Chapter 107: Emergency

Chapter 107: Emergency

"Ah...I feel tired." Kyke groaned as he sat on the ground, massaging his arm which was finally fre from that painful ornament.

Blake extended a chocolate bar and an energy drink to the younger one as he asked, "Do you feel numbness?"

Kyle shook his head, "My muscles are traumatized a little but it’s nothing concerning." He unwrapped the protein bar which had some sugar in it to help replenish the lost energy.

He was exhausted. His shoulders felt heavy and overall arms had soreness. Other than that, his legs were a little shaky and there was a breathiness as if he had climbed a great height.

[That’s the sensation of someone who has spent quite an amount of Genesis, host.]

Oh. This was the first time he has experienced Genesis exhaustion. Not that bad.

[Host, you have done a brilliant job just now. You were able to synchronise with Aquilla much better this time, and your Genesis grew sharper with every aim. At the moment, your efficiency with Genesis itself has grown significantly.]

Stats:

Strength: 14

Speed: 15-> 15.5

Endurance: 19

Intelligence: 9-> 10

Affinity: 7%-> 15%]

[Skills: God’s Eye (Lvl 1)]

[Items: Aquilla of Archilles

Red Elixir: 1]

[Soul Points: 6021]

Damn, a whopping eight percent increment.

He glanced at his elder brother. Despite not having much information about his powers and Kyle’s anomalous magic system, he was able to discern the problem and gave him quite an effective method to improve.

"Well, you now understand something crucial. And that is; the more you use your powers, the better you will become." Blake said once he finished drinking.

Kyle hummed in understanding, "Thanks for the advice."

Blake coughed. Not very used to Kyle’s kind words. Then, in a quieter voice, he said, "Just keep working. You have chosen a tough path by trying to keep your identity hidden. So it’s better you remain prepared for the consequences."

Kyle nodded, rising to his feet, "I know. Don’t worry, won’t ask for your help...frequently." he winked near the end before tossing the bottle into the bin and stretching his arms.

He was too tired to to do anymore training so Kyle said, "I will go back now."

Blake nodded, not moving from his spot.

Kyle thought the man must be wanting some training done so he didn’t linger for long and walked out of the place.

Once the door closed, Blake turned to look at the ruined training field before him.

Those were strong targets, made of finest quality and enhanced mechanism.

And that dummy that exploded...it was actually a magically fortified training doll.

"This is absurd." Blake muttered, resting his hands on his waist, "Putting aside his magic control, his aim is still sharp as ever. Not to talk about the pace of learning."

Blake was known for his observation skills. And if he was evaluating his brother right while keeping aside his bias away, then this person...was going to grow more and more.

By experience, he might be ranked between second or first grade.

But by just potential and magical prowess, he might have already touched the special grade.

"Haah...when the world would find out about him..."

Blake needed to make a few preparations. As things were, he knew Kyle couldn’t keep his identity hidden for long.

But Blake could use a few connections and resources to prolong that reveal for as long as possible.

••••••••••

After returning home, Kyle took a quick shower, washing away the sweat before changing into something comfortable.

His hair remained messy, untouched by a comb, and paired with a loose T-shirt, he looked like someone who had no intention of stepping outside for the rest of the day.

Back at the resort, the battle had continued at a relentless pace. The constant tension of being caught had stopped him from properly registering what it felt like to burn through so much Genesis in such a short burst.

Now, with his mind finally at ease, his body began to protest, reminding him that he was far from a complete superhuman.

[The host needs to reach the 20 mark in all stats to see actual improvement.]

[The host could have streamed his training to gain quests, which would have aided his development.]

Kyle had considered it, but during training, especially with Blake around, interacting with viewers was not an option.

"I’ll think about it later. But tell me something, why can’t I see my Genesis reserve using God’s Eye?"

He stirred the eggs in the pan as he spoke.

He had already tried assessing himself earlier. After constantly being told how absurd his Genesis reserve was, curiosity got the better of him. But when he checked, he couldn’t even perceive it.

[Host, you need to reach the second awakening by leveling up to understand why your reserve is far different from others.]

"..."

Great. Another reason for him to stand out like a weirdo. What, did he generate Genesis out of thin air or something?

Shaking his head, he focused back on cooking. He prepared pasta with chicken, tomatoes, cheese, and a bit of hot sauce. Alongside it, he made scrambled eggs, then decided to add a small dessert.

Nothing fancy. Just a smoothie bowl.

He grabbed the blender and tossed in frozen fruits, blueberries of course, protein powder, milk, and ice. He blended it until the mixture turned thick and smooth.

Pouring it into a bowl, he carried everything to the table, a heavy but satisfying breakfast.

God, he loved this change in himself.

There was a time when instant noodles and takeout were all he cared about, and he had enjoyed that phase too. But now, knowing this kind of food actually helped him stay healthy made every bite feel better, like it washed away every bit of guilt with each meal.

He finished eating soon after, deciding the dishes could wait. A quick glance at his phone, and he dropped onto the bed.

Ah... he was exhausted.

... ... ... .

Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz

Kyle frowned in his sleep, slowly stirring.

His eyes drifted toward the clock.

Twelve.

Didn’t he just close his eyes?

Bzz Bzz

His gaze finally shifted to the source of the noise.

He picked up his phone.

Seven missed calls.

All from the same person.

Amanda.

He was about to call back when the phone buzzed again, only to stop just as quickly.

A bad feeling settled in his chest. Something was wrong.

He called her immediately, but the line was busy. He pulled the phone away, waiting, and just as he expected, it rang again.

"Hello? Are you okay?" he asked, his voice clear, all traces of sleep gone.

{Kyle... sniff... I need you... please come to me.}

He was already on his feet, moving toward the closet.

"Calm down. Tell me what happened first."

The last he remembered, she had gone back home. Did the PSC find something suspicious and investigate her family? No... if that were the case, they would have come to him first.

As his thoughts raced through possibilities, her words cut through everything.

{My family... sniff... they want me to marry someone else.}

For a second, he froze.

Then he turned away from the closet.

Forget the clothes.

He was going now.
