Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 70: Intruder

Chapter 70: Intruder

Sheila walked in and arrived at a massive room where the 3 were being kept.

This place was originally a large warehouse that was used to make paper. However, the factory had been moved to the 2nd quadrant after finding success in the job. There was also a better water source high up, so this place had been emptied for quite a while.

Sheila looked at the 3 that had been sitting in the middle of the open room, with their heads bowed in what she could only call shame. Two of those 3 were men in their early 40s, with the final woman in her late 30s.

All of 3 of the people that had gone to see the mayor’s speech had been suspiciously quiet about it after returning.

When asked what they the others had missed, they wouldn’t speak about it at all or try to dismiss it.

"You three, tell me what happened with the mayor, or I will consider you all colluding with the mayor," Sheila spoke with her altered voice.

"Nothing truly happened, boss."

"Really, nothing happened."

"There was nothing else after that."

The three immediately spoke one after another, making the same excuses they made before as well.

Sheila looked at them closely and nodded. "So it is as I feared," she said. She pulled her dress up a bit and got access to her belt, from which she brought out a small metal object.

She did something and a knife flipped out from within it. Without hesitation, she cut the cheek of one of the men that were clearly lying.

The man fell back in fear and held his cheek as it started bleeding. "B-boss, I’m telling the truth," the man said. "I have nothing else to tell you."

"Is that so?" Sheila asked. "Then why are there people following so many people? Are you saying they didn’t say anything?"

Sheila was pretty certain that something was going on, and these people were somehow being forced to keep their lips tight.

"Speak the truth before I count to three, or else I will kill you all right here," she said. The people around her panicked while the three could only despair.

"One!"

They started begging for forgiveness or even just asking for mercy.

"Two!"

The people around her tried asking her to stop. The 3 people on the ground begged, very much trying to make her understand that there were telling the truth.

However, that didn’t stop the Boss.

"Three!"

The room was silent after she count to three, with the only noise coming from the whimpering group of people in front of her on the floor.

Sheila sighed. "Get up, I lied," she said.

She had been taught before that the only way to possibly break through a mental block, the type that had most likely been put on these people was by bringing out sheer emotions from within them.

It could be any emotion, but she simply chose to use fear. However, either they weren’t scared enough or the power used on them was most likely stronger than what emotions they had.

"Y-you’re not going to kill us?" one of them asked.

"No, I was just trying to make you say what you’re hiding out of fear," Sheila said.

The crowd and the 3 people were relieved when they heard what the boss had said. They were happy that he was just bluffing.

"Aww, are you really not going to kill them?"

Sheila’s eyes widened for a second when she heard that. She looked around momentarily before her head naturally moved toward the ceiling above them.

Sitting on a ledge hanging by the ceiling was a black-haired girl with fully black clothes. The lights in the warehouse barely reached up to the ceiling, but it was enough to show just how young the girl looked.

"Who are you?" Sheila asked in her Boss voice. "How did you get here?"

"Oh? Did you think you were the only one capable of concealing yourself?" the girl asked. "You must be quite proud of yourself, aren’t you?"

Sheila frowned. Even concealed, how could she get into the room, even in the ceiling? Was there a hole at the top that they didn’t know about?

"I can tell you what’s going on," the girl said.

Sheila’s interest was piqued. "What can you tell us?" she asked.

"They’re coming for you," the black-haired girl said.

Sheila frowned a little. "Who are they? The Defenders? The mayor?" she asked.

"The Defenders, under the mayor’s order," Sheila said. "They know exactly where you are. Not only this warehouse, but they also know the house of many of your members."

The crowd freaked out when they heard that. "They know about us?"

"Boss, this is bad."

"We need to leave."

Sheila looked at the girl. "How do you know that?" she asked. "Who exactly are you?"

"Shouldn’t you be thanking me for bringing this information to you?" the girl asked.

"Thank you, but I don’t believe there is anyone out there that will do something without an ulterior motive," Sheila said.

"Hmm... you’re not wrong," the girl said. "I do want something. In fact, I had thought of waiting for it to come to me on its own, but I might get it now that I’m here."

Sheila couldn’t understand what this girl was talking about.

"So, let me just finish what you started," the girl said. The very next second, she vanished.

Sheila’s eyes searched for movements amongst the crowd, and as she did, she saw the girl appear behind the three people that were on the ground.

The girl swung her empty hand, through which a dark blade formed on its own and cut through the necks of the three there.

People screamed and panicked the moment they saw what had happened.

Sheila, however, did neither. The others felt fear seeing the 3 people get killed, while all she felt was terror because of something else.

’Concealment, teleportation, and a blade,’ Sheila thought. ’3 different powers. It can’t be...’

There was no doubt about it in Sheila’s mind.

The girl that had just appeared and killed the 3 people in front of her was most definitely a Nova.
