Chapter 935: A Special Token
Chapter 935: A Special Token
A minute later, Master Swamp Leech watched Mistress Love Wine leave with the sorrowful expression of a man whose entire life had lost meaning.
Or at least Han Yu assumed that was his expression.
With Swamp Leech’s face, it was difficult to tell.
Eventually even Daoist Snake Face departed quietly and Swamp Leech tagged along.
That left only Han Yu and Lady Rot Rose within the elegant pavilion.
The atmosphere immediately became calmer.
And heavier.
Han Yu himself had already intended to leave quickly. Staying within another person’s isolated spatial realm for too long was uncomfortable no matter how pleasant the surroundings appeared.
Especially when that person was Lady Rot Rose.
Every second here reminded Han Yu that his life was effectively within her hands if she desired it.
Before he could excuse himself politely though, Lady Rot Rose spoke first.
"Wait a moment."
Han Yu paused.
Lady Rot Rose reached into her sleeve and took out a small token before placing it gently upon the table between them.
Han Yu observed it carefully.
The token was black with faint crimson lines running across its surface like flowing veins. Strange symbols had been carved into its edges and they occasionally flickered with dim light.
It gave off an aura unlike ordinary communication tools.
"This will allow you to contact me directly," Lady Rot Rose said calmly. "And the others as well."
Han Yu picked it up slowly.
The moment his spirit sense touched it, he felt extremely complicated formations hidden within its structure.
His brows rose slightly.
"This is not a Communication Jade Slip."
Lady Rot Rose smiled faintly.
"No."
Han Yu inspected it further before asking curiously, "Then how does it work?"
The answer surprised him.
"The sect’s communication array network was last fully upgraded during my grandfather’s era," Lady Rot Rose explained. "At the time, he embedded a hidden layer within the system that responded only to his personal authorization."
Han Yu’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"And you inherited it."
Lady Rot Rose nodded lightly.
"I simply took over that hidden layer after his ascension."
Han Yu genuinely felt impressed now.
This meant that for all these years...
An invisible communication network had existed beneath the sect’s official one without the current administration even knowing.
Lady Rot Rose continued calmly.
"Even the Intelligence Department cannot detect it. The signals do not move through the standard array routes."
Han Yu looked down at the token again.
That was an enormous advantage.
Communication within isolated areas had always been difficult within the sect due to countless restrictions and defensive arrays. Many regions intentionally blocked ordinary jade slip transmissions.
Yet Lady Rot Rose seemed completely unconcerned about such things.
"It even functions in restricted zones?" Han Yu asked.
"It does," she confirmed.
Han Yu inwardly found himself even more impressed by the former Patriarch now.
No wonder Lady Rot Rose possessed such confidence.
The foundation left behind by the Blood Garden Immortal was terrifyingly deep.
Han Yu stored the token away carefully.
Then Lady Rot Rose leaned back slightly and finally returned to the earlier topic.
"When can you begin the mission?"
Han Yu had already expected the question.
He thought for a moment before answering honestly.
"I need some time first."
Lady Rot Rose waited silently for elaboration.
"I cannot disappear immediately," Han Yu explained. "The Jiangshi contracts are extensive now. Maintenance agreements alone cover a huge portion of the sect. If I vanish without explanation, problems will arise very quickly."
That part was completely true.
At this point his workshops practically functioned nonstop day and night.
If he suddenly disappeared for an unknown amount of time, the resulting chaos would create far too much attention.
Lady Rot Rose nodded slightly.
"That can be handled."
Han Yu looked toward her.
"How?"
"I will issue an official sect mission under my authority."
Han Yu immediately understood.
Within the sect hierarchy, official missions took priority over most private obligations and contracts.
Once such a mission was issued formally, complaints against Han Yu’s temporary absence would hold little weight.
And considering Lady Rot Rose’s influence...
Very few people would dare oppose it openly anyway.
"That would certainly simplify matters," Han Yu admitted.
Lady Rot Rose took another slow puff from her pipe before speaking.
"My people will arrange it soon enough."
Han Yu inclined his head slightly.
"Then I will prepare and depart as quickly as possible."
With that, their discussion finally concluded.
Han Yu soon left the pavilion and exited the isolated spatial realm entirely.
The moment he stepped outside the mansion again and felt the normal flow of the outside world, he quietly relaxed internally.
Even the air felt lighter.
His accompanying disciples were already waiting outside as instructed. Nearby, he also sensed the hidden presence of his modified Jiangshi guards lingering invisibly within shadows and beneath the earth.
Only after confirming everything remained normal did Han Yu finally feel fully at ease.
They soon departed from the abandoned farm and left Good Well Town behind.
Along the way they reunited with Meng Jueyan and the rest of the entourage who had returned earlier than others after the actual gathering.
Han Yu glanced toward Meng Jueyan briefly.
The woman immediately moved closer beside him while the others followed slightly behind.
"How did things go?" Han Yu asked calmly knowing she probably talked to the others already and had a report ready.
"Their attendants mostly kept to themselves," Meng Jueyan replied. "There was conversation, food, and some exchanges of information. Though everyone remained somewhat cautious."
Han Yu nodded slightly.
That matched his expectations.
His faction had not yet fully integrated into Lady Rot Rose’s inner structure.
This gathering had mainly been for him.
Perhaps later things would change.
He then asked the others what they had experienced during their own smaller gathering.
Most of the disciples answered similarly.
The attendants of the other Legacy Disciples had spoken politely enough, but they clearly possessed their own established circles already.
Han Yu was unsurprised.
Trust within the Blood Sect was never built quickly.
Especially among people connected to Legacy Disciples.
