Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 315: Chaos on the Ship

Chapter 315: Chaos on the Ship

"What... the hell?" Stanley couldn’t help but ask as he saw the blaring red lights all around, the sirens going off in all directions, and the people who were all focused on their own thing.

Barely a few managed to notice him come out of the carrier, and without hesitation, they brought out their guns and began shooting at him.

Stanley couldn’t sense the danger that he could see coming. That was one of the downsides of not having an active future sight. So, all he could do was dodge the plasma bullets as he arrived close to the men who shot at him.

He could see the flickering shield on their body, but that mattered little to him. He swung down his blade, which grew close to a ton in weight at once. Once it was on a downward trajectory, Stanley didn’t need to worry about its weight.

The sword cut through the shield and the man, immediately cleaving through them all. A few of the remaining ones who saw him ran, and Stanley quickly dispatched those who were remaining.

Their puny powers did little to stop him.

Stelle peeked out of the carrier. "Is it fine to come out?" she asked.

"Yes," Stanley said, bringing over a small metal dial. "Wear it on your body."

Stella looked at it, confused. "What is this?" she asked.

"You don’t know what a shield is?" he asked.

Stella shook her head. "Must not be from my time," she said. In a way, she had time-traveled to the future with a mind from the past.

Stanley nodded. Plasmium itself had only been discovered about 90 years ago, and that too had been kept in secret for some time before it was put to commercial use.

Shields probably weren’t as regular as they were now.

He helped her shield up and he shielded himself. He didn’t have to hide himself from the bullets as they wouldn’t kill him, but they did still hurt like hell.

He would rather not have to be pelleted by them all the time.

"What is going on? What is all that siren?" Stella asked after Stanley helped her down.

"I don’t know," Stanley said. "Something is happening."

He looked toward the door through which everyone had run out and quickly made out himself. He came across a long metal hallway, almost all of it blocked in multiple locations with thick shields.

"We will have to cut through it," Stanley said as he began to smash down the shields one after another.

"I feel like we shouldn’t be here," Stella said. "It feels wrong like we came in the middle of a natural disaster."

Stanley nodded. He wondered if the reason they had been able to sneak through was because of that as well. ’Whoever is in charge of looking over us is so busy that they missed when we escaped,’ he thought. The carriers had to be moved through AI if that was the case.

He quickly smashed through another shield.

The sword was amazing in terms of how effective it was to destroy the shields. Because he could swing it while it was at its lightest and then keep the speed while increasing its weight, he could effectively improve the momentum of his attack by thousands of times, making it an incredibly effective tool.

Although, he did come to understand that it was only the momentum that changed. The sword’s true weight did not change at all. Even if he made it a ton in weight and let go, it would still float in the air, weightless.

He could make it heavy while holding onto it, and the metal beneath him wouldn’t cave in, although he would buckle as the weight would affect him.

It was a weird sword, very far from reality. But then, Stella had explained that the sword was something that could not exist in reality.

It made sense by not making sense.

He smashed through another shield and finally arrived at the section of the hallway where there were no shields. The technology was there, but it had been shut down.

Stanley quickly ran up ahead, Stella following behind him, staying just far enough away that if something attacked, she could be out of the danger zone.

Stanley turned, hearing footsteps coming toward him from the side. Two men arrived, wearing black uniforms with guns in their hands. Stanley’s eyes widened at the sight. "Why are you—"

The moment they saw Stanley, they immediately began shooting.

The bullets sprayed onto the shield, landing on it, but not passing through it. Even though their guns were supposed to be state-of-the-art in terms of anti-shield technology, the shield still blocked the bullets.

"Stop!" Stanley shouted. "I’m on your side."

The men didn’t listen. One of them immediately rushed toward him and clapped his knuckles together to create a deafening sound. The sound didn’t just assault Stanley’s ears, but also made fluctuations on the shield, making it flicker unpredictably.

The other of the two men began shooting, and a few bullets went through the shield, hitting Stanley in the chest.

The bullets felt to him what a regular person would feel when hit with a rubberband right next to their skin. It didn’t wound, but it hurt like hell.

"Damn you guys!" Stanley shouted, immediately rushing forward. The man didn’t even get to react as Stanley slammed onto him, sending him crashing forward through the ground.

The other man looked at Stanley in surprise and tried to shoot him, but Stanley’s sword reached him first, smacking the gun off his hand. He had made the sword dull.

The man felt his hand go numb with pain and tried to reach for the other gun in his belt. Stanley quickly jumped onto him, sending him down onto the ground, and stopping him from making any more moves.

"Damn you, I’m not your enemy," Stanley said.

He suddenly sensed danger and put his sword up, stopping another bullet from hitting him. But when he looked at who shot him, there was no one there at all.

And then he heard a voice.

"Stanley?"
