Strongest Nova: Path of Vengeance

Chapter 228: Weapons Buying

Chapter 228: Weapons Buying

Nearly two weeks had passed since the new Blue Oasis took down the 3 other gangs and incorporated most of their people into their own gang.

Now, the Blue Oasis was the unofficial owner of the entirety of the Low, with their 4 smaller gangs under them taking charge of all four corners of their side of the city.

With the lack of threat from other gangs now, the Blue Oasis’s influence on the Low improved at such a high rate that even the rest of the city came to know about the gang.

However, no one truly knew much about the Blue Oasis other than that the actual Blue Oasis consisted of no more than half a dozen different people.

Their infamy was growing through the city and was even reaching the ears of the underworld outside of it.

Stanley currently stood next to Nova with Fred on the other side. Sol was behind the three as they all together stood in an abandoned warehouse, meeting a group of people in a bunch of suits.

"Pleasure to meet you, Blue Oasis," one of the men said. "Are you the leader? Mind showing us your face?"

Nova, as always, wore a large black hoodie of her head that covered most of her face and was thus not easy to see. Given that she was shorter than most people, it also made it hard for most to see past her hoodie when they were close to each other.

"My face?" Nova asked. "Do you need my face for me to buy your weapons or my money? I’m willing to show my face if that means I get the ammunition for free."

"Tsk! That is not happening," the man said and gestured for someone to come forward with a large suitcase.

"I don’t know why the hell you would want something like this, but here it is," the man said, pulling out something from inside. "Here it is."

It was a large blaster-type weapon with no hole at all. Stanley couldn’t help but wonder where it was that they were supposed to be shooting from.

"Want a demonstration?" he asked.

"Sure," Nova said and nodded to the side. "Use it on him."

Stanley looked to see who she was referring to and found out that it was him. "What?" he asked with a soft voice. "Why me?"

"Don’t worry," Nova said. "It’s not going to hurt you. Also, you are strong enough that I can use you to test some stuff."

Stanley didn’t say anything for a moment. He simply activated his future sight and turned toward the man who stood in front of him. "Go on," he said. "Shoot it at me."

He was curious what it was that he was being shot with. If it wasn’t supposed to hurt, then why even use it?

As he wondered, the man at the front pointed at him and shot the gun.

Stanley slowed down time to see what was going to come out of the gun. At first, he was expecting something to do with plasma, so when he saw the entire front metal place of the gun fly out, he was confused.

As it moved at a rather quick speed, it started glowing red, and as few things shot out from around the metal plate. As it flew, the place expanded to become a large shield from the looks of it.

However, it didn’t take long for Stanley to realize that it was a net.

From the metal plate, where the plasmium was most likely hidden, metallic strings flew out, within which the shields were created. Those shields rapped around Stanley, forming a large net.

He let the net fall on top of him and watched as it grabbed onto him, the metal wires snugging his body.

He didn’t feel the heat from the shield. It was just a normal flickering shield that he had touched many times before.

Once he knew that it was safe, he let time flow back to normal and it did.

The grappling projectile barely made him lose his balance as it covered him entirely. He stood there, somewhat compressed by the net. He looked to the side and saw Nova looking at him with thoughts in her head.

He was bemused by the situation and took her time looking around as she could tell that Stanely had no problems being in there.

"Can you hear me in there?" she asked him.

"Perfectly," Stanley said. "Although with the shields this close to me, there is a constant buzzing sound."

"What about pain?" she asked him.

"None for me, but a regular person should feel like he’s being punched by a big dude," he said.

"That’s fine with me," Nova said. "And what about escaping? Can you break through?"

"Uhh..." Stanley didn’t know. He looked around in a confused look and shrugged. "Maybe. I’ll have to try. Is it okay if I break it?"

"Yeah, do your best," she said.

Stanley nodded and pushed. He didn’t slow down time as he was only going to be testing his own strength.

He pushed.

He pushed as hard as he could. He pushed the metal plate, he pushed the wires, he pushed the shield.

However, no matter how hard he pushed, the nets didn’t go away from him. All that happened was that he simply made the net stretch.

He stopped pushing and tried attacking. Moving his arms around was difficult, but he still punched.

The metal plate was on the outside of the shield, so no matter how hard he punched at it, the attack still fell on his shield.

And the shield was strong enough that his attacks couldn’t destroy it.

Stanley then paused and slowed down the time to test. When the time was slowed down by over 60 times now, he could see the shield flash in front of him at a rather slow speed.

At this sort of speed, he could reach out of the shield and tear off the plate if he wanted to.

But since he didn’t, he let time flow back to normal and looked toward Nova. "Nope, can’t do it," he said.

Nova smiled. "Not bad," she said, turning toward the sellers. "That’s quite the good stuff. Exactly what I wanted."

"Haha, happy to be of service," the man said.

"Is this reusable or...?"

"It’s reusable, but you need to replace the plasmium once every few use, or each time depending on how long you use the item," the man said.

"I see," Nova said. "I’ll take 1 shooter and 3 of these dials."

"Haha, good choice," the man said and turned toward Stanley. "I’m going to take that off, so I’ll come close."

"No need," Nova said, simply moving her fingers toward him. The many metal wires that expanded around him were opened wide by Nova as she tossed the entire thing back at the man.

The man watched in shock as the metal plate fell to the ground in front of him. He was surprised at Nova’s powers and quickly turned off the plate.

"Give me different ones. I don’t want that one," she said.

"Sure," the man said and showed the shooter three different of the same looking metal plate."

Nova looked at the item with a pleased expression and nodded. "I will take it."

They left the warehouse sometime later and went into the busy city. The city they were in was not the Fourex city but the Gargarnox city.

"Shall we leave then?" Nova asked the three.

"Let’s hurry up. I can’t wait to go back and see my girl," Fred said with a happy smile.

"How’s your girl?" Sol asked. "You guys done it yet?"

Fred coughed a little. "No, not yet," he said. "But... we did kiss the other night and that was amazing. She doesn’t want to take things quickly, so I respect her opinion."

"I bet she’s only with you because you’re part of our group," Nova said with a chuckle.

"Of course she is," Fred said. "She said so when she first met me. That she was fascinated by our gang and wanted to be a member. I told her the only way to become one would be to become my girlfriend."

"Gross!" Nova commented.

"What? Why is that gross?" Fred demanded back.

As the two talked, Stanley looked around the place. As he was walking, he noticed something toward the corner of the street.

"Do we have to return right now?" he asked. "Do you mind if I visit that place for a bit?"

"Visit what place?" Nova asked, turning around to look at what he was pointing at. When she finally did see, she couldn’t help but frown.

She turned around and looked at his head. "Uhh... yeah, you should go to one," she said. "Your hair is getting a lot longer. If you don’t want to grow it out, you should get it cut."

Stanley nodded.

"But can’t you get it cut back in the Low?" Nova asked.

"Yes, but..." he looked around. "This is the first time I’ve been to this city, so I kind of want to visit it in its entirety. Or at least part of it."

"Uhhh... sure," Nova didn’t mind that. "But how will you get back? Surely you don’t intend to use a train, do you?"

"No," Stanley said. That would be bad as it had only been half a month since his fight against those small gangsters a few hours away from here. They would still be looking for him in any other places.

Nova thought for a bit and nodded. "Fine, I’ll stay with you," she said. "The two of you should go back before us."
