Chapter 109: Frustrated
Chapter 109: Frustrated
Kyle rushed toward her house. He couldn’t hear much, but the way she had been weeping on the call was enough to make him panic.
He has barely heard her cry like this...as if something was broken, like she was hurt.
The last time he heard her like this was when she came to his house to see him. And that’s exactly what made his heart heavy and feet hurried.
"Trying to marry her off to someone else..." he repeated, a growl slipping from his throat.
What was going through their mind? In this modern era, who marries off their daughter when she is only twenty one? And why were they forcing her like this? As far as Kyle knew, they were very understanding and always considered her feelings first.
Then what suddenly changed...
The Maylith mansion was quite far, yet in his current state, the thought of taking a taxi or train never even crossed his mind.
His feet carried him forward, closing the distance.
He had never met Amanda’s family. Why? Because he knew it would only complicate things. Blake had warned him about it.
The Maylith family held a prominent name in the industrial world. If word had reached them that the second son of the Astortia family was dating their daughter, things could never have remained as casual and simple as Kyle had wanted.
He didn’t want to force Amanda into a relationship when they had been dating for just two years. And then recently, they had a rough phase too.
His own family would have found out as well and tried to force an engagement. Every traditional clan still believed that dating had no place. If two young people from prominent clans liked each other, then it was best for them to be engaged.
"Who would’ve thought keeping it hidden would lead to something like this..." he muttered, clicking his tongue as he turned the corner and finally reached the massive mansion where she lived.
There were guards at the door. Kyle didn’t bother approaching them and instead took a left just before the mansion, slipping into an alley.
He knew entering through the front would be difficult. Even if he managed it, he would have to deal with unnecessary complications. Right now, his priority was Amanda. He needed to be with her.
Reaching the tall boundary wall, he glanced around and said, ’Scan the area for people and cameras using God’s Eye.’
It had been a while since he had entered Amanda’s room like this. He needed to stay alert.
The system scanned the surroundings and responded,
[There is one camera directly opposite the wall, host. Move to your left, then jump over.]
Kyle nodded and followed the instructions.
Taking a short run-up, he leapt upward, braced his knee against the wall, and grabbed the ledge before pulling himself up with ease.
In the past, it would have been difficult. Not anymore.
He landed softly on the grass and scanned the area. No one was there.
Keeping God’s Eye active, he instructed the system to alert him if anyone approached.
Moving in silence, he made his way toward the window of her room, then reached up and grabbed the ledge of the ground-floor window.
Climbing up, he used the bricks jutting out of the wall. They were part of the design, but now served as a ladder.
It didn’t take much effort for him to reach the ledge of her floor and pull himself up.
"Haa..." he exhaled, peering into the room. The curtains were drawn, leaving it dim and shadowed.
[Host, someone is approaching this side. Hurry.]
Kyle followed the warning and knocked twice on the window.
A brief pause followed, then the sound of footsteps from inside.
Click
The window slid open, and Kyle froze.
In the darkness stood Amanda, her hair disheveled, eyes red, her body barely covered by her undergarments.
His lips parted to speak, but before he could, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms tightly around him.
Kyle stiffened for a moment, then returned the embrace, his voice soft. "I’m here. Everything will be fine."
Her shoulders trembled as she let out a faint hum.
After a few moments, she pulled him inside, her hand gripping his sleeve as if he might disappear the second she let go.
Kyle stepped into the room and noticed the torn fabric scattered nearby. She had clearly ripped apart what she had been wearing in a fit of anger.
Gently, he guided her to the bed and sat her down.
As he moved to sit beside her, Amanda shifted onto his lap, wrapping her arms around him and pressing herself close.
His warmth, his presence, that was all she needed.
In a soft whisper, he asked, "Do you want to talk about it?"
Amanda groaned in response, clearly unwilling.
He sighed and began to rub her back slowly, her skin cold beneath his touch.
"Alright then, let’s talk about something else... ah, isn’t that the plush you snatched from me?" His gaze fell on the dolphin plush she had taken from him months ago.
Her reason had been simple: Nothing gets to cling to Kyle more than me.
"To think you kept it safe all this time," he said with a faint smile.
"I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away... you liked it," she replied, her voice low and faintly complaining.
Kyle chuckled, "Glad to hear that you kept it safe. I can bring it back home and snuggle with it every night."
Amanda groaned louder, punching his chest lightly in protest, "I am already like this and you say such things. Bad Kyle...I am upset."
He leaned forward and kissed her pouty lips, taking her by surprise.
"Okay then, I am listening. What exactly caused you so much grief and anger?" He knew until Amanda didn’t let it out she would continue to feel like this. So, now that he was here, he wanted her to release that feeling.
Amanda looked down, her shoulders visibly tensing before she informed him, "Father brought a few people, his friend and working partner home with his family...his son is about my age and..."
She didn’t continue. Kyle understood things from there on.
He wouldn’t lie, he felt frustrated hearing that her parents thought of marrying her to someone else. But he thought things rationally.
"Amanda...ever since we got together we kept things vague from your family. And recently, they must have heard that you broke things off with me so they assumed this could be a chance for you to move on."
Her grip on his shirt tightened as she complained, "Shouldn’t he at least have talked to me about it first?"
Kyle nodded, "They should have. It’s wrong to suddenly push you in that corner-"
His words froze as her lips met his.
And not just that, she pushed him on the bed and their lips locked in a much fiercer kiss than before.
He held her shoulder and between kisses asked her, "Amanda?"
She took his hand and brought it to her breast before whispering, "Kyle...please...I want you."
