Chapter 986: The First Death
Chapter 986: The First Death
Peak Qi Refinement disciples already ranked among the stronger outer members.
Deaths at this stage were uncommon.
People still held back.
Pride existed.
Fear existed too.
Many surrendered before severe injuries happened.
Han Yu watched quietly.
One fight.
Three fights.
Ten.
Nothing happened.
He kept observing.
The twentieth battle ended with a simple victory.
The twenty first ended in exhaustion.
Then came the twenty second.
Han Yu finally sat straighter.
Ring Twenty Two hosted two Outer Court disciples.
One was young and talented. Peak Qi Refinement and Barely seventeen.
His name flashed on the formation screen: Wei Qingshan.
Han Yu knew him.
The youth had become somewhat famous recently, having joined just two years ago.
He had excellent talent, fast cultivation, and strong sword skills. It was enough that several elders had already noticed him.
His opponent stood opposite him.
Older.
Around thirty.
Still Peak Qi Refinement.
A disciple who had failed promotion repeatedly.
His name was Li Wen.
The battle started evenly.
Li Wen possessed greater experience.
Wei Qingshan possessed better talent.
Sword strikes flashed.
Qi techniques collided.
The audience cheered.
Gradually the balance shifted.
Wei Qingshan began dominating as his sword arts improved continuously during combat. Even the overseeing elder nodded slightly.
"Good."
"He might enter Inner Court soon."
"Perhaps in another twenty to thirty years."
"Solid foundation."
The audience also reacted.
"Senior Brother Wei is amazing!"
"That sword strike!"
"He won!"
The final exchange arrived.
Wei Qingshan’s blade struck Li Wen’s shoulder and the older disciple crashed onto the arena as blood spilled.
His weapon flew away and fell to the ground with a loud clang before silence followed.
The elder overseeing the match raised his hand.
"Winner..."
"Wei Qingshan!"
The arena erupted as cheers sounded. Meanwhile Wei Qingshan breathed heavily while sweat covered his body. Still, his face held excitement as he had won.
’I actually won.’ The man thought in a mix of surprise and pride.
Han Yu watched everything silently.
His soul floated above the defeated Li Wen.
The older disciple lay on the ground breathing heavily while pain, humiliation and anger burned within him.
Han Yu entered his body instantly and there was no resistance for the exhausted body welcomed him effortlessly.
Li Wen’s eyes opened while Wei Qingshan still stood smiling at the crowd.
Then suddenly... The cheering stopped.
Wei Qingshan blinked as everyone’s expressions changed.
Confusion.
Shock.
Fear.
"Huh?"
That was all he managed to say when Li Wen rose and another sword appeared in his hand before it flashed!
PUCHI!
The blade pierced straight through Wei Qingshan’s neck as Blood exploded and Silence descended over the arena.
The youth stared downward, his eyes widened. The sword remained embedded in his throat while the audience froze. Even the elders stared.
Then finally... chaos erupted.
"YOU DARE!?"
The overseeing elder exploded upward.
"STOP HIM!"
"DISCIPLE LI WEN!"
"HE VIOLATED THE RULES!"
Other elders rose too.
The crowd erupted into panic.
Han Yu remained within Li Wen’s body.
He twisted the sword and Wei Qingshan collapsed to his knees.
Blood flowed everywhere.
Han Yu laughed.
A rough bitter laugh.
"Haha!"
"You deserve this!"
"How dare some new upstart act above me!"
"How dare you steal my future!"
The words echoed across the arena.
Then Han Yu moved.
The blade swept sideways.
KACHA!
Wei Qingshan’s head separated entirely.
The crowd screamed as blood sprayed across the ring. Several female disciples cried out as the young genius collapsed dead.
Completely dead.
Han Yu only managed one more laugh when...
BOOM!
An elder’s palm descended!
SPLAT!
Li Wen’s head exploded instantly.
The body collapsed.
Silence.
Utter silence filled the arena.
Everyone stared.
The elder landed.
His expression looked ugly.
Another elder checked Wei Qingshan.
Too late.
Dead.
Truly dead.
The audience no longer cheered.
The joy from moments ago vanished completely.
Meanwhile...
Inside the pavilion...
Han Yu calmly sipped tea.
His expression never changed.
His soul had already returned.
Outside, voices spread rapidly.
"What happened?"
"Li Wen killed him?"
"Why?"
"Was it jealousy?"
"No..."
"That laugh..."
"Something felt wrong..."
The overseeing elders gathered.
Their expressions looked grave.
Tournament deaths happened.
Everyone accepted that.
But this...
This was different.
The match had ended and victory had been declared. But the loser had attacked afterward.
And the look in Li Wen’s eyes before dying... Several elders frowned.
One quietly muttered.
"Investigate his background."
Another nodded.
The assessment continued.
The next battle started.
Yet nobody focused on it.
Whispers spread everywhere.
In the pavilion... Han Yu looked down toward the arena.
His eyes remained calm.
Then...
Very slowly...
A faint smile appeared.
One death.
The sect tolerated that.
Now he would learn.
How many more would they tolerate?
Han Yu did not act again immediately.
The first incident had shaken the arena enough already and he wanted to observe the reaction first.
His body remained seated in the pavilion assigned to Legacy Disciples, a cup of tea resting in his hand while formation screens floated around him. On the outside he looked completely normal. Calm. Reserved. Watching the tournament like any other spectator.
His soul however drifted through the tournament grounds once more.
He observed, waited and studied. The first deaths had caused ripples, but not enough. The Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect was not some righteous sect where a single death stopped everything.
People died here.
Disciples killed each other.
Hatred existed.
Jealousy existed.
Ambition existed.
For the first few incidents, most accepted it.
Han Yu watched several elders discussing in ring twenty six where Wei Qingshan had died. They checked the corpse, investigated the dead disciple, asked questions, then moved on.
The tournament continued.
Han Yu smiled inwardly.
Their tolerance was still high.
He continued watching.
The thirty first battle of another ring caught his attention.
A talented female disciple.
Peak Qi Refinement.
Excellent bloodline talent.
Facing a weaker opponent.
The fight ended exactly as expected, the stronger disciple dominated and victory seemed certain.
But then Han Yu moved. His soul entered the weaker disciple seconds before defeat. The exhausted body barely resisted and the moment control transferred, Han Yu immediately crushed a hidden talisman stored in the disciple’s sleeve.
