Chapter 215: Attacked
Chapter 215: Attacked
Stanley stabbed himself in the chest with his sword in his dream and suddenly found himself awakened with pain in his chest that came out of nowhere.
He looked at his chest and saw a knife dug into it, albeit not very deep. He looked up and saw the surprised eyes of someone staring directly at him.
It took Stanley a moment to understand that he was being stabbed for real and this wasn’t the dream that he had been seeing.
He punched at the person with a force that only he could produce. However, before the punch landed, the person let go of something on their arm and Stanley’s entire arm went through the face, not touching her in the least.
Stanley stumbled, his right arm that had strained just half a day ago pained as the force he threw out landed nowhere.
He quickly stumbled out of bed, a pain in his shoulder and one in his chest. He felt his chest and realized the knife had landed on his ribcage, which was why it hadn’t hurt him that much.
He then finally looked at the person who was gone from his vision. He quickly checked around his location while looking at the guitar case in the corner.
Then, he saw a future where he was stabbed in the head from the back. He waited for a moment and quickly dodged before punching back at the person.
When he did, he found his left arm going directly through their skull. Again.
Stanley was confused and quickly stepped back to look at the person. Now that he was looking carefully, he could see that it was a girl.
"Who are you?" Stanley asked. "Another gang member?"
"Gang member?" the girl looked at him weirdly. She stared at him long enough to piece together that he was a member of a gang, and that she had been given a rather difficult task.
’Flashback said that there was a small guy with a gun, is this him?’ she wondered, looking at Stanley’s features. ’I’ll need to be careful.’
Then, she dashed forward.
Stanley saw her come and then saw her come again. She slashed her long dagger across his face, and it went right through him.
He tried to grab them when that moment came and as he had expected, his arms went through her.
"Hah! Did you think I was going to let you touch me?" the girl said, secretly frowning at the fact that Stanley hadn’t fallen for the trick earlier. ’Does he know?’
She didn’t believe he knew. There was possibly no one alive aside from her peers that knew about her powers. Even then, they knew not how her powers worked exactly.
Stanley felt a little weird with everything happening. He had just seen a dream where he had stabbed himself in the chest and yet he was stabbed in the chest in real life as well.
And then he had just seen his brother and yet the girl in front of him had the same power as his.
’No, it’s just similar,’ he thought to himself. In the first place, the metals the girl grabbed were phasing through him as well. His brother could never phase metals.
Second, she was phasing around with seemingly no limitations at all. His brother had to go cross-eyed or close his eyes and interlock his fingers to phase through stuff.
’But he could also phase others. Can she?’ he thought. He needed to figure out how she was using her technique first. Once he figured that out, he could deal with her.
The girl came for him again, and Stanley quickly grabbed the guitar case that was behind him and slammed the girl with it.
But as he had imagined, the girl went through the case, and him, going into the wall. She was nowhere to be seen after that.
Stanley looked around for a moment before bringing out his sword and running out of the door. Only then he even thought to think that there might have been others.
"Guys!" he shouted. "There are—"
The girl came out from the side and stabbed him in the head. This time, it was a real attack.
Stanley turned around and swung his sword at the same time.
The girl who had just come out panicked a little as she didn’t expect an attack to be coming her way. She tried to let go of the metal ball in her hand, but it was too late.
Stanley’s sword was already at her throat.
The sword landed on her throat and immediately it lost all momentum, slipping through his arm as it fell to the ground.
Stanley wasn’t sure what had happened, but he tried to punch her again. However, at this point, his fist went through her body.
The girl held a look of fear and dread and quickly walked through the wall. Had Stanley not used his sword any anything else, she would’ve been dead.
Stanley got down and grabbed his sword, or he tried to, but his hand went through the entire sword.
"What?" he looked at the sword. He tried a few more times, only to get the same result. He frowned a bit. What was going on? Why is his sword passing through his arm?
In the first place, why did it lose all momentum and fell out of his hand? Was it because it came in contact with the girl while she was phasing?
But then... wasn’t she not phasing at that moment? That was what he saw in the vision, did he not?
Then...
"She must’ve fulfilled a condition," he thought. His sword was lost the moment it touched her, so the condition was most likely when it touched her. There was no way she was fast enough to activate her powers on her own.
He remembered the dagger in her hands and the metal ball in her other hand.
"Metal... it must be when she comes in contact with the metal," he thought. It wasn’t a complete explanation, but he was getting somewhere.
