Just thinking about the first time he kissed He Dongxue, the usually feisty girl turned into a puddle in his arms, soft as water. Lin Chan felt proud and quite amused.

Kissing is one of those things that gets easier with practice. Once you have the first time, the second, third, and fourth times follow naturally. Thinking of He Dongxue, then looking at Lin Deng, Lin Chan shook his head decisively, leaving the ward to visit his dear Dongxue while he had the time.

With Lin Chan gone, Lin Deng finally enjoyed some peace and quiet.

Lin Deng knew very well why Lin Chan had come. It was nothing more than to remind him of his attitude towards Ye Zi.

In the days that followed, Lin Deng stayed alone in the hospital. Occasionally, Bian Muhe and Bian Xiulin would visit the ward and chat with him. Five days later, he was finally allowed to be discharged. However, he still had to use a wheelchair and was not yet permitted to use a prosthetic limb.

The day he was discharged turned out to be quite lively. All his friends came, not even missing one, and even Xing Ye, who had just returned from a business trip, personally came over.

"I’ve taken care of everything on Ye Zi’s side, rest assured. Aside from the lack of freedom, it’s as comfortable as staying in a hotel!" Chen Yun assured Lin Deng, "When Ye Zi comes out, he’ll definitely be a chubby leaf that won’t fly away."

"That joke’s not funny at all." Lin Deng didn’t even chuckle.

"Have some decency!" Lin Chan huffed, then stuffed Lin Deng into the back seat of the car. "Going home or to your current place?"

"Not going home." Just the thought of facing his mother’s tearful complaints made Lin Deng feel a headache coming on.

"Yes, Young Master Deng, at your command!" Lin Chan and the group of buddies exchanged nods and headed to Lin Deng’s place together.

Lin Deng’s place was freshly renovated, with many conveniences designed especially for him. The location was not far from his office; it only took twenty minutes to walk there.

Lin Deng now lived in a rather spacious place, a 180-square-meter duplex meant for one. The entire ground floor, where he worked out, wasn’t small at all. Luckily, Lin Chan had guessed he’d return here, so he’d already had the cleaning done ahead of time.

"He Da is cooking to celebrate your discharge, while Chen Ning is assisting in the kitchen," He Zhilan said to Lin Deng. "The two of them went to the market early in the morning to buy groceries, so we’re in for a treat at lunch!"

"With He Da’s cooking skills, I almost wish Lin Deng would be in and out of the hospital every day!" Qi Chengnan cracked a smile. "Too bad He Da’s a guy; if he were a girl, I’d have brought her home as a wife, just for the amazing food, and probably wouldn’t even want to step out of the house!"

"Can you be a little less shameless?" He Zhilan gave Qi Chengnan a side-eye.

"The lovebirds inside won’t hear us, and Chen Ning won’t hold it against me," Qi Chengnan waved his hand dismissively.

He Zhilan’s mouth twitched slightly. "I meant what you said before that. Can’t you be a bit more decent with your words?"

"Oh my, Zhilan, ever since you and He Mutou remarried, you’ve become less adorable. Brother Cheng Nan doesn’t like you anymore~" Qi Chengnan imitated a little girl’s voice, pinching his fingers and stomping his foot in a mock tantrum.

"Oh damn! Qi Chengnan, get away from me, that’s disgusting!" Lin Chan shivered over in the corner.

But, thanks to Qi Chengnan’s antics, the atmosphere in the room became even more cheerful.
