Chapter 320: Fight Beyond the Door
Chapter 320: Fight Beyond the Door
"We can’t wait for ice to melt," Sheila said. "We need to break through it quickly."
"They won’t shoot at us from the other side, right?" one of the men asked.
"They will have the same issue as us. The ice is so thick that the plasma bullets will lose all of their power and heat," she said.
"But it will help melt the ice, right?" Stanley asked.
"If it’s just melting ice, I think a thermite bomb would be great," Sheila said, turning toward Stella. "Can you make one?"
"Me?" Stella asked.
"Yes."
"I... don’t know what a thermite bomb is," Stella said. "I can only create that which I know."
"Uhh... then what do we do?" Sheila asked.
"Wouldn’t salt work?" Stella asked. "Salt can—"
"Just make a metal ball," Stanley said. "I’ll break through that ice in no time."
The four turned to look at Stanley. "Right, I don’t know what we were thinking," Sheila said. "Let’s get this done with."
Stanley walked over with a bunch of small metal balls and hid behind the wall next to the hallway. He looked inside and saw people scattering inside, seemingly trying to do something but unable to. The metal door turning into ice was not something they had expected to happen at all.
Stanley took a deep breath and launched the first metal ball as hard as he could. The angle of his throw was a little off course, so it hit the side of the hallway first.
But because it was at a high enough angle, the ball didn’t lose much momentum and ended up hiding on the side of the ice. Immediately, the ice block had cracks in it, no longer clear.
"It works," Stanley said softly and threw another one.
This one only hit the ground once and hit the ice to the right. The ice door cracked even more. The fractures and light scatter within the ice made it hard for him to determine what was going on inside at all.
Stanley then threw another and another. The metal balls hit the thick ice, sending back a loud booming sound each time, but they did not break. They did cause more and more fractures to form within the ice.
Then he threw it a fifth time and suddenly sensed a future where something dangerous came his way. He moved to the side immediately, getting as far away as he could from the hallway.
A loud explosion shook the entire ship, sending back a shockwave that Stanley felt deep within his core. He slowly got back up, looking back at what had happened.
Chunks of ice, water, and smoke mixed with the blood and corpses they had left behind. He looked at the other side where the other people were hiding and was relieved to notice the lack of damage.
He turned back around toward the hallway, moving to see what was up. As soon as he appeared next to the hallway, he immediately ducked as a bullet flew through right where his head was a moment ago.
It hit the wall on the other side, and Stanley quickly rushed to check if anyone was okay. They had all moved way further away this time, so no one was hurt.
"Stay there! I will call you once I’m done," Stanley said, rushing back into the fight. He held his sword tight and moved toward the hallway through which the bullets flew at unseen angles. The hallway itself was full of smoke and steam, so Stanley couldn’t see what was on the other side.
He took a moment for himself, drew in a deep breath, and knew what he had to do. He prepared himself for it and ran into the hallway headfirst.
The bullets flew toward him, but he knew where he had to go to dodge them. He ran to the left, jumped to the right, ducked, turned, spun. Whatever he needed to do, he did it to survive.
And then, he walked directly into the room and saw two men holding large guns that shot those ridiculously strong bullets. They both saw him too and attacked.
"Die!"
Stanley moved toward the one on the right, dodging the attack by mere inches as he cut through not just the gun, but also the man. He turned back around and cut the man that was about to attack as well, only to have his sword slip through his hand and float around aimlessly in the space.
Stanley was shocked for a moment as he tried to grab his sword again, only to have it phase through his hand once again. Whatever the man’s power was, it made his sword untouchable.
"Got you, bitch!" the man shouted, the gun pointed right at Stanley’s forehead. The man pulled his trigger and at the same time, Stanley grabbed the gun.
"Huh?" the man was confused. He tried to pull the trigger again and again, but it didn’t work.
Stanley breathed a sigh of relief, standing up straight while holding the gun. He pulled the gun, snatching it off the man’s arm, and simply spun it around to face the man.
Then he deactivated his Time Stop skill he had used to stop time for just the gun at the last moment.
Because the man had already pulled the trigger, the bullet was already coming out of the gun.
It shot through the man’s chest, leaving behind a gaping hole. Stanley took a deep breath, letting go of the gun to the side. He looked around the room and saw that this room was also not the final one. There was one more room beyond here.
He reached for the door and felt no danger so he opened it. When he did, he arrived in a room full of towering metal boxes with wires and glowing lights coming through them.
He was confused as to what it was at first, but then the words from before helped him understand.
The Server Room.
He had finally arrived at the server room.
