Chapter 293: Fireball
Chapter 293: Fireball
Stanley frowned. "You don’t want to escape when you have the chance?" he asked.
"We’re winning this," Red said. "I’m not interested in running away. If you’re not going to help me, then leave."
The old woman crossed her arms and looked at both Red and Rey, not knowing what to say at all. She was in disbelief. She hadn’t expected the two to prioritize victory over survival, but then, they weren’t exactly brought here against their will like her and Stanley.
"Aren’t we going to the carrier either way?" Rey asked. "Let us not bring division among ourselves until then. We should work together."
Stanley reluctantly nodded. "Alright, let’s go grab whatever is at the carrier," he said. "It should be important enough if this is the last one."
The old woman didn’t want to go but was forced to. If she was to get on that carrier, unless she could teleport, she had to leave.
"We truly couldn’t think of doing anything better than putting ourselves in the middle of everything in the end," the old woman said and left the forest to walk out into the grassland.
The grassland, either by design or just due to people walking around a lot had a lot smaller grasses that didn’t go past the ankles.
That helped them see a lot of the stacks of stones that were all around them.
Suddenly, a ball of fire flew through the air, coming in their direction from the side. Stanley had time slowed down by a small degree so he managed to see it coming in time.
He simply moved away from the line of attack and let the ball of fire fly past him. But that wasn’t the only fire coming in his way.
At the edge of the forest, he saw a man with two flaming hands that punched in their direction, which threw out the fireball.
After the first one, everyone managed to see it and were ready for the fireball.
They waited and dodged the attacks, learning very quickly that while the fireballs were potentially dangerous, the man using them wasn’t very accurate with them.
With nearly 100 meters of distance between him and them, he could not send a single ball of fire that came near to hitting one of them.
Just as Stanley was beginning to think the fireballs were not much of a threat, he saw the future.
"Get down!" he shouted and grabbed the old woman, pulling her onto the ground next to him.
At the next moment. One of the fireballs that was nowhere near close to hitting them ended up flying directly onto one of the stone stacks, causing a large explosion.
The explosion was so close that had they not heeded Stanley’s warning in time, they would’ve—
"AAAHH!" Red screeched at the top of her lungs, causing everyone to turn around. A part of the explosion had managed to hit her right leg, blowing most of it off, leaving a dangling piece of meat at the end that couldn’t even be called a leg.
Red’s screams were so horrible that Stanley wasn’t surprised she hadn’t immediately fainted.
He stood up, time slowed down to the fullest, and arrived next to her. He put his hands on her body and immediately used his technique to turn back time on her body.
Because time was slowed down, his technique’s speed also improved at the same rate. Meaning, that Red’s leg took no more than 2 seconds worth of time in slowed time to come back.
Stanley himself was surprised by how quickly her leg had come back, even when time was slowed down. One moment, there were only dangling bits of meat, and the next moment, an entire leg grew out of nowhere.
Stanley felt some of the energy inside of him leave to recreate this leg.
Time flowed back to normal.
Red was still screaming. The pain in her leg, even though it was healed, still remained.
"Shut up and get up," Stanley shouted, pulling her on her feet.
Red’s scream didn’t stop, but she did see that she was on her feet, her leg having no wound at all.
Stanley helped the other two get on their feet. By the time they were all up, Rey and the old woman were already wondering what Red was crying about.
They hadn’t even noticed that her leg had been blown off and then healed.
Staley turned around, leaning back to dodge a fireball that was coming right for him. When it passed, he looked around for something to throw back at the person.
Only, the grassland had no stone at all. The stacks had been made using pebbles that were brought here from somewhere else. He couldn’t use them.
He needed to use something still, something that was solid and strong and he could use right away, like a branch from a tree, something that...
Stanley looked down at his left hand, the hand that was completely dead with absolutely no use at all. Could it work?
He kneeled down on top of the dead hand and began ripping off his own finger. He did the little finger first since he wasn’t sure if what he was doing was right.
Once it was ripped off, he turned back time on his hand.
As Stanley watched, the finger regrew in a split second surprising him.
’It works,’ he thought. ’It really works!’
Reversing Time was not supposed to work on him at all. But perhaps since his dead arm was no longer considered a part of him, he could destroy it as much as he wanted and it would grow back.
What would happen if he turned back time to the point where his arm wasn’t dead?
’No distractions,’ Stanley thought. He had a battle to fight ahead.
Stanley grabbed his fingers again and began ripping them off one by one. Once all 5 were ripped off, he put them to the side and healed his hand quickly, regrowing the fingers once again.
Once he was done, he had 6 things to throw at people far away and more of where that came from.
