosing. Of course, A rank dungeons. Other than that, I will also clear two S rank dungeons. All the spoils would be distributed 50-50."
"…" The other parties remained silent on that offer.
Why? Because what Wei Jun was offering was a little too much. Even a commander wouldn't offer such favorable conditions. Not only was it difficult, but it was also akin to an errand.
"What do you want in return?" General Ming asked. If Wei Jun was offering that much, surely his ask would be substantial as well.
"Full immunity which I'm bound to get and the military's support." Wei Jun simply stated. But, it was anything but simple. Full support of the military meant that Wei Jun wanted the military to cover for him. Cover his various actions.
So far, if Wei Jun was the biker, his actions were anything but simple and if they had to take that as a base example, then the military could very well understand what those various actions would be.
Promising anything here would be substantial. However, what Wei Jun was offering in return was also equal as well. Or maybe more if looked at from some other point. If Wei Jun was to not cause them any trouble, such as a particular trouble called the biker, then what he was asking for and he was offering was a very unfair deal. For Wei Jun that was.
However, since when was life that fair? There was no chance in hell that the military would get a clean, obedient ally in return for such gains. There was surely some unfair point involved.
"Very well," General Ming replied before she handed over a file to Wei Jun. Wei Jun took the file, knowing full well what it was, and opened it. Once he did, he smiled, looking at the General, he said, "You're quite the sly one, General."
"Watch your tone," The man sitting next to General Ming said. Wei Jun ignored him while General Ming tried to placate him.
Still, Wei Jun was happy enough that there was no need to do that. He simply closed the file and said, "So? When do I need to get to work?"
"You're quite the straightforward one, aren't you?" General Ming said before she contacted someone over the phone. After about ten minutes of conversion, she ended the call and said, "You're in luck. There's a dungeon that I'd like you to solve."
General Ming then took Wei Jun's social information and forwarded him some information. Once he checked the information, Wei Jun's expression turned cold.
He looked at the general and asked, "This is not one of your attempts to trap me, is it?"
"If I wanted that, there were many other easier ways." General Ming replied, without minding Wei Jun's behavior which couldn't be said for her partner, and added, "Besides, we will soon make a contract. Even if I want to betray you, I wouldn't be able to. Of course, the same will go for you."
Wei Jun nodded and calmed down. He then followed the generals to the military base where the said contract was to be signed.
