Chapter 975: Commendation
Chapter 975: Commendation
Lady Rot Rose sat among the Legacy Disciples section.
Their eyes briefly met.
Her expression remained composed.
But Han Yu noticed the faintest hint of amusement.
He immediately became suspicious.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
Then Patriarch Hong Tianyue spoke.
"Ju Fan."
"Yes Patriarch."
"The mission report you submitted..." the man paused.
Han Yu waited.
"...was interesting."
Han Yu felt danger.
The Patriarch continued.
"Ancient deity."
"World ending threat."
"Hidden race."
"Mass ritual."
"Attempted resurrection."
Han Yu remained silent.
The Patriarch looked at him.
Then unexpectedly asked.
"Did you truly fight all this?"
Han Yu glanced around.
Every elder watched him.
His master too.
Even Lady Rot Rose looked interested.
Han Yu suddenly had a terrible feeling.
Slowly...
Very slowly...
He turned toward Lady Rot Rose.
The woman lowered her eyes politely.
But her shoulders trembled slightly.
Han Yu immediately understood.
She told them.
Not only told them.
She probably told them the dramatic version first.
Traitor.
Absolute traitor.
Inside his mind Han Yu screamed.
Outside...
He remained perfectly calm.
"Yes Patriarch."
Silence followed.
Then unexpectedly...
His master burst into laughter.
One elder after another followed.
Even some Peak Heads smiled.
Han Yu stood there in total disbelief.
Patriarch Hong Tianyue himself actually smiled faintly.
Only then did Han Yu realize.
The atmosphere was serious.
But not because of danger.
Something else was happening.
And he had absolutely no idea what it was.
Han Yu stood within the Grand Hall while the faint traces of laughter slowly faded away.
The atmosphere settled once more.
Patriarch Hong Tianyue looked at him and this time his expression carried obvious approval.
"Ju Fan." The Patriarch spoke calmly. "You have done well."
Han Yu straightened.
"We have spent the last month verifying your report." The Patriarch continued. "Ancient archives were opened. Records were consulted. Several elder historians were involved."
Han Yu listened quietly.
"And from what we have gathered..." the Patriarch paused. "Everything you reported is true."
The hall grew quiet.
Several elders nodded.
"There was indeed a Frost Bat Clan in the ancient era." One elder added. "Their existence predates our sect itself."
Another elder continued.
"And among their worshipped deities was one called the Eternal Smiling Ancestor."
Han Yu was not particularly surprised. He already expected the sect to possess ancient records hidden away. A sect that had existed for hundreds of thousands of years would naturally have preserved history.
Still, hearing it confirmed made things feel different.
The Patriarch folded his hands.
"You have averted a disaster."
His voice was calm but carried weight.
"If this being had truly descended..." his eyes narrowed slightly. "The entire sect would have needed to mobilize."
Even several Peak Heads looked serious hearing that.
One old elder seated further back stroked his beard.
"That existence might have already touched the level of immortality." He muttered.
Han Yu froze.
"Immortal?" He looked at the Patriarch. "Would the sect actually be able to handle something like that?"
The Patriarch unexpectedly laughed.
"It would be difficult."
Han Yu immediately became uneasy.
Difficult?
Only difficult?
But then Patriarch Hong Tianyue looked upward.
"The Bleeding Moon watches all."
That was all he said.
Yet the moment those words left his mouth, every elder in the hall became silent.
No one joked.
No one smiled.
Han Yu understood immediately.
The Bleeding Moon...
There was definitely something behind it.
Something terrifying.
He had long suspected the moon was unusual.
Its Blood Qi.
Its influence.
Its constant presence.
Now he was certain.
The sect possessed some hidden power related to it.
And apparently even immortals were included within its scope.
Han Yu silently stored this information away.
The Patriarch continued.
"Still, that matter is over now." He said. "You were called here today for more than the report."
Han Yu focused again.
The Patriarch looked around the hall.
"Ju Fan completed a mission beyond expectations."
Several elders nodded.
One Mission Department elder even sighed.
"That mission exceeded Legacy Disciple level."
Another elder added.
"For something involving ancient rituals and a hidden deity..." he shook his head. "Multiple elders should have been dispatched."
A Peak Head nodded.
"Possibly several Peak Heads too."
Han Yu glanced at Lady Rot Rose.
The woman looked completely innocent.
Han Yu internally narrowed his eyes.
’You sent me to die.’
Lady Rot Rose smiled politely as if sensing it.
The Patriarch continued.
"Regardless, you completed it. And the sect does not let merit go unrewarded."
Han Yu straightened slightly.
Reward.
Now they were speaking his language.
The Patriarch smiled faintly.
"The normal rewards have already been approved."
"Merit points."
"Wealth."
"Resource allocations."
Han Yu nodded.
Expected.
But then the Patriarch’s expression changed.
"Other than those..."
"We have prepared something special."
Han Yu raised a brow.
The hall also became slightly more attentive.
Even some elders looked interested.
The Patriarch spoke clearly.
"We will grant you one of the first positions to enter the Ancestral Temple."
Han Yu froze.
The hall remained silent.
Even his master looked toward him.
Han Yu slowly raised his head.
"You mean..." his eyes narrowed. "Our Birthright?"
"Indeed." Patriarch Hong Tianyue nodded.
Han Yu truly became surprised now.
The Birthright.
Every disciple knew of it.
Or rather...
Every disciple dreamed of it.
The Ancestral Temple had never been opened since they had obtained it. But even then Han Yu had heard that in the future the chance to enter it was limited and even Legacy Disciples will probably fight over positions.
Han Yu already knew that the place was connected to the founder now.
The tomb.
The resting place of the Slaughtering Moon Ancestor.
But the details remained hidden.
He had never learned much.
The Patriarch continued.
"The tomb contains countless treasures."
"Resources."
"Ancient records."
"Techniques."
He looked toward Han Yu.
"Many techniques already exist within the inheritance stelae." He admitted. "But approval is required."
Han Yu nodded.
He knew this well.
The inheritance stelae acted almost like a living judge.
One needed compatibility.
Talent.
Approval.
Otherwise nothing happened.
"But inside the tomb..." the Patriarch smiled slightly. "The techniques may be taken freely."
