Chapter 956: Ancient History
Chapter 956: Ancient History
The fangs were small and subtle, usually hidden. Nothing like the prominent fangs of the Bat Beast within Smiling Spring, yet undeniably present.
Han Yu felt his thoughts become a tangled mess.
Questions flooded his mind.
Too many.
Far too many.
Madam Cold Fang looked at him again.
"You survived fighting him."
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"How?"
Han Yu blinked.
"My ice technique is stronger."
She paused.
"You cultivate Ice Dao?"
There was genuine surprise in her voice.
The last time they met, she remembered fire.
Strange skills.
Odd techniques.
Now he stood here wielding ice.
"Show me."
Han Yu did not hesitate.
He raised his hand.
Frost gathered.
A snowflake slowly formed above his palm.
Pitch black.
The temperature around it dropped instantly. Darkness drifted within the frost like smoke trapped in ice. Madam Cold Fang’s expression changed as she reached out.
Her finger touched it while blue Frost Qi flowed from her hand.
But the moment it touched the black snowflake... It vanished.
Seeing her Frost Qi disappear completely, Madam Cold Fang went still. And a moment later, her eyes widened.
"Abyssal Frost Qi..."
Han Yu looked up.
"You know it?"
The woman suddenly laughed.
The sound held no amusement.
Only bitterness.
"Know it?"
The air around them instantly became colder.
Snow exploded outward.
"This belonged to MY CLAN!"
Han Yu immediately stepped back.
The mountain trembled beneath them.
Her eyes had changed.
For the first time...
Anger appeared.
Real anger.
"This technique belonged to us!"
"It was stolen!"
"Our people were slaughtered!"
Her voice echoed across the mountain.
Han Yu genuinely froze.
"That’s impossible," he said quickly.
"This is one of the inheritances of the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect."
"Hah!"
Madam Cold Fang laughed again.
"Is that what they told you?"
Her eyes turned distant.
"This technique came from us."
"From the Frost Bats."
"The sect took it."
"And our clan died."
The mountain became silent.
Han Yu did not speak.
He suddenly remembered something.
The Freezing Abyss Glacial Art.
He had obtained it from the Inheritance Stelae. Yet the stelae never explained origins. All he knew was that one of the founding members of the sect had it. It was never told whether it was he who created it or if he found it somewhere.
A minute passed before Madam Cold Fang finally calmed.
The storm around them faded.
"Doesn’t matter anymore," she muttered.
Her gaze returned to him.
"Since you possess it..."
"I may as well make use of you."
Han Yu blinked.
"Me?"
"Yes."
"You will help me."
Her tone left no room for refusal.
Han Yu immediately straightened.
"Yes ma’am!"
Then quickly added.
"But..."
She looked at him.
"At least tell me what is happening."
"What is your brother doing?"
"How does Smiling Spring connect to all this?"
Madam Cold Fang remained silent.
The wind blew between them.
Finally...
She sighed.
"Fine."
She raised her hand.
Icy mist flowed outward.
The frost gathered before them.
Then images slowly appeared within it.
Han Yu watched silently.
The first image formed.
A vast land.
Mountains.
Forests.
Strange settlements.
Beasts walking beside humans.
Beastkin villages.
Flying creatures.
Massive serpents.
Fox clans.
Bat clans.
The world looked ancient.
Older.
Untouched.
Madam Cold Fang began speaking.
"Long ago..."
"Before the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect existed..."
"Before the Blood Continent was isolated..."
"The Violet Eve World belonged to many races."
Her voice became quieter.
"Humans."
"Beasts."
"Beastkin."
"Spirits."
"They all existed."
The image shifted.
A large snowy region appeared.
Han Yu immediately noticed familiar creatures.
Humanoid bats.
White wings.
Blue eyes.
Villages carved into ice mountains.
Children flying through snowy skies.
"Our clan lived here."
"The Frost Bats."
The image changed again.
A young girl appeared.
Black hair.
Blue eyes.
Small fangs.
Beside her stood a boy.
Both smiling.
Han Yu recognized them immediately.
Madam Cold Fang.
And her brother.
The Bat Beast.
"Younger..." Han Yu muttered.
Madam Cold Fang continued.
"We were not strong."
"But we lived peacefully."
The image shifted again.
Then suddenly...
The sky turned red.
Everything changed.
A figure appeared.
Vast.
Terrifying.
Standing above countless corpses.
The world burned behind him.
Blood rivers flowed.
Han Yu felt chills.
Even the illusion alone carried pressure.
Madam Cold Fang’s voice turned cold.
"Then..."
"The Slaughtering Moon Ancestor appeared."
The skies split.
Mountains shattered.
Cities burned.
Han Yu saw armies.
Humans.
Beasts.
Corpses.
Entire clans disappearing.
The Frost Bat settlements burned.
Children died.
Adults fought desperately.
The ancient snowy mountains collapsed.
"Our world ended."
Her voice held no emotion now.
Only emptiness.
"The Beastkin were hunted."
"The beasts enslaved."
"The survivors captured."
"Everything useful was taken."
"Everything else was destroyed."
The image changed once more.
Han Yu saw a massive altar.
Countless Frost Bats chained upon it.
Blood flowed.
Their bodies collapsed.
Techniques.
Runes.
Knowledge.
All extracted.
At the center stood figures wearing robes that looked terrifyingly familiar.
Ancient Blood Sect robes.
Han Yu slowly clenched his fists.
"The Freezing Abyss Glacial Art..." he muttered.
Madam Cold Fang nodded.
"They stole it there."
"Our inheritance."
"Our Dao."
"Our blood."
The images slowly faded.
Snow drifted again across the mountain.
Han Yu remained silent.
Then Madam Cold Fang spoke once more.
"And Smiling Spring..."
Her eyes turned distant.
"It was where our clan died."
Han Yu slowly looked up.
The wind howled across the mountain peak.
"And my brother..."
Her voice lowered.
"He never escaped it."
Han Yu stood silently atop the mountain peak while the last remnants of icy mist drifted away.
The story Madam Cold Fang had shown him still lingered in his mind.
The burning settlements.
The slaughter.
The Frost Bat children hidden away in ice.
The rise of the Slaughtered Moon Divine Blood Sect.
He slowly pieced everything together.
Then suddenly he realized something that made him pause.
His brows furrowed.
"Wait."
Madam Cold Fang looked at him.
Han Yu stared at her.
"If all that happened during the founding period of the Blood Sect..."
His voice slowed.
"That was hundreds of thousands of years ago."
The wind passed between them.
Han Yu looked at her carefully.
"And yet you and your brother are still alive."
